I don't know if anyone else here watches the Amazing Race, but it's always amazing. I got hooked on like the second race and now it like the sixth. I actually signed up to be in this family edition one and we got to go to the first round of interviews with the producers. Although we had to pay our own way to fly the four of us to the interview and were not selected it is still pretty cool to think I was almost there.

Anyways if anyone else watches I think the Linz family could take it all this time.

I'm all about the amazing race!! I hope the mom from the obnoxious family, reaches out and smacks some sense into her sons, they are almost too annoying to watch

The Jersey Family.....I can't remember their name but yeah the are wickedly annoying.

All that yelling he did at his mom and then he was the one complaining that he couldnt go on during the civil war obstacle, I thought that was hilarious.

I was also amused by the Dad of the team that finished last, because in his final statement he was talking about teaching his son not to throw stones but when he thought his son had missed the exit, he was all over him, and then once they figured out it was him that actually messed up, he said "he couldnt do everything" Classic!

Is this the first race they had in the US?

JAZZYJ
10-05-2005, 01:09 PM
Oh man I would have been pissed if someone was doing that to me, because it was clearly the dads fault for telling him to take 30 East instead of West, and after all that he's just like oh well I can't do everything. Right after that I would have laid into him, I would have said something like yeah I guess you can't do everything, since you can't even get East and West right.

None of the races have been entirely in the US and I bet next episode they will leave the counrty. The are probably trying to slim down a little before they have to start buying international plane tickets. But they will leave the US soon.

I love, love, love this show, lve watched it from the very first season. Isn't it great how they're showing parts of previous races. It makes me want to rent/buy the shows to rewatch. My favorite families so far are the Bransens (the dad with the three daughters) the Godlewskis the pink ladies and the Weavers (the widowed mom with the three kids) I felt bad for the Rogers son, his parting words "my family thinks they're always right"
Its too bad you didn't get on this episode jazzyj. That would have been an adventure of a lifetime. I tried signing up for it but you have to be an American citizen, darn.

I know :sadwalk: , and now everytime it comes on I'm like I should be there, and then while watching I'm like wow this really is amazing. Well maybe next time. Oh yea and the Bransens are going to run their father into the ground, he is gonna be sooo tired.

I got hooked on the second season and have watched ever since. It took over for Survivor for me as the best reality show. I know a lot of people (Entertainment Weekly for example) seem to really dislike this family edition but IMO I think it's actually one of the best seasons at least so far. I think it's definately entertaining. Seeing all of them interacting with their families makes me appreciate mine even more.

Yay, yay, yay it just keeps getting better. Finally the Paolo mom is starting to stick up for herself and some of the others are getting on the oldest boys case. Speaking of l cried when he took that leap off the bridge with his mom. That is the reason l love this show so much, people getting over their fears and having a feeling of accomplishment. Its getting hard now because the ones that are left, l like them all. I know l'm going to shed tears if any of them get eliminated. Oh and wasn't that hilarious when the Godlewski girls were putting their clothes on in the bus.

The Paolo family irritated me at first. But when they took that leap off that bridge and he kissed her on the forehead Wow I completely melted for this family. Now if the Gaghan family can't win I'm rooting for the Paolo family.
The girls were smart to do that. I would be in such a rush to get to the pit stop that I wouldn't even think about that. I would be just praying that I found it. (I have a horrible sense of direction)

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think this season is up to par. Most of the challenges are not exactly challenging, which doesn't leave a lot of room for people to catch up or fall behind. As an example, last night the relics were all in the same place so there was no challenge to it. Go across the bridges, walk down, pick up the relics, and go back. Doing laundry is harder than that. Another example is the fast forward mentioned previously in this thread. All they had to do was bungee jump and then go to the pitstop. Sure it's scary if you don't like heights, but people pay good money to bungee jump so it wasn't anything close to an expected reality show challenge. Last year the couple had to shave their heads to get a fast forward, which was not easy for a woman to go through and then have to deal with for months until it grew back. Compare that to bungee jumping, and my point is made. I still watch the show, but for me it's not very amazing this season.

I had been watching Amazing Race, but I am so bored with this edition:yawn: and I liked the Gaghan family. They were very positive and one of the few bright spots of this season.
I'm sure I will watch again, when it goes back to the 2 person teams of adults.

I agree with you makemelaugh about the challenges not being like they were, l think they structured the challenges because there is children involved. and l would think it would take longer for four people to do something than two. IMHO. (didn't you bawl when she cut her hair tho, and do you remember when they bungee jumped in Australia~l think??) anyways, dragging those kids along would slow things down a tad. I still watch it because l'm loyal. It's been different but not so terrible to watch.

This is the first season that I have watched and I am enjoying it! Although I do tend to get a bit of anxiety and start to yell at the TV - "RUN, RUN, RUN!!!" The way they edit makes all the endings seem sooooo close.

Yes, it made me cry. Also when the older lady had to go in the river and fill a basket with salt, then carry it back on her head over and over, and the locals were watching her and cheering for her.

lostandwaiting, the Linz family is still there. I think they have a good chance.

I don't think this season is as good as previous ones, but I guess they didn't want to include challanges that would put children in too much danger. I hope they go back to how it was before and they don't continue this family edition thing. I don't really know who I'd like to win yet, maybe the Linz family...

I've been a fan since season two and love this show. The Family Edition is definitely different, but good I think. I loved the episode where they had to participate in that War Between the States reenactment.

I do NOT want the Paolo family to win. I've never seen a more cantankerous, disrespectful bunch as those four. That boy that's always yelling at his mom should've been put over her knee a long time ago.

Can't remember the name of the family with the three daughters and the daddy, but I don't want them to win either. "Whenever I think 'Alabama' I think 'ugly'" one of the girls said. Well, ma'am, Alabama might just think the same thing about you.

Even though they were only there for the first episode, I really liked the Black family out of Virginia. I was totally ticked off when they lost that first leg of the race. I didn't like the Rogers family out of Louisiana losing either. I mean, there are so many good, decent families on the show and it seems to me they're the ones getting kicked off in favor of the above-mentioned idiots.

*lol* I gotta love a show that makes me this passionate.

Now that the Gaghan family is gone I'm stuck. I don't really like anyone else. I thought I could root for the Paolo family after the bridge kiss but then they go right back to treating each other like dirt.

It's official. I could care less who wins. :undecide:

I LOVE The Amazing Race!!!! I don't like this one as much as the regular seasons, but I still like it. I'm sad the Gaghans are gone too, though. They were always so positive! hehe And JohnnyREB, I still like the Bransons but I think what that girl said is totally disrespectful and uncalled for. I'm not from Alabama, nor have I spent any time there other than driving through it on the way to Florida, but I do know that that was such a stupid thing for her to say. I think it's safe to say that there are beautiful parts and ugly parts in every state, and for her to say that just made herself look bad. I like the Linz's the best I guess, they at least have fun and always try their best... The Paolo's are so rude to eachother all the time and they don't seem to be as committed to the race... and I like the Pink Ladies too although they fight just like my mom and her three sisters lol

Yeeeaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The screamers are gone, and I'm very happy. Just when I was feeling sorry for the mother, she says at the end that that's just the way they are and it doesn't matter because they stick together. Please. Those kids are like that because the parents spoil them and allow the terrible behavior. She would scream but the kids would just scream back louder, and the dad never said a word about it. They must be masochists.:o

I liked the Gaghans, but from the comments they made about travelling a lot, including internationally, it gave me the impression that they have plenty of money so I wasn't upset when they got eliminated. It was sad to see "Peanut" choking back the tears - it was cute how she was trying so hard to keep them in.

I hope the Linz family wins.

I cried last night of course. I always do when its down to the last few epi's. I get so attached to the players no matter what. What gets me is the comments they leave at the end. I think its wonderful that the oldest came away with more respect for his mom dysfunctional as they were. For some people, couples, families thats their comfort zone. The only couple (or person) l truly disliked in all the of the amazing races was Jonathan. Not a nice person.

I like how the Weavers are crying and whining about how nobody likes them because they have morals and have Christ in their hearts. Yet they're the ones throwing stuff out the windows at the "Desperate Houswives" (as they call them) and then calling the other teams names. But, they are the ones with the morals and everyone else is purely out to get them. Okay, so in a way the other teams are trying to get them but not because they don't have morals it's because they're obnoxious... That's just my take on the Amazing Race. Next week it's not on because of the CMA's UGH!

11-10-2005, 01:29 PM
I'm sooo happy they're gone too! Now we don't have to listen to them yell at each other all the time lol I really hope that the Florida team (widow & kids) goes next. I feel terrible about what happened to their dad, but I am really starting to not like them as people. They kinda seem trashy to me, plus they are total hypocrits. Did you guys see when they were "talking smack" about the Linz's and telling the guy at the booth to make his speech really long to hold them back, and then after that the Linz's blocked their boat in and the Florida's were like, "Oh they play dirty..." Argh! I was yelling at them through my tv! lol And they are always whining about how nobody likes them - Well hello! There's obviously a reason for that! Sorry for the rant... lol they have just gotten on my last nerve

JohnnyREB1977
11-10-2005, 06:34 PM
I know exactly what y'all mean about the Linz's. They're getting on my nerves, too. Part of it is the hypocrisy. But, the majority of it is the whinying to get attention. I'm so sorry that the kids' dad/her husband died at a race track. That has got to be horrible for them. But, they're milking it, in my opinion. "Look at me! My husband/father died! Pity me!" I've seen that crap my whole life. It gets old fast. Not only that, but it sounds so insincere.

I love the Amazing Race, but I'm am discouraged with this season... What happened to the "race around the world" part? The first 5 pitstops were in the US? They spent a few days in Panama and Costa Rica and now we're back to the US??... This season is by far the most disappointing one for me... But I'll keep watching..

JohnnyREB1977
11-11-2005, 07:16 AM
Hooked,

I know what you mean about them not going around the world. That is a little disappointing. But, you have to take into account that they have kids on this show, a couple of them were very young. It's probably safer, in the long run, to stay in or near the States.

bigbrowndog
11-11-2005, 03:20 PM
Think of the logistics of getting that many people on flights all over the world though... That is one of the main reasons I think that they aren't spending that much time outside of the U.S. We started with 10 4 -person teams. Now can you imagine trying to get 40 people out of JFK to Paris and then around Europe. The cost of that alone would be huge, granted The Amazing Race is probably making a bundle on advertising and sucking people into this show every week... There are only so many seats the airlines are going to be willing to reserve, especially if they can be filling those seats with people that are paying them actual money to fly somewhere. You know that the Amazing Race people have deals with all of these airlines. It's free advertising for the airlines!

HookedlikeHeroine
11-11-2005, 07:23 PM
Yea.. I agree.. but I would have prefered the exec's to consider it, decide they could go around the world and then scrap the idea. Part of what makes this show as good as it is, is seeing everyone contend with the language issues. However, getting the small children on one of those trains in India would be insane... Well, I'm still a loyal watcher, and will hope for better things in the next one.. :-)

Nope l wasn't screaming at the tv last night. I'm not in the "Don't like the Weaver family" camp. But l have to agree they've brought it all on themselves. There's always one family to dislike, last time it was that awful Jonathan and Victoria YUCK!! I felt sorry for her until they got on Dr Phil and she was in complete denial, actually they both were. It's going to be interesting the next two weeks. Anyone have any feelings as to who is going to win. I say the Linz family.

I didn't like how the Linz family behaved last night. I'm glad they finally came in first and won a prize, but now I want the Branson family to win. What's with the Desperate Housewives always hating on each other? That's getting old. It's fun to be so judgemental, isn't it? I would be a freakin' nut job if I was that close to winning a million dollars. Everybody would hate me.

I didn't like how the Linz family behaved last night. I'm glad they finally came in first and won a prize, but now I want the Branson family to win. I agree somewhat. But, you have four college-age kids, excited to be in the competition, and probably pumped up on caffeine. I guess I'm still rooting for them, especially since they are from my town - Cincinnati! Besides, ever since the Weavers started acting crazy at the dinner stop on the bus ride, people have stayed away from them. I guess people generally don't realize how they look to others all the time. That being said - Who dey think gonna beat the Linz family?

As a Weaver I am ashamed of them. They always walk around like everyone hates them and people are always picking on them. Boo frickity Who. The girls were the ones throwing stuff out of the window at the "Desperate Housewives" they are also the ones making fun of the other contestants. They mocked the Paolo family and if I recall they made fun of the fact that the father collected garbage. I agree that the Weavers bring it on themselves, but I wish that they would realize this and get off the T.V. I just knew it wasn't going to be an elimination round when the Weavers were on their way out. I knew it because I wanted them off the race. So, by that reasoning I should want them to win so that they don't, but I just can't bring myself to think that even as a joke.

I was seriously going to freak if the Linzs got eliminated b/c of the production error, but thankfully it is "to be continued" I was already mad enough about how last week the Weavers finally came in last but it was a non elimination round. Oh well hopefully the Linzs will catch up and get back in front... followed by the Bransons, the Gold-whatevers, and then the Weavers. "Weaver family... You're the last family to arrive... It's official. I am on the Linz love train. The whole lotion-Buffalo Bill thing cracked me up. And the Onstar quibble was pretty cute. I hope they take it all.
I wouldn't mind if the Branson's won it but it really upsets me that the girls don't respect their father more. He's the one the past few legs who's keeping them in this race. Although by the looks of the previews there may be trouble ahead.
Was that the saddest exit interview ever or what? The Desperate Housewives lost me with all the yelling and disrespect for each other. The best thing about the Amazing Race is that a lot of the racers get to know there partners even better. The sisters at the end never got a clue.
The Weavers. What's left to say. I've read it all on TWP. And I agree with most of it.

P.S. Phil.... no more Weaver pep talks.... please....stop Phil.... I love you but stop.....

LMAO I liked Millie and Chuck at first too! What was I thinking...

It was interesting to see the reruns on GSN, once I knew how annoying Chillie got at the end, and how much more fun Jon and Kelly were to watch (even if I thought they were really not nice people they were great entertainment. and uh, thanks to each for taking the other off the market.) What sealed it with me was that they couldn't even be a little bit happy for Reichen and Chip (not that they lasted, but that's not the issue).

I loved the shot of Phil almost not keeping a straight face as the Linzes came into the non-pit-stop at the beginning. I do like the Bransens, but I think I want the Linzes to win now. But most of all, since the Weavers aren't gone yet like I originally wanted, I want them to have to come in third and walk by everyone else and have to see the Linzes and Bransens waiting at the finish line. :)

Aaaahhhh :fear3: Ok I know l'll be on the edge of my seat next week. I have to agree with lambchop, I'm on the Linz lovin wagon too. I had to laugh after they got their pictures taken with Buffalo Bill and the one guy says "what a good looking family" I was sitting there nodding, yupe that you have to agree with. Its to bad about the 'desperate housewives.' I think if my brother and l were on we'd do alot of arguing and such and my reply at the end would be similar " l love my brother all the same." And the Weavers, well you gotta admit they work well together and thats whats getting them through the race. The way they put together the teepee and finding the golf balls, I was impressed. So my money is on the Linz's.

I sooo want the Linzes to win. I cannot stand the Weavers. They are some of the biggest hypocrits I've ever seen. They spout these Christian values, but the girls go around half naked, making fun of people. They didn't teach me that in church. Did anybody see VH-1's best week ever, when they were talking about the reason for all the hurricane's and stuff this year being because of the Weavers monopolizing God's time. Funny stuff!
