Hi there everybody,
I already got the RC1-DVD-set (including the Best Buy-bonus disc  ) and love it.
Now the set has become available in Europe as well I'd like to know more about these releases.
In the UK two sets ("Season 1 - Part 1" and "Season 1 - Part 2") featuring four discs, respectively, were released. So far I haven't stumbled upon any reviews of these, yet. Can anybody here provide me with links? I wonder why they got eight discs. Is it because PAL has a slightly higher resolution than NTSC and therefore needs more space on the discs? Or is there any additional stuff on the UK-DVDs? Does anybody happen to have a pic of the discs in the packaging? I wonder what method they used in the UK.
Thank you very much in advance for your support!

As far as I know, the only reason for this was the fact that only about half of the episodes of the first season had aired by the time the first set came out! (So in short: they wanted to make money ASAP...)
And judging from the special features lists on hmv.co.uk here (http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=285;5;-1;-1&sku=413190) and here (http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=285;5;-1;-1&sku=438335), they neither got (or are going to get in the case of Part 2) any additional stuff nor is there anything missing...

Maybe you should change the title of the thread because the UK realease is not the R2 release. It's just one R2 release... this is not supposed to sund bitchy or anything but there is more to R2 than just the UK, you know...
In Germany we got 1 box set with 7 discs. For some reason (maybe for the German audio taking up more space) Exodus 3 ended up on disc 7 (which in the US contains all the special features) which means that 1 or 2 of the special features of the US DVDs are missing.

Wait, so not only did they change or leave out some of the bonus features, they also made two episodes out of one? Am I glad I decided to get the US-edition of the set...

Uumm... well... Exodus has always been 3 episodes... just that part 2 and 3 were aired together in the US. So technically 2+3 were never just 1 epsiodes, same with the pilot.

Actually, Part 3 officially doesn't exist (e.g. the press releases only mention "Exodus, Part 2"), so it doesn't exist for me as well... ;)
ETA: I guess this has something to do with the fact the episode was initially supposed to be a normal "60-minutes-with-ad-breaks-episode", but was extended twice...

Thanx a lot for replying to this thread! It's good to read you again, Starrox! And hi there, Majandra!

I see. ;)

Oh, HMV - great idea! Thanx a lot!

Being an egoistic only child I hope so! ;) I wonder, though, because both sets feature deleted scenes ...
And what kind of special feature is "An Island Of Secrets Still To Be Revealed" (on the first set) supposed to be?

I do know that, of course; that's why I wrote "... in Europe ...". Originally I had meant to ask about the German release as well. But just when I was about to start my thread I stumbled about detailed information on this set in the Cinefacts-forum. So I deleted that part again but forgot to adapt the title. Sorry for not being completely exact.
I had hoped for English subtitles on the bonus material in the german set but there are only german ones (I'm a little spoiled by the german "Star Trek"-sets in this regard.) so there's no reason at all for me to switch my sets.

That's how I see it as well.
