I have to respectfully disagree Solid ;).

They showed it to us in class the week before last...and I thought it was hilarious. It's definitely not typical...and it's far more "White Trash" than I had originally envisioned...but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like the concept...and I can't wait to see what ridiculous 'wrongs' he tries to right next. It's getting fantastic reviews from critics...but I none of them think it'll register with the general population...so it probably won't be a hit.

Agreed, I thought it was very funny. I'm a pretty big Jason Lee fan and I thought this was perfect for him. It's kind of like Joe Dirt Meets ... well Joe Dirt! It was great I can't wait for new episodes. It'll be a nice Tuesday night segue into LOST on Wednesdays!

I can't watch it, cuz its at the same time as House, and Supernatural...and we're watching Supernatural on one tv, and recording House on the computer, so they'res no where to watchi it, lol

i thought it was EXCELLENT, a cross between Scrubs and Raising Arizona. I actually laughed out loud the entire 30 minutes!

Everyone's been comparing it to Raising Arizona! lol...Kinda makes me want to watch Raising Arizona ;)

I have that same problem with it conflicting with Supernatural. I did see in the tv listings that Earl will be on Bravo on Friday I think (don't quote me on that) I think it will be the same ep so I am recording it just in case. :)

Earl managed to pull some pretty good ratings for its premiere last night! :)

So...fingers crossed...if it continues to hold that up...it may be around for awhile

Unlike my other new favourite comedy "Kitchen Confidential" which tanked :(

I have my PVR set to tape it on Bravo. :)

I liked it, I didn't see yesterday's ep yet. Had that whole Nip/Tuck premiere on. :)

I have to say I didn't think it was funny at all and I was really looking forward to it. But I'll stay with it for a while to see what happens. (same thing with How I Met Your Mother by the way).

I'm not a big fan of the 30-minutes-canned-laughter shows, so "Earl" was pleasantly different. I think I'll stick with it for a bit and see where it goes.

We enjoyed Earl last night, but we were torn. My husband likes House and I enjoyed Supernatural and wanted to tune in again. I guess I can see the comparison to Raising Arizona, one of my favorite movies. It wasn't quite on the comedic genius level of RA, but it was very cute.

i thought i was the only one with this opinion, i was starting to get worried that maybe i was watching a different show hehe... i don't know, i liken it to blue collar tv humor and it just isn't my thing... it also has a slight Quantum Leap element to it (making the wrong things right) so the premise is half-way decent but come on... so his karma is limited to the wrongs he remembers? lol... i just did not find it funny...

i saw it again earlier this week... there were some okay moments, not sure how much of a chance NBC will give it... but then again, "Joey" is still on the air, so who knows... has it been getting good ratings?

QueenElessar
09-30-2005, 02:29 PM
It got great ratings it's first week...and dipped slightly this week...but I think that's normal for a new show..especially one that is probably going to appeal more to a cult audience in terms of the type of comedy. I think it might level off at a good amount of viewers...but we'll have to see what happens next week :)

:frown: aw Joey... I was so hopeful but what a let down! I enjoyed the first season but my husband and I were so disappointed with the 2nd season opener.

As for Earl, I had a hard time watching it between that and Supernatural, my husband insisits on watching Dog the Bounty Hunter and I wanted to see Commander in Chief! Didn't even see that last one. Earl was ok, I'll give it another chance or two...I was totally impressed with the first one, but there's just too much to see on Tuesday nights at the same time...

My sister and I both enjoy "My Name is Earl". I've read and heard people comparing it to "Arrested Development" -- great show, enjoyed by critics, but few watch it. Like others have said, the only thing I don't like is that it's on the same time as "Supernatural." I didn't think last week's "Supernatural" was too scary, but the premiere was. Last week's "My Name is Earl" was pretty funny though -- especially since it had Haywire from "Prison Break"!

Really like this show. It's on my must watch list. I've liked Jason Lee ever since Mallrats. I think they are replaying it on Bravo along with The Office.

I'd missed it the first time around, but my wife TiVo'ed the marathon reruns so we watched them tonight. It was hillarious.

The Moses parting the Red Sea line about caused me to choke.

I've caught all the episodes and I think the show is pretty funny! I think the funniest stuff is with the gay guy cause he's such a nerd. The part where he stuffed himself in the trunk of the car was priceless!

Ok... even though I watched the first episode, I haven't been back yet to watch another. In fact, I don't even remember what day or time of day the show is on... oops.

I guess it did not reel me in as I thought it would... but I'm glad to see that there seem to be lots of people who do enjoy it.

I just started watching this show last week after hearing rave reviews about it and seriously, it lived up to the hype for me.

Jamie Pressly as his ex-wife is a hoot! And I'm not certain I've ever liked her in anything before. :p

I'm not huge into boycotting but I have to draw the line somewhere.

I'm done watching scientologists. Since Jason Lee is one, I refuse to watch his show.

There's just only so much crazy I can put up with.

I love this show, too! It's cool because it has the funny redneck stereotypes but instead of just rrelying on that, they have that cool list/karma/do good things theme and that's different. And I like t hat.

And I was also impressed at Ethan Suplee's weight loss!! He looks great!

What episode has been your favourite and who is your favourite character?

Me! I watch it : Joy is a favourite in our house - how she manages to be so darned likeable, whilst being so selfish it trancends being an attribute to be frowned upon untill it's an art form, is a mystery to us all.

and Randy's very sweet; we adore his moments of ethical clarity and his 'so daft they're genius' notions.

I LOVE this show!!!! It's so great to see such an original comedy and see it suceed so well. I was hoping that Jamiee Presley would win the Emmy though:( It's such a great so, such great acting and writing, it deserves to win all it can get.

I loved the writer(I believe it was for Earl, Greg Garcia's acceptance speech:

"And no thank you to my eighth grade social studies teacher Mr. Macidue who told me to sit down and shut up because I wasn't funny." :roflmao:

It was such a cute speech, I'm so happy he won:D
