I am really enjoying Project Runway...so far. I think the designers are a lot better this year and I've agreed with the choice of winners and losers.

I'm enjoying it too. I would have liked to see what the cute girl from Carter's could have done, I wish she had made it another episode or 2.

I agree totally! He definitely is talented, I will give him that, but he is so arrogant. It drives me crazy. Chloe and Nick are just as talented - I love their designs - but they are so much nicer and not horrifically obnoxious. I really hope Santino doesn't win.

Also, I was really upset that Marla stayed in over Guadalupe. Guadalupe's design wasn't the most beautiful thing ever, but at least it showed imagination and creativity. Marla's was just plain awful. Here's hoping she goes tomorrow!

Man, Santino is my favorite designer on this season, he REALLY needs to watch himself during Judging or his attitude is going to get him knocked off here really soon. Marla was on the show WAY longer than she deserved to be, thats for sure!

Santino will probably go on to be successful in the fashion world. But as a human being he is pathetic. Fortunately he is going into a career that caters to arrogance, greed, and foolish trends.

Haha, you said it Julie!!! :smile: As for tonight's episode: I was so excited that Heidi and all were ready to kick Santino off. He does his own thing and won't every listen. I was disappointed Emmit was kicked out instead, but for ratings, I'm sure they'd rather have drama-filled Santino. And Emmit was kinda a boring designer. But it bodes well for Santino eventually getting the boot!!!

Oh and I thought Chloe's dress was just beautiful - well as beautiful as skating costumes come.

Yes, I think the judges were really leaning towards Chloe's blue outfit, I thought it was more polished and unique compared to the white outfit. But a gal knows what will look good on her so i guess Sasha was playing it safe. I for one would not leave the house dressed in that tiny little thing--no way.

Hey juleyah! Nice to meet you! :smile: I think the general consensus of all the Runway fans I know is that Santino is talented and has produced some great designs, but we all hate him as a person. Sooo arrogant.

And while some of his designs are beautiful - like the one for Nikky Hilton - some of them are just awful too. His lingerie was just terrible. He needs to learn when to reign it in.

I think it's probably both. In all reality shows, the editors can manipulate the footage to bring out only one side of a person. I'm sure they've done that to a certain degree with Santino, but they only can do that because he does have that side to him. He's an interesting character.

I was pretty surprised Zulema got booted. I didn't really like hers, but I thought Kara was gone for sure. It does make me happy that Santino was so close to losing again!

I like Daniel's design, though Andrae's was really nice too. That was a weird episode - I liked it, it was just kind of odd. Only Daniel, Andrae and Chloe made something the judges liked. The other four weren't very good. Which was especially odd since Nick is usually spot on.

I'm thinking next week will either be Kara or Santino getting kicked out.

I know, me too!! I was totally pulling for Nick, Daniel and Chloe to make it. And you're right, it's all the guest judge's fault. Kara was miserable in the outfit and the sleeve was FALLING OFF! Was not even fully attached anymore. And yet it was poor Nick who got booted for poor construction. At least one of Daniel's pant legs didn't fall off. Yes, I am rather bitter about this. I feel like Santino has gotten far more breaks than he deserves.

I couldn't agree more. I started watching a little later in the show (the "clothes off their backs" episode), and I instantly couldn't stand Santino. I can't fathom how he's made it this far . . . especially after the disaster he called his figure skating outfit.I just want Daniel to make it all the way. He's awesome.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here - but I like Santino. Yea, he's rude and nasty sometimes, and his designs are over the top - but he makes the show interesting. I'm routing for Daniel in the end - but know when Santino goes - so does the excitement.

No. I'm not surprised, just kinda disappointed!

I don't really think Kara deserved to be in the final three, but neither did Santino! Ugh. I just wish he wasn't so arrogant! And his dress was so ugly - no one would wear that on the red carpet! I just really hope Santino doesn't win.

Honestly, I was most surprised that Chloe said she wasn't sure if she really wanted to win. At that point - I wanted her to go too. Also, the others took full advantage of that during the Q & A - including Daniel and Kara saying they wanted Chloe out.

As arrogant and annoying as Santino is, I was actually glad that he got into the final three instead of Kara because in all honesty I'm a lot more curious to see what Santino pulls out during the finals then Kara.

I'm curious too. I have a feeling his designs won't be as wild and crazy too. He'll probably do a lot a beautiful stuff - because... he is capable of it. Next Wednesday they have the reunion show - I can't wait to hear everyone dis each other!

I have seen the pics of the collections and I saw pieces I liked from each collection and pieces I hated.

The Reunion Show wasn't as spectacular as the first season reunion.

I watched both shows...I thought Heidi was a jerk for not wearing his dress...as is she could look bad in anything. She chose to wear a glorified mumu instead of Jay's flashy red dress...whatever. The reunion show was OK. Lupe is loopy...she was on something for sure...at least I hope so because if that's her true self I am scared very very scared. Santino apologized for hurting people's feelings...I don't buy it he still has no taste for fashion or manners. Nick backing Santino--I think he's just trying to mend fences with Santino because he sees Santino as the "star" of the show and doesn't want to be on his bad side forever. The singing was funny as hell, they should have featured that alot more I think it would have made Santino seem less hostile, more like the class clown not the class bully.

Oh my goodness, the singing was hilarious! :smile: I loved Santino and Nick's Daniel Franco song especially. As much as Santino can annoy me a lot of the time, I must admit he is hilarious.

And Guadalupe is ridiculous. She was either high or drunk or both. That was so weird. Wasn't she talking about Brokeback Mt. or something? So odd... It made for an interesting reunion though.

I'm on team Daniel V :D But Santino is absolutely hilarious, and I loved watching his Tim Gunn impressions. He seriously needs his own CD in which he does Tim Gunn singing random songs. I would totally buy it.

Oh man, I just might bring my laptop down and do homework in front of the telly because that's just how addicted to this show I am.

I could not stop laughing at Santino and his whole story of Andre and Tim Gunn at Red Lobster. I saved it on my DVR and will not erase it because I think it's the funniest thing I've seen on TV in a long time. As for my vote for who I want to win...it's Santino and has been since day one. I love his designs, and his outrageous attitude. THough I think he was soooo rude to Nina Garcia.

Santino's attitude has thankfully slightly died down since day 1. At least he stopped making his outfits so over the top that the judges always mention how he went 'too far.' But Daniel is so my pick. I even liked the designs of his the judges didn't like.

Santino is so quirky and outrageous that I think he will probably be a smashing success regardless of whether or not he wins Project Runway! I haven't liked everything he's done, but I do really like the pink t-shirt he designed for their website. It's got a floral heart and in the center are stylized letters spelling out Santino. Then there's some tiny wording underneath that I can't even read when I blow the picture up. Can anyone tell me what the little wording says?

I miss Andrae for the dramatic faces he made!!! So funny!!!

And who here feels that Nick should have been in the final? I liked his designs - they were very feminine.

It was great seeing a softer side of Santino, if the little kids can love him he can't be all bad :laughing: I loved Santino's dress that I guess will be the finale of his collection.

I didn't like Chloe's gold and pink outfit. She usually does things so fitted and sleek to see something with so much bulk seemed off. Chloe is going to have a breakdown coming up with another piece for the collection. I was shocked she chose Diana . I just knew she would choose Kara, but I guess Diana might have better sewing skills or she thought Diana would just do what she was told.

I think Tim has the right idea about Daniel's collection, although I love the cashmere coat. The vest Dan did reminds me of what I thought was his worst oufit which was the muslin give us an idea of who you are as a designer initial challenge. Tim was right on target about the purses being wood shop , they looked like they were from a make your own purse kit you could buy at Wal-Mart.

I guess I'm shocked that before the runway show I like Santino's collection best.

First: I think this would have worked better as a dress instead of a top.
Second: OK , I don't really like the lace around the bottom of the dress and I hate the knit caps .
Third: OK, I would like to see the dress without the jacket
Fourth: Don't like the shorts over leggings bag lady chic look.
Fifth: I like the plaid jacket
Sixth: I like this dress. I think the blue and copper is a nice mix
Seventh: OK
Eight:Suspenders over bare skin :puke:
Nine: I kind of like the neckline because it is different but I hate the empire waist with that neckline.
Ten: I like this look the purple really pops
Eleven: I'm not a big fan of tiered fabrics but I like where the layers hit except for the waistline .The model looks pregnant.
Twelve: The knit hat doesn't bother me on this I guess the gloves make it make sense.

Spoilery PR discussion

I liked Chloe's the best, followed by Santino, followed by Daniel. I loved Daniel's designs in the rest of the season, so it's too bad that his collections doesn't look as good now.
My only comment on their outfits is the poofiness. I really don't like poofy clothes, I like stuff that's baggy or form fitting. Poofy should be reserved for prom dresses.

Yayyyy!!! Go Chloe!! I was so happy for her. I liked her collection the best - her color palette was so feminine and beautiful. And she was so solid the entire show that she deserved to win.

I was happy too that Daniel V come in second - he has so much talent and I've loved so much of what he's done.

As for Santino, I did like a lot of his dresses. But I think Nina was right - they were very not-Santino.

The clothes definitely looked better seeing them on the models as they walked down the runway. I still like most of Santino's dresses better as individual pieces , but Chloe's was the better line.

I liked the colors Kara used - especially in the purple & blue kimono wrap dress. But about half of her collection didn't appear to be connected to the other half in any way. It looked like 2 different designers showing 2 completely different looks. :confused:

As for the winner: As far as the show goes, I think the judges called it right. Chloe's evening wear was dramatic and perfectly fitted to the models' bodies. Daniel V had a few Kara moments where certain pieces did not appear to fit in with the "story" of his collection and that was a big sticking point with the judges.

Santino's collection had a major flaw with fitting. Heidi was so right, the boobs were in the wrong place! As I watched the models walk down the runway, I kept thinking the models had really low boobs or something. Then when Heidi made that comment I realized it was the fit of the dress that was all wrong - not the models themselves! :lol:

Santino's collection did not reflect his personality at all! Part of what made his outfits so cool and memorable all season was the outrageousness of his design and all the "extras" that he tended to sew on at the last moment. His collection was definitely too safe and did not scream "Santino" at all. :( That said, I liked the pieces in this collection better - looking at them from the point of practicality. I would be able to actually WEAR these clothes! :biggrin: I'll be keeping an eye out for this designer when they strike out on their own. :smile:

I agree, addicted2much! I think this season was better overall too. I loved the challenges this season - they were so varied. I also liked the designers better this year, not neccesarily as designers, but as people to watch. I found the show more entertaining. Maybe that's totally because of Santino, Andrae and Tim Gunn though.... :wink1:

I do agree with that too, as Kara and Jay had amazing collections last year. I do think all three this year though were better than Wendy's. She had some nice pieces, but hers was even less of a collection than Daniel V's. Ugh - I didn't really like hers.

Project Runway: Season 3 (http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/) has just started its run on Bravo!

The first show let us see how they cast the designers/contestants. Episode 1 ran right after the casting show and then Episode 2 ran this week. So we are still in the beginning of the show! It's not too late to join in! :laughing:

I hope there are others watching PR 3 because we get a little fanatical about it in my house. :blink: It's fun to pretend we are fashionistas, even if we are only doing it from the couch. ;)

I caught a bit of the premiere show, but something else was on the rest of the family wanted to watch ... but I will definately get up to speed and watch the new shows.

The bit I caught had Tim saying this was the most talented bunch so far. I hope he's right.


Late at night I've caught Project Catwalk (UK) and it's just as good, but with really cool accents. :biggrin:

I finally started watching this show last week when they had a premiere on nbc. They had to make clothes out of fabrics and anything they could find in their rooms. It looks interesting and I will definitely tune in tonight.

I love love love this show! I don't have cable at my apartment, so I've been watching episodes on Monday on NBC. Does anyone know when they repeat episodes on Bravo on the weekends? I go out to my parent's house then and I keep missing it.

Does anyone have any favorites so far? I'm still undecided.

I saw the episode that booted Malan a few days ago on Bravo. The show is supposed to air on Bravo on Wednesdays at 10/9central but they show several repeats throughout the week so if you miss it, you can definitely catch up.

I was FURIOUS :angryfire that they let Malan go when Angela didn't even sketch an idea!!! And if this challenge was about teamwork, Vincent or Angela should have gone home. Vincent was a control-freak and Angela's sewing skills were questionable at best. :doh:

Malan's exit interview was just about the saddest, most pitiful thing I have EVER seen! :sadwave: I don't know anyone who didn't cry, or at least mist up a bit. That really broke my heart. :broken_heart:

Malan truly surprised me. He seemed a bit snooty at first, but then he began to show his genuinely warm personality. I sent a message to him on his myspace account and he actually wrote me back! I can't believe he took the time to do that since I know he has received a ton of support mail. He was very very sweet. :mushy: I wish him all the best.

I like Jia, Narzi, and Moon so far.

I love Katie Biassou's face but her walk is waaaay too over-dramatic for me. She swings her hips out SO far that I think it really ruins the line of the dress. I was especially distracted by her walk when she wore Kayne's dress. Pageant contestants don't walk that way so the dress didn't show as well. In her picture for Rate the Runway (http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/rate/season/3/episode/2/2), her hip is thrust far out to the side and her belly sticks waaay out. I just don't think her movements are flattering at all.

Katie Champion got super-lucky getting hooked up with Laura! She will probably get to the finals on that alone! But to me her face is just too "cutesy" for haute couture runway modeling.

I discovered both Project Runway and Project Catwalk on Life channel (601) on my satellite. They were on late at night 12 and 1, and there was nothing on TV so I checked them out and was sooo hooked, I'd stay up till 1 just to watch it. :redface:

The Season 3 of Project Runway is on NBC, but I'm not sure if Season 1 and 2 were.

Anyways, I caught the last half of the show when Malan got the boot, and I agree he was robbed. His dress didn't wow me, but he didn't deserve to go. I watched his exit video, and it was touching.

I also watched all the other vids and am totally up to speed now. I especially loved the mom of 5's comment on the slippery slope of sweat pants and mini vans. :biggrin:

I don't have a clear fav yet.

I watched the vids on Jay, from season 1. LOVE HIM. I was surprised he hasn't done more, but his reasons are really good ones, and I wish him all the best.

I'm also a sucker for America's Next Top Model so I guess I pay more attention to the models than most. They really can affect the way an outfit falls, how it moves, etc.

Fashion critics will say that the best of the best can model a garbage bag and make it look great. Well, I wouldn't go that far ...... ;) But a good model can lend a bit of class to a simplistic piece. I think the worry comes in when you have a really baaad model.

A great model may not be able to save a freakishly designed dress, but a horrible model can absolutely ruin even the showcase piece of a designer's line. :lipsseal:

That is so cool LiL. I agree...he did come off snooty at first. And then when he said the story of how his own mother threw out his sketch book saying it ill amount to nothing? My heart broke in tiny pieces. And that Angela...ugh...and don't even get me started on Vincent. That is so cool he replied to you too. He is such a sweetheart indeed.

On his website/blog Malan said he was going to write to everyone that gave him loving support and I remember thinking, "there is no WAY he can do that!" But apparently it was important to him that he acknowledge everyone who sent their well wishes in a personal way.

I think they call that odd walk where they pick up their knees so high the Brazilian Stomp. A really great model can pull it off and it looks "fierce" :rolleyes: but when these newer, less experienced models try it it can come off looking just like you said:

I only got interested in the models themselves at the end of last season because it suddenly occurred to me that this is a competition for them too and the designers can really make or break the models' chances. :undecide:

I felt it was completely fair to Keith AND to the other contestants. There could have been no other way to handle it.

If you watch some of the extra video on the website (http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/), you see many of them discussing the situation and how big a deal it was for Keith to have a pattern making book. A lot of the contestants this year are already established designers within narrow fields that want to go national/global/what-have-you.

Kayne designs pageant gowns. Jeffrey designs performance outfits for rockers. And being that they are already fairly successful, they have reached that point in their career where they only design the clothes - they don't actually have to hand sew them. They hire people to do that! ;)

So, as Kayne explains in the video, having an instructional sewing book was very much a cheat because many of these designers have not sewn their own outfits for years and have forgotten a lot of techniques.

And the worst part is, Keith didn't even NEED those books!!! I loved his designs!!!

They didn't show Bradley discussing the situation very much on tv but in one of the videos where Keith is apologizing to the ladies on the show, he explains how incredibly upset Bradley was - because he shared a room with Keith and was freaked out at the thought that the judges might think HE had benefitted from those books also.

I did feel bad for Bradley because he was convinced that now all of his former work would be suspect and his ethics questioned because since he shared a room with Keith that meant he would potentially have had access to Keith's books.

The whole ordeal was a TAD overhyped. But how could you not watch? It was a pretty lame way to cheat--why did he have the books out in the open like that??? Is he that dense? He seemed to revel in breaking the rules all along. Note to future contestants: YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO SEW. Yknow, I have to say I would get really aggravated whenever something would come out that so-and-so designer didn't know how to sew, or couldn't use a sewing machine. What dolts! An aspiring fashion designer that doesn't know how to use a sewing machine??? WTF is that??? :irked:


Anyway, I came to this thread to post something from Malan. He is just the kindest, sweetest person I've ever come to know! (We've been emailing each other and he's been a rock of support to me during a recent difficult time) He's so sensitive and cute you just want to hug him like a teddy bear. :mushy:

He is crazy with stress right now because he is preparing for Fashion Week, so he posted this on his blog:

It is getting into a very busy time for me with fashion week so near. Please know I am thinking of you all and I thank you for your kindness and beautiful words. A part of each of you has inspired this season's collection.

each week i love the assignments more and more-last weeks was a HOOT!!!!!!!

robert's dress made the woan look like a fat bullfighter and i really think uli should have won-----vincent's was nice but uli's was well thought out b/c she used print and then stripes to elongate her models look

I agree that Michael will win, but I don't know about Laura being the final 3. Did you see the previews for this week? It looks like Laura just loses it. If she messes up her next project, she'll be out of there. Plus, her designs are always one note. The judges are looking for something that really wows them, and they seem to really like Jefferey and his craziness.

Those are my final three as well... I like Uli (since she's a fellow German), but her clothes are getting a bit repetitive indeed.

My little daughter (she's 7) LOVES Project Runway... she can give a perfect Heidi imitation of... "one day yoor inn, the next day yoor outttt!" :biggrin:

It was cool to see Angela and Vincent back, even though I knew they were gonna get kicked off again. But, dang!, they didn't even get the air kisses this time.

I think the final 3 will definately have Laura and Michael. But as for the 3rd person, it could be either Uli or Jeffery. The judges had the same comment about both of them - their designs never change. Uli is all about Miami Beach stuff and Jefferey is all about the rock star look. Neither one has moved out of their comfort zone. So, who the 3rd person is, I think, will depend on how Uli and Michael do next week - will they listen to the judges and try something new? It certainly worked for Laura.

And, poor Laura! She's so hormonal right now and this stress just seems to kick it up a notch.

As for Angela and Vincent having had a second chance... I think Alison would've been much more deserving, and her black/white clothes would've kicked butt! I don't think she's ever won a competition, though... but I remember her coming in second at least once... :confused:

I looked at the pics on another site and I really can't tell who is my fave. Last year, I loved Santino 's line in the still photos , but not nearly as much when the models walked.

I read in USAToday today :) that a (purely speculative) hint also might be that one of the designers was not showing a bathing suit in the collection... while all the others were.

That is true, but Michael has TWO bathing suits in his line. :confused:
However, I think this spoiler is on the money because I believe Michael already had a bathing suit in his collection and then they threw in the extra item as a bonus challenge - so he ended up with 2 bathing suits.

If I were a judge I'd hand it to Jeffrey based on his NY Fashion Week collection. I love his green/black striped blazer and handbags with the zipper applique - I'd so buy that! Didn't like Michael's at all and am actually quite disappointed at that... I thought Laura's and Uli's collections were pretty but too much of the same.

I'm glad they all have a chance.

Michael's dress was really bad last night. I think it would have looked better, if the front of the dress was the back of the dress.

Laura does love her plunging necklines. :laughing: They aren't really breast friendly. :)

I noticed that too. Do you think they are setting him up to take the prize? I have to say that even though I'm not much of a Jeffrey fan, the collection he presented at Fashion Week was very new and interesting.

The reunion show was great. Could Keith be more bitter?

He made some interesting claims. He said the books disappeared and then reappeared. It is possible someone in production removed them , but put them back for the drama of them being discovered. He knew they were not allowed. Several of the contestants in interviews said, they were told several times they could not have books and they seemed to say the same thing during the reunion.

I don't believe someone would just tell Keith to go , when they follow everyone to the bathroom and monitor their phone calls.

The scenes from next weeks look great...shades of Kara Saun.
