View Full Version : Surface Charlie-Survivor 10-25-2005, 04:48 PM I didn't see a thread for this show so I'm making one lol. I LOVE THIS SHOW!! It's like my second favorite show besides Lost. Last night's episode was insane! Nim killed a dude! liz_lost_fan 10-25-2005, 04:49 PM I missed it yesterday, could someone fill me in on what happened?? Charlie-Survivor 10-25-2005, 05:00 PM What happened was this. Dr. Cirko found the origin of the monsters from an underwater orchid. As he is walking across the street he is bashed by a car and later in the episode dies. So we now know that there is a group trying to get the information about the monster because they ran Cirko over. So one of his co-workers steals the Orchid and puts it in this storage place and is pursued by the people trying to get the information. He ends up crashing into Laura's house but gives her the key before he dies and tells her, "Cirko wanted you to have it..." So Laura goes and gets the orchid. Then the shows shifts over to Miles. He locks Nim in his closet while he does some chores for his mom. Well needless to say Nim didn't like that so he drills a hole through the floor and lands in the kitchen... Miles's mother finds the hole in her kitchen ceiling, calls her husband and Miles is in DEEP trouble. They know the, 'creature' is still there so they call animal control. Miles grabs Nim and runs off to his own little secret hiding spot. When he tries to go back the next day the police who are stationed at his house looking for him see him and follow him. Miles's friend Phil goes to the hiding spot too and they both watch as the officer tries to cature Nim and Nim...shocks him to death. So in the end Laura goes back to her house with Richard and they find the rest of Cirko's men at her house. They see her and Richard with the orchid and assume they were the one's who took it from the lab. Laura and Richard leave and are now on the run... So everyone on the show are on the run......this show is really good. minnesotan_grl83 10-26-2005, 10:47 PM I remember seeing previews of this show before it aired. i forgot all about it. sounds really good. is it on NBC? what channel is it on? :) how many epis has aired so far since it started? thanks. liz_lost_fan 10-26-2005, 10:52 PM thanks for that Charlie :D its a great show, girl, you shold definatly try to catch it next time :D Charlie-Survivor 10-27-2005, 08:04 AM I remember seeing previews of this show before it aired. i forgot all about it. sounds really good. is it on NBC? what channel is it on? :) how many epis has aired so far since it started? thanks. My son wants a Nim of his own. I think they did a great job and made a really cool looking creature. I'm really wondering what's going to happen when Nim grows up. Charlie-Survivor 10-27-2005, 05:16 PM Hey, i was wondering what the stars are for and how you get more By stars you mean the one's below our names right? If that's what you're talking about you get more as you post more. They are like rewards for posting a lot. I'm definitely hooked. My son wants a Nim of his own. I think they did a great job and made a really cool looking creature. I'm really wondering what's going to happen when Nim grows up. Lol, I would love to have a Nim, he's really cool! Naughty Paws 10-28-2005, 08:07 AM What happened was this. ......this show is really good. thanks for this. i taped it and accidentally taped over it. usually scifi or NBC re airs it. of course the ONE that i miss is not re-airing on either channel within the next 2 weeks. so i really needed the recap! PS computer crashed last week. still not working. hence Naughty Paws = MIA/POC (prisoner of computer/crash) Charlie-Survivor 10-28-2005, 08:11 AM Lol, one time I downloaded the new edition of Norton Antivirus and my whole comp got a virus and died. So I bought a new comp and made sure I went with Mcafee instead of Norton Antivirus, I understand whats it like to feel like you're are the slave of the crashed computer lol! Charlie-Survivor 11-01-2005, 10:28 PM Ok, can anyone tell me what happened on yesterdays episode, I was out trick-or-treating... Naughty Paws 11-02-2005, 07:40 AM sure, that's easy. it wasn't on: you missed nothing. it's not on next week either. dammit! Charlie-Survivor 11-04-2005, 11:02 PM Sweet, I didn't know they were skipping weeks HOOORAY! ladyrune24 11-04-2005, 11:07 PM I want a Nim too but I'm not sure I want him to grow up. I'm still trying to figure out the clue from the last ep. Naughty Paws 11-05-2005, 10:06 AM althought the tv listings didnt reflect this last week when i looked, the scifi channel reaired the last episode and i taped it. so i WILL get to see it after all on sunday!! yay! BurningStar4 11-06-2005, 04:02 PM Can someone tell me if they are repeating the last 3-4 episodes, I missed them because I had class. I set my VCR to record them but they never recorded, wtf. Anyway, I finally got TiVo so now I can record them on that. Charlie-Survivor 11-06-2005, 04:07 PM I think they are going to be rerunning them through the holidays, but I'm not sure. JohnnyREB1977 11-07-2005, 08:46 PM I'm watching Surface right now. Pretty good episode tonight, although I'm getting a little tired of the kid and Mini-Godzilla. Daughertry and Rich's part's been pretty good. But man...Boobapoolooza! *lol* Seriously..."Oh, we're stranded. Let me get down to my panties and stretch and bounce round" and later "It's cold. I'll put on your shirt...but let me stretch again.". P.S. Not that I'm complaining. WishIWasInOahu 11-08-2005, 02:02 AM When I first started watching Surface I thought it was really lame, but it has actually gotten a lot better and I really like it now. But LOL I know what you mean about the boobapalooza! That was just a little ridiculous tonight but whatever, I guess you just have to expect that on practically every show now. My question is why is there no hot shirtless guy to counteract the boobs? LMAO Hey Mandy! haha BurningStar4 11-08-2005, 03:01 AM Hey Sandy! :) It was sad when the little monster left the kid :( Next week looks interesting though with that makeshift sub. Charlie-Survivor 11-08-2005, 10:32 PM Yeah that makeshift sub looked like a tinker toy, I hope they can actually get that thing to work... gaffa 11-14-2005, 09:47 PM Am I the only one who finds the characters stiff and unbelievable. The show feels like an "Independance Day Lite" to me. I can't quite put my finger on it. BurningStar4 11-14-2005, 11:26 PM The show isn't the greatest, and the characters aren't great either, but for some reason I love watching the show. Charlie-Survivor 11-15-2005, 05:11 PM Man I really liked the ending of last nights episode...they fell in the hole lol! Princess Arwen 11-15-2005, 06:24 PM The show isn't the greatest, and the characters aren't great either, but for some reason I love watching the show. I did not Lake Bell on Boston Legal at all. However, on this show she is bearable. :) BurningStar4 11-15-2005, 09:07 PM Man I really liked the ending of last nights episode...they fell in the hole lol! Yeah, I'm waiting for them to discover a bubble society, where the government is breeding thost *things* :p Seriously, I don't know how they are going to get out of there, can't you die at depths such as that if you were to exit the submarine? Charlie-Survivor 11-15-2005, 10:29 PM Yeah I think so...either that or you would get some serious Bins. And even if you didn't die from the pressure you would be too far down to get back to the surface... WishIWasInOahu 11-16-2005, 01:21 AM Oh ya they'd be dead... Charlie-Survivor 11-16-2005, 06:13 PM Oh ya they'd be dead... More than dead, they'd be dead lol! gaffa 11-16-2005, 07:30 PM The show isn't the greatest, and the characters aren't great either, but for some reason I love watching the show. i too watch the show but i feel like if something better showed up monday night i wouldn't mind dumping it. Charlie-Survivor 11-16-2005, 10:40 PM I like the plot but yeah the characters are kinda stiff... ladyrune24 11-29-2005, 10:17 AM A question for those who really love Surface: IS NIM REALLY DEAD? It looked pretty final to me but I keep hoping. I really loved that little dude. Please someone tell me where I could get some inside info on this. Charlie-Survivor 11-29-2005, 05:14 PM I don't know of any place where there is inside info but that's gonna really suck if Nim is dead... Princess Arwen 11-29-2005, 05:46 PM I think Nim has resurrective (sp?) and healing powers so he may not be out for the count yet. :) Charlie-Survivor 11-29-2005, 09:23 PM I hope your right. BurningStar4 11-29-2005, 09:26 PM I don't think Nim is dead, my friend who I was watching it with said that at the end Nim was glowing some green on his back.....and it would be a good opener next week or whenever if the guy is ready to cut into him and he notices he's alive. Charlie-Survivor 11-29-2005, 10:26 PM Your right, that would be a good opener, can't wait to find out!!! WishIWasInOahu 11-29-2005, 11:56 PM I don't think he's dead either - I think that guy will start to cut into him and he'll get electrocuted LOL that would be cool. That would be way too sad for Nim to die, and Miles would have went through all that crap and practically ruined his life for nothing if he's really dead. Hey didn't you guys also think it was cool how that little liferaft pulled that like two ton hunk of metal up to the surface? lol I also think it is funny how Savannah (however you spell her name) is the nicest person in the world all of the sudden. I can't say I mind though; she used to annoy me but not really anymore. Anyways... I can't wait to see what happens with Nim next week! I really hope he isn't dead for real. BurningStar4 11-30-2005, 03:06 AM I don't think he's dead either - I think that guy will start to cut into him and he'll get electrocuted LOL that would be cool. That would be way too sad for Nim to die, and Miles would have went through all that crap and practically ruined his life for nothing if he's really dead. I can't say I mind though; she used to annoy me but not really anymore. Anyways... I can't wait to see what happens with Nim next week! I really hope he isn't dead for real. Yeah Savannah is being a good sister...it was really funny when Miles friend came by and threw the salt on the floor to get Nim into the crate. I hope Nim doesn't shock that guy though because he is nice and seems like he would be on Miles side...plus he seems to be some sort of Marine Biologist so he might be able to get some more insight by spending some time with Nim. Charlie-Survivor 11-30-2005, 08:28 AM Well that guy might be able to help if he dosn't die but personally, I want Miles to meet up with Laura cause I think she could understand Nim better than anyone. BurningStar4 11-30-2005, 12:14 PM Well that guy might be able to help if he dosn't die but personally, I want Miles to meet up with Laura cause I think she could understand Nim better than anyone. I want Miles to meet up with them as well! Soon, hopefully. Charlie-Survivor 11-30-2005, 05:38 PM Yeah soon would be GREAT lol! lost-extra1 11-30-2005, 10:45 PM Hate to tell you guys, but there's no new episode next week. It's on a break until January, like Lost and everything else. BurningStar4 11-30-2005, 11:42 PM GAH! Well I officially think Nim is alive......it would be a pretty crappy cliffhanger just to see he's dead. Charlie-Survivor 12-01-2005, 08:27 AM DARN IT!!! We're not going to have like any good TV shows on till January!! Princess Arwen 12-01-2005, 08:50 AM Hate to tell you guys, but there's no new episode next week. It's on a break until January, like Lost and everything else. So are they going to have reruns or something? In Lost's time slot I hope we get reruns instead of something like Dancing With the Stars. Ugh!!! lost-extra1 12-01-2005, 09:57 AM I'm hoping for reruns on both shows. Princess Arwen 12-01-2005, 10:20 AM I'm hoping for reruns on both shows. It appears we will have some, if not all reruns, of Lost's episodes from Season Two in the hiatus until the next new episode of Lost on January 11, 2006. ABC has announced here: http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index.html next week's episode of Lost will be "Everybody Hates Hugo". DeitrahS 12-01-2005, 11:28 AM I'd hate to think that they killed Nim, he's my favorite actor on the show! Charlie-Survivor 12-01-2005, 05:36 PM Yeah man, whoever plays Nim desrves best actor  Princess Arwen 12-01-2005, 05:41 PM It looks to me like Nim is computer generated. Oh well...maybe SAG will create an award for "best computer-generated actor". Charlie-Survivor 12-01-2005, 07:45 PM Yeah they deffinetly need to create a award for that cause Nim rocks!!!! But if they did that he'd have to contend with the monster from Lost...AHHH lol! BurningStar4 12-02-2005, 03:49 AM I want a Nim, just like I want a Gizmo from Gremlins lol. Charlie-Survivor 12-02-2005, 08:18 AM Or those Godzilla dolls from Godzilla lol! Princess Arwen 12-02-2005, 11:32 AM Well you can get a Gollum from Lord of the Rings! :) Princess Arwen 12-05-2005, 09:23 PM For those of you who are interested in a spoiler: Nim is alive. Check the NBC website. Next new episode of Surface will be January 2, 2006 I believe. Check the website. Charlie-Survivor 12-05-2005, 09:26 PM Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessss!!!!! BurningStar4 12-05-2005, 11:29 PM For those of you who are interested in a spoiler: Nim is alive. Check the NBC website. Next new episode of Surface will be January 2, 2006 I believe. Check the website. Can I say "told ya so!" lol :p I'm glad we don't have to wait til the 11th, like we do for Lost. What episode did they re-air tonight, anyone watch? lost-extra1 12-06-2005, 12:08 AM It was 2 hours of Las Vegas. Charlie-Survivor 12-06-2005, 08:22 AM Which stinks, they should have aired a new Surface episode! Princess Arwen 12-06-2005, 09:01 AM Which stinks, they should have aired a new Surface episode! All the actors and staff are on holiday break! I guess they decided they needed a vacation. :ohwell: jocko 12-06-2005, 09:25 PM With LOST on hiatus I've been able to catch up on some shows I haven't watched all season - Surface being one of them. I can't say I'm a fan of this show, mainly because of the sub-par acting and all the dangling plotlines. So a dead body from the submarine washes ashore and nothing is mentioned of it again? Likewise Old Faithful blowing up, and the airplane getting downed. Why can't they show these and then address them in the same episode? Generally I liked the cgi, especially at the end of episode two, when the half-eaten white shark was winched up on the fishing boat right before the whole boat was swallowed by that huge critter... but this all seems so strangely incongruous with the "cute" Nim cgi. For me, the show ranks low on the believability scale... the clincher was when they used the inflatable raft as a means of rescue from the bottom of the sea... how could a small raft conceivably have enough power to lift that heavy metal container? And in real life, the water pressure at that depth would not allow the raft to inflate in the first place. All in all, I'll probably watch Surface a few more times before giving up on it completely... but right now I'm not very optimistic on its future. Charlie-Survivor 12-06-2005, 10:34 PM All the actors and staff are on holiday break! I guess they decided they needed a vacation. :ohwell: Vacation smavation lol. BurningStar4 12-06-2005, 11:54 PM With LOST on hiatus I've been able to catch up on some shows I haven't watched all season - Surface being one of them. All in all, I'll probably watch Surface a few more times before giving up on it completely... but right now I'm not very optimistic on its future. Actually the raft thing is possible. The show definitely is not up there with LOST and the acting is very B-movie-ish, along with the CGI. I don't watch it for those things though I just watch it because I find it pretty entertaining since there is nothing else I watch on a Monday night. I think it is also the best out of the other shows that came out this year like Invasion and Threshold. I also like it because they give some of the things away, but it still keeps you wondering. For instance, they are not afraid to show the monsters, but you still don't know why or how they are there, what is going on with the government conspiracies, etc. I don't know about the shows future because I dont' know how many people watch and how their ratings are but I think it will at least finish out the Season if not come back again next year. lost-extra1 12-07-2005, 11:59 AM On another board I go to, there is a guy there who works on the special effects/props of the show. He even posted pics of the afternoon when he had the rubber stand-in for Nim at his house. He said that morale on the set is really low, and that the producers occasionally get to screaming. I don't particulaly like the acting, but I don't dislike it either. I'm more interested in the creatures themselves. Princess Arwen 12-07-2005, 12:28 PM With LOST on hiatus I've been able to catch up on some shows I haven't watched all season - ... I am catching up on Veronica Mars episodes. VM broadcasts at the same time as Lost. Great show! Check it out! Oops! Wrong thread. Sorry! Charlie-Survivor 12-07-2005, 07:02 PM Yeah I don't really like the acting either but the plot keeps me going. sickotriz 12-08-2005, 04:32 PM Ugh... Surface... I admit to watching it, but it's mainly out of morbid fascination to see just how bad it can get, and I use it (and a bunch of other shows) as a distraction to pass the time in between new Lost episodes. Surface is really pretty terrible. On believability I've given them the benefit of the doubt until the latest episodes where they built the "submersible" out of junk in a scrapyard and went 5000+ feet underwater to encounter the creatures. The worst part of it was when they used the inflatable raft to bring the darn thing (and a ton of cable) back to the surface. Somehow, when the inflatable raft came up, the submersible (which would be separated from the raft by a few feet of water I would think) is somehow able to float again, once it comes to the top. WTF. The acting is indeed terrible, and if you're going to watch this show be sure to turn your brain off. The lead female (Lake Bell) is very attractive though. BurningStar4 12-08-2005, 09:51 PM Ugh... I also have a thing for watching bad TV shows and movies, just to keep me from going insane out of boredom, but it has to be a certain type of bad, like "Surface" or "The Lost World" (which is great at 5am) bad. And the inflatable raft bringing that thing to surface is possible, but when it was in perfect shape and then suddenly had a leak in it while they were sitting in it, I thought "oh, of course!". Surface doesn't require me to use any brain cells though and that's why I like it. I can only devote that much thought to one show, which is LOST ;) WishIWasInOahu 12-08-2005, 11:37 PM Surface doesn't require me to use any brain cells though and that's why I like it. I like diversions. I think so much during my day job. Sometimes not thinking a lot is o.k. :ohwell: BurningStar4 12-10-2005, 04:10 PM Haha, I love watching The Lost World when it's on at 5am and I'm still awake. But the show is just bad, the plot is bad and the special effects are bad, the acting is decent for the type of show it is. I've actually seen all the episodes because they repeat them in chronological order, do you know how it ends, in the book, because the TV show never really ended. I've actually seen all the episodes because they repeat them in chronological order, do you know how it ends, in the book, because the TV show never really ended. I have no idea how Lost World ended. How did it end? I know they killed off one of the characters on the t.v. show...the reporter and the blond heroine's love interest. I was sad. :frown: So what happened in the end? Yep...the special effects were awful but I liked the characters and the premise of the show. BurningStar4 12-11-2005, 03:37 PM They killed off the blonde dude? I never read the books so I have no clue how it ended, but the TV show ended with a cliffhanger but it never got picked up for a next season, so it never really ended. I didn't know the blonde guy was killed though....I thought he was just missing for a while or something? I can't really remember clearly how the show ended but it was something to do with some sort of time warp or something zoning in on the treehouse and I remember Veronica doing something I think, I don't know I raelly am making no sense lol. lost-extra1 01-02-2006, 09:52 PM So, how did everyone enjoy tonights episode? I thought the whole thing with the video tape was a bust, after all the buildup. But the very end with Miles and the steerlights was interesting. Also, only 4 more episodes?! WTH! At least the preview looks good. JohnnyREB1977 01-04-2006, 09:03 AM I thought Monday's episode was decent. I knew they were going to do that to Rich and Doughetry, though (the tape fiasco). The Miles/lights thing was very cool, though. And I can't wait to see next week's epi, just hate that there are only four more left. lost-extra1 01-04-2006, 10:47 AM Well, since the preview didn't say whether the finale would be series or season, I emailed a somebody I know, who has close friends that work on the show. He said that because of production costs (IE, all the location shoots, shooting at the NC aquarium, Special FX), it's unlikely there will be a second season. But, there's no official word. So, I'm going to bet that the upcoming finale will be left where it'll wrap things up, but still have the possibility of a second season. WishIWasInOahu 01-05-2006, 02:56 AM I'll bet that you are right because they are definitely making it sound more like there are four more episodes period than four more episodes this season. That sucks but at least Nim's still alive LOL Charlie-Survivor 01-05-2006, 08:25 AM That sucks but at least Nim's still alive LOL Oh totally lol! BurningStar4 01-07-2006, 11:05 PM Hey guys, I missed Surface monday :( I hear Nim is alive, I knew it! I hope I didn't miss much though.... WishIWasInOahu 01-09-2006, 01:07 AM No I wouldn't worry about it... you could check if it reruns on the SciFi channel though. Quick recap though - Laura and Rich or Rick or whatever got their tape of the creatures onto the news but they made it look like it was fake, and Nim is alive of course, and Miles is starting to turn into a Nim (like his hands don't get pruney anymore and stuff) and this girl at the aquarium is all over Miles and convinced him to take her scuba diving in the tank with Nim, but Miles' boss catches them and fires Miles (and it turns out that he is that girl's dad). Hmmm... that's all I can think right now... you should be ready for tomorrow/tonight now  BurningStar4 01-09-2006, 01:27 AM No I wouldn't worry about it... you could check if it reruns on the SciFi channel though. If you can't describe it that is fine! lost-extra1 01-09-2006, 10:14 AM How was the video "fake" looking? They got the video to a news station, and Laura had a friend who worked there. She got them a meeting with the station execs, who put up a whole story on it, with interviews, and whatnot. Then at the end the two reporters talking about it say something like "I think I could do just as good with my own 3d software.) But they still get it out when they put it up on what I believe was a Torrent website. Princess Arwen 01-09-2006, 11:23 AM No I wouldn't worry about it... you could check if it reruns on the SciFi channel though. Hmmm... that's all I can think right now... you should be ready for tomorrow/tonight now  Miles is starting to turn into a Nim? I missed last week's episode. Wow! Will Nim #1 stop Miles' transformation? When Miles was hurt Nim healed him apparently knowing that otherwise Miles would die. Perhaps Nim#1 will realize Miles cannot become a Nim and live. That would be a great story line. BurningStar4 01-09-2006, 06:05 PM They got the video to a news station, and Laura had a friend who worked there. She got them a meeting with the station execs, who put up a whole story on it, with interviews, and whatnot. Then at the end the two reporters talking about it say something like "I think I could do just as good with my own 3d software.) But they still get it out when they put it up on what I believe was a Torrent website. Ah I see, thanks! :) I tivo'd the episode for tonight because I'll be gone, hopefully I can catch up with it later tonight... Princess Arwen....Nim was trying to turn Miles into a Nim?? What???? ladyrune24 01-09-2006, 06:09 PM I just want Nim to get away from the scientists before they decide to dissect him! Princess Arwen 01-09-2006, 07:04 PM ..Princess Arwen....Nim was trying to turn Miles into a Nim?? What???? See post #83 in this thread. :frown: Charlie-Survivor 01-09-2006, 10:17 PM Yeah tonights episode rocked!! lost-extra1 01-09-2006, 10:21 PM I thought this was the best episode yet, but that girl that designed the creatures was weird! WishIWasInOahu 01-10-2006, 12:47 AM Ya she was really weird! and Nim's purring was cute too. :) Too bad there are only like three more eppys! blahbityblah 01-10-2006, 07:37 AM Multi-tasking is just not my thing. I need to rewatch Surface too. The only part I really saw was when that Goonies chick showed up in the helicopter. ladyrune24 01-10-2006, 07:43 AM Where did you hear that there are only 3 eps left? Charlie-Survivor 01-10-2006, 08:20 AM Ya she was really weird! and Nim's purring was cute too. :) Too bad there are only like three more eppys! Hopefully the network will decide to renu it for a second season. lost-extra1 01-10-2006, 08:58 AM Where did you hear that there are only 3 eps left? The preview after last weeks episode said there were only 4 episodes left, but it didn't say until the series finale or season. About that, look for a post I made at the bottom of page 8. Plus, there's no episode next week. Golden Globes  :frown: Princess Arwen 01-10-2006, 09:41 AM O.K. guys! HELP! I missed last night's episode. Can anyone give me a recap? :frown: Is Miles still turning into a Nim? What is Nim doing about Miles? Nim must know Miles cannot turn into a Nim. Yes? No?:frown: lost-extra1 01-10-2006, 10:19 AM Here's the best I can do. The scientist guy from the aquarium called Miles back in when Nim attacked one of the workers. Miles puts some salt on the floor and Nim comes to him and starts purring. Miles goes to a party with the girl from last episode (they kiss and she says his mouth tasted weird), and when they're there two guys go swimming and disappear(they find the bodies the next day). Miles is still worried about turning into a creature. He's in the bathroom, and his eyes start to look like Nim's. Then he starts going berserk and the power goes out in the house. At the same time, Nim goes berserk at the aquarium. Miles is talking to the girl, and they kiss again. This time, Miles puts his hands on her face, then when he pulls them away there's some sort of slime on his hands. Laura and Rich manage to escape the government agents(Rich manages to know one of them out and get his gun) and they go to the house of Laura's friend(the reporter). They're on the computer reading e-mails from people about the video. They get one that has a picture of the flower from Dr. Cirko's office. Then whoever sent the e-mail takes over they're computer and starts talking to them. He tells them he wants to examine the tissue samples that Laura got, and in return he'll give them answers. He also tells them to go to an address, and he gives them a code. Turns out the code is a number on a library book. They find a pouch with money, debit cards, and fake ID's behind the book. There's also a cell phone. The person calls them and tells them where to meet him to exchange the tissue samples. Laura has her Ex-husband get the samples from her old lab. They take them to the place, which is an empty field. An ultralight aircraft lands and a woman gets out. She blindfolds Laura and flies her to a lab. Tuns out she's the person wh wanted to examine the tissue. She says that she's working for a corperation that doesn't exist, and that the corperation created the creatures. When asked why they did it, she says "Because we can." Princess Arwen 01-10-2006, 10:28 AM Here's the best I can do. Will Nim realize Miles will not be healthy and well if Miles turns into a Nim? addicted2much 01-10-2006, 11:21 AM Weren't ET and Elliott connected in E.T. , when E.T. was sick Elliott almost died. I am just waiting for flying bicycles  Princess Arwen 01-10-2006, 02:40 PM I am trying to remember if in prior episodes of Surface Nim and Miles were connected telepathically. I remember Miles was in the hospital and was going to die and Nim came to him, cried a tear in Miles wound and healed Miles. JohnnyREB1977 01-10-2006, 02:41 PM Last night's episode rocked! They have got to bring this show back now. I was in a like mood last night. Now I love it! That was the best episode yet. BurningStar4 01-10-2006, 04:46 PM Johnny, is the show ending or something?? I have to agree last nights episode was definitely the best yet. I loved the whole storyline with the new know-it-all Doctor, played by one of the girls from The Goonies. lost-extra1 01-10-2006, 04:51 PM Johnny, is the show ending or something?? Check out my post at the bottom of page 8. BurningStar4 01-10-2006, 04:56 PM Thanks Lost-Extra....Wow, only 4 more? Well I hope it ends on a high note! Princess Arwen 01-10-2006, 06:51 PM Check out my post at the bottom of page 8. From your post it looks like the program is wrapping up for the season but there is a chance there will be a Season 2. Right? addicted2much 01-10-2006, 06:56 PM I don't think the ratings have been bad, so unless they have a lot of great shows in development it should be back. lost-extra1 01-10-2006, 09:41 PM From your post it looks like the program is wrapping up for the season but there is a chance there will be a Season 2. Right? Right ;) It's all about the money. I'll contact the guy again after the finale and see if there's any final word. Princess Arwen 01-11-2006, 08:52 AM Right ;) It's all about the money. I'll contact the guy again after the finale and see if there's any final word. Does it vary when these shows know if they are going to picked up for another season? I would assume it would depend on the ratings as well as money. Yes? No? lost-extra1 01-11-2006, 09:33 AM Does it vary when these shows know if they are going to picked up for another season? I would assume it would depend on the ratings as well as money. Yes? No? Well, what he said was that after all the money they've spent so far, they would have to have extremely high ratings to consider returning. BurningStar4 01-11-2006, 01:09 PM Its mainly about ratings. I mean, if a show is rated very high then of course money is not a big issue. LOST wouldn't have survived if ratings and fan bases were not so high. In order for Surface to stay around for Season 2 there would have to be high ratings over these next few episodes, if ratings jump higher than normal then I'm sure they would consider making Season 2, but they would also have to feel pretty confident that Season 2would not flop. I know that sometimes if enough people write letters to a network, or sign a petition about getting an old TV show on DVD, the network or whomever owns the rights will finally release it (this has been an ongoing battle with Twin Peaks Season 2 - Finally, there is supposedly going to be a release this Spring). So possibly, if enough people signed a petition for Season 2, they would consider doing it if they saw the fan base was big enough. ladyrune24 01-14-2006, 08:49 PM I just really hope they don't cut it lose without a good conclusion. What's happening to Miles and is it reversable? Can he be the one to save us or will it be the end of him? Please don't turn Nim too evil!!!! Princess Arwen 01-15-2006, 09:53 AM I just really hope they don't cut it lose without a good conclusion. What's happening to Miles and is it reversable? Can he be the one to save us or will it be the end of him? Please don't turn Nim too evil!!!! I think Nim really cares for Miles and once he realizes Miles can not turn into a Nim and be healthy, Nim will then save the day! BurningStar4 01-15-2006, 11:00 AM Well if the show is not going to come back for a Second Season, I want to know if Miles is ever going to meet up with the Doctor and that guy (I don't know their names, isn't that sad?). When the show began I kind of got the impression that eventually all 3 characters would meet and team together to solve the mystery, I was hoping that Miles would eventually find them and bring Nim too so the Doctor could possibly study it or something. Chrio1 01-15-2006, 11:34 PM I am waiting for them to meet up too. I also feel bad for Miles and his transformation. Sum1Lost 01-24-2006, 09:08 AM I haven't seen this yet but I will once it reaches my country. I'm watching Boston Legal season 1 and Lake Bell is a damn good actress and rather incredibly sexy as well. ladyrune24 01-24-2006, 10:08 AM So who saw last night's ep? I sort of hated the beginning but loved the ending, except for the fact that Lee probably killed Mrs. Big. I really liked her character even if she was a bit loopy. But the ending with Miles was awesome. I really hope that they do at least do more than two to wrap up all the questions I have. I don't see it making more than two seasons, but here's praying for at least more than 2 more eps. For those who feel strongly about this, there's a motion on the NBC boards to write letters (not e-mails) and attach a packet of salt saying, "Save Nim Donations" (or something like that), Of course, in this day and time, there's some hesitation over sending any white powder through the US Mail so ... that's up to whoever but if you are, at least write the "Salt for the Save Nim Cause" or something similiar. Maybe if enough is sent, it will hit the news and shot up ratings ;-) lostgurl 01-24-2006, 10:40 AM I liked last nights episode, but what was up with the talking monkey? that was kind of dumb. lost-extra1 01-24-2006, 10:52 AM I really hope that they do at least do more than two to wrap up all the questions I have. I don't see it making more than two seasons, but here's praying for at least more than 2 more eps. Well, thing is that they wrapped up filming back in early December. So if they were to make more episodes, we probably wouldn't get them until March. Personally, I think Miles has been appointed as the Lizard King. That, or someone from the firm slipped the creature DNA into him at some time. That ending with Lee on the video was surprising, but logical. Also, looking at how that video was presented, can anyone say Orientation rip-off? ladyrune24 01-24-2006, 10:56 AM I liked last nights episode, but what was up with the talking monkey? that was kind of dumb. Yea, that totally stank. I was thinking it was the dr.'s son kidnapped, then possibly a survivor to say what happened in the lab. Well, I guess it kind of was. I think they had it attack Rich to make him even more paranoid and violent. I mean this corp took his family from him, especially his brother, and now there's nothing to stop them or the Nessies from killing more innocent people so, I guess, Rich is going to become the American WereApe in ... well...America  That's all I could come up with. ladyrune24 01-24-2006, 11:04 AM Well, thing is that they wrapped up filming back in early December. It had more of an Norwegian expedition film from the "Thing" kind of feel to it for me but that might be because I've watched that movie recently. I don't think the firm has anything to do with what's happening to Miles. I think it's just Nim's licking him, like what happened to the man whose face was burned in the lab earlier in the season. Apparently, when the Nimmies bite, they infect the wound, hence Miles about to die. Then when they lick it, there's a DNA/RNA transfer. How? I'm not certain but that's the take I'm getting. I'm just not real sure how Miles is going to deal with Nim's "Mum" or vice versa. BurningStar4 01-24-2006, 01:23 PM I thought the monkey thing was cool, I think they crossbred a human and a monkey, that is totally insane! I can't wait until next week's episode, these last few have been really good. I can't believe that the almighty scientific chick who was in the Goonies is probably going to die, or already has... And that Asian guy must have found some way to keep regenerating new skin or something right? Couldn't that be an explanation for why he looks so young, or somehow it just made him younger altogether, or maybe he figured out a way to clone a younger version of himself, who knows, but that was nuts too. I can't wait to see how this show ends and what direction they go in with the "things". JohnnyREB1977 01-26-2006, 04:07 PM I didn't get to watch it until yesterday. Was at a Lee-Jackson banquet Monday night. Thought the episode was great, though. The little rabid Ewok thing scared the bejesus outta me at first *lol*. WishIWasInOahu 01-27-2006, 12:26 AM LOL the monkey-kid thing scared the bejesus out of me too!!! I didn't like it. hehehe But the episode itself was good. So... is the next episode going to be THE last episode? at least for right now but maybe forever, right? OnAonXM 01-27-2006, 12:29 AM I think there's two more. ladyrune24 01-30-2006, 10:25 AM I think there's two more. <still terribly upset over that!> I loved the last ep. The rabid Ewok was majorly freaky, especially when it was talking but the last scene with Miles leading the Nims into the water...AWESOME!! I WANT MORE NIMMIES!!!!!! I don't know what I'm going to do without him. Does anyone know where I can get a Nim screen saver, like when he was swimming in the tank or purring? Yes, purring! I would be very thankful! lost-extra1 01-30-2006, 10:53 PM Whoa! Who would have guessed that they were building an Ark?! Since the preview said season finale, I see two possibilities: 1: The good idea; they resolve things but leave it open for a next season 2. They leave us with a major cliffhanger And if there ends up being no season 2, then I would hate it if they did the second choice! BurningStar4 01-30-2006, 11:41 PM There must be a second season if they went on the record saying "season finale", I mean at least things must look in their favor that they will have a second season. There definitely has to be some sort of cliffhanger involving the tsunami next week. I really like the direction the show is going right now and I'd hate for it to not return, but by the sounds of the preview it seems like it will be. JohnnyREB1977 01-31-2006, 08:50 AM Yes!!!!!!!! A second season! I loved the Ark thing. I loved Psycho-Miles and his Amazing Electric Powers. Didn't much care for Daugherty turnin' tail and running from everything, but I can undertand it. She wanted to get back to her kid. Ironically, it was both Rich's and D's ability to just leave their families that irked me in the beginning (as well as Rich's wife's inability to do the right thing and stand by her husband). I cannot wait to see next week's episode. There's gonna be a flood! Methinks Koestler has a God complex. BurningStar4 02-08-2006, 02:30 AM Okay who saw the season finale? I thought it was really well done and enjoyed it. Anyway I really want everyone here to sign this petition I discovered to help keep the show for a second season. It may not help or work but it is worth at least signing for a chance. http://new.petitiononline.com/surface/petition.html Ferrel 02-08-2006, 01:51 PM I saw the season finale. It had better not be a series finale. I recorded all the episodes, but didn't watch them until after the Monday finale. I marathoned all 15 episodes yesterday. My thoughts? It's a good show, not a great one, but a good one. I find the acting a little stiff and the writing a little cheesy, but the story was pretty good even if the suspension of belief was kinda high. There were a lot of plot points that were not resolved. Here's what I want to know if there is to be a second season. What genes were used to create the monsters. (Dinosaur and human?) What was the agenda for making the monsters. (Destroying the world to remake it?) The whole collecting 2 of every species thing. (Noah's ark?) The big hole that the monorail disappeared into. (A safe place to hide?) Well here's hoping there is a 2nd season. johnnywishbone 02-08-2006, 04:01 PM I haven't had a chance to watch the finale yet, but I have seen all the episodes leading up to it. I really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 episodes but then felt every single episode up until the last 2 were so unbelieveably boring. I agree with Ferrel with respect to the acting and writing, but I did enjoy the basic premise of the story. I hear that the finale was prolly the best episode of the season, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the next couple of days. If it isn't real good, I think I'll prolly drop the show from my list if they come back for a second season.:undecide: I wasn't even aware that they hadn't signed em up for a second season. BurningStar4 02-08-2006, 08:33 PM They should know in May if Surface will be returning next season or not. I think the acting and writing has gotten a lot better since the beginning. The show did not start out with a powerful bang in every category like LOST did, but I think it has potential and has shown how much it can grow and become a better show. WishIWasInOahu 02-12-2006, 11:57 PM Ya it actually has improved A TON since the beginning. I used to laugh at it's stupidness through every episode, but now I look forward to watching it and it is a lot more suspensful and real feeling than it used to be. I really hope there will be a second season because there are still so many unanswered questions. I felt like they went with an ending that could go either way. The "new world" thing could be used as the very end, but on the other hand, all of the unanswered questions make a second season an option. I  Nim!!! ladyrune24 05-17-2006, 11:35 AM If there are some Surface fans here, a large group of us are trying to get the stupid execs at NBC to rethink leaving it out of their schedule. Of course the only thing these guys understand it money and I found out that Surface season 1 DVD set is available for pre-order today. So, if you, your friends, family, coworkers, etc., buy or pre-order this set, it might bring SURFACE back on the air (it supposedly worked for Family Guy and SURFACE is SO much better than this. Please pre-order your copy today. I'm getting mine and one for my best friend (early Christmas shopping). PLEASE HELP US SAVE SURFACE!!!! I can also provide email and snail mail addresses to anyone who wants them because that could never hurt either. HELP US BRING NIMMIE BACK! BurningStar4 05-17-2006, 06:07 PM It could work, but most likely will not seeing as the *new* shows they scheduled sound better then Surface, and will probably gain more viewers, and the shows already scheduled have more viewers. The only real hope of saving Surface is to push for it on the Sci-Fi channel, so I would go that route. |
