View Full Version : Amazing Race
miss emme 02-08-2006, 03:42 AM Woohoo! a new Amazing Race. Two hour premier Feb 28th at 9:00, I can't wait for it to start. Heres the official site with the new teams. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race9/ Anyone want to guess who will be the first team to lose?
Meet you at the starting line.
WishIWasInOahu 02-15-2006, 12:07 AM I'll be watching with you!
Hmmmm... If I had to guess who would be kicked off first, I'd say Lisa & Joni (the two mom looking ladies) or Fran & Barry (the older couple). Who knows though? Anything can happen. Thats part of what makes this show so awesome. My nails are always a mess after each episode LOL
addicted2much 02-28-2006, 12:17 PM The show premieres tonight and I have no idea, if I will watch or not . The family edition was awful . I know they had to take into consideration they might have young children in the later stages ,but it was sooooooo boring
I have seen that they are really hyping the adventure of the new edition.
Joshypoo 02-28-2006, 01:30 PM This season looks like a good one - some of the teams look wacky. Besides Lost - this is my favorite show! I love Phil!
Jezz1226 02-28-2006, 01:59 PM I just looked quickly over the bios and I'm thinking that either David/Scott or Lisa/Joni are going to be the first team to go. I have a feeling that Lisa and Joni are going to et on my nerves really quick, so I'm hoping they will go first.
tifscatku 02-28-2006, 03:05 PM YAY!!!! I'm so excited for a new season and I hope it won't be as bad as the last season. I had to stop watching it was sooooo horrible. I hate when reality shows mess with the formula. I have no idea who will lose tonight, but I think it will be fun to vote once we know the people a little more. Till tonight....(then Lost on Wednesday, Yay!!!)
Luanne 02-28-2006, 03:15 PM I hope they never do a family edition again, cause I missed so many episodes last season and instead watched House.
jennylee27 02-28-2006, 10:09 PM I'll be watching! Yeah, the family edition was horrible. But it won't dissuade me. Hey, some of you are probably watching the premier right now... I'll be catching up on TiVo.
lostgurl 02-28-2006, 11:41 PM I was a little surprised at the ending tonight, but otherwise I enjoyed it and I think it's going to be a good season. Those sisters got on my last nerve.
The hippie guys crack me up. It was... nice to see phil again. ;)
ETA- omg I forgot to mention the nerds. I lovedd the nerds, I thought they were fun to watch. Its fun to watch the ones that are really having fun along the way.
miss emme 03-01-2006, 02:41 AM Woohoo I was cheering when the mother, daughter team Wanda & Desiree, the nerds David and Lori (I love the nerds) and Fran & Barry stepped on the mat. I was so hoping the Frosties Lisa and Joni were the ones to get eliminated. When they were going up in the helicopter I was like shut-up already. Not liking the dentist and his wife, Lake and Michelle, hes a jerk. Already they're telling each other to shut-up, nice :glare: The hippies were kind of getting on my nerves there for abit, but l think they'll grow on me. Danielle & Dani the Double D's not sure about them although I loved their comment about Eric & Jeremy after they had introduced themselves "hi we're Eric and Jeremy, shut-up" Yolanda & Ray look like a very powerful couple and when they were putting together the motorcycle, you never heard a peep out of them. Eric & Jeremy summed up my feelings for them at the end "the idiots like we are" yeah. My feelings for them might change later tho'. I was happy that John got over his fear of flying and its too bad that John & Scott got eliminated, but someone had to go. Last but not least Joseph & Monica, Mo Jo. Hard to say what they'll be like, they had a moment in the airport where she looked like she was going to cry but got over it. Looks good can't wait for next week.
hellotzp 03-01-2006, 05:27 AM hah, fun thread! and good to see people saying what i felt - the family edition was so bad. i stopped watching, and wasn't sure i would come back... but after tonight's episode, looks like a return to the good stuff.
i like yolanda and ray. it was agonizing watching them put together that motorbike, with all the guys leering at her. that situation made me really uneasy and it was great to see them keep their cool. and the hippies won me over - i was really annoyed at first but they are actually pretty fun to watch. the frat boys are oddly likeable, too. the nerds could be my faves, if i can get past the sappy kissy-face stuff - though that is much better than being nasty. and the mother-daughter team - man they rock! they're like the latino gilmore girls, totally.
i may be in the minority on this one, but by the end of the show i was so sick of the big "glamazons" screaming and freaking out, that i am now hoping they will be eliminated next. and yeah that dentist guy is a jerk. the rest of 'em - i won't miss.
looks like tuesdays will be almost as much fun as wednesdays, again!
JohnnyREB1977 03-01-2006, 06:59 AM Watched it last night, thought it was pretty good. Of course, I really liked the Family Edition as well *lol*. I was definitely disappointed about who got eliminated.I was kind of hoping it would've been the "Glamazons" or the blind old folks -- just because they walked by that thing a half dozen times. Oh, the "frat boys" definitely have to go; "We work just enough to pay the bills" (paraphrase) and "We want a million dollars, but we don't want to work for it". Work is not a bad word -- lazy bums.
Yeah, it's a shame about the two that got eliminated. They seemed to be a decent sort.
Regarding the Black couple, that guy has waaaaaaaaaaaaay more restraint than I do. I might've ended up a) in the hospital and b) off the show, but I would've torn into those guys leering at her.
Joshypoo 03-01-2006, 07:54 AM Loved last night's episode! The teams are great - the hippies, the nerds and the double d's are hysterical, and the frat boys are hot - but the dentist is a racist, sexist tool - and his wife... just makes me embarassed for my sex. "Yes honey, whatever you say honey, you're the boss!" :puke1:

I'm not a big fan of that team either, Joshypoo. However, I never noticed any racist actions or comments from the guy.
Joshypoo 03-01-2006, 01:27 PM I'm not a big fan of that team either, Joshypoo. However, I never noticed any racist actions or comments from the guy.
He kept saying, "the black girl this, the black girl that, the 2 black people". Yea, they're are black... but their names are Yolanda and Ray. It just made me cringe every time I heard him say it.
JohnnyREB1977 03-01-2006, 01:34 PM He kept saying, "the black girl this, the black girl that, the 2 black people". Yea, they're are black... but their names are Yolanda and Ray. It just made me cringe every time I heard him say it.
Yes, he did keep saying that. It's possible he did so because of some racist/prejudicial reason. It's also possible he continued to use the terminology for many other reasons -- he could be like me and suck at remembering names, for instances *lol*.
Don't want to beat this down, this thread isn't the place for it, but sometimes saying "the black girl" or the "the black people/couple" isn't racist; It's all in the intent. Anyways, can't wait to see next week's episode.
SpaceWrangler 03-01-2006, 01:37 PM He kept saying, "the black girl this, the black girl that, the 2 black people". Yea, they're are black... but their names are Yolanda and Ray. It just made me cringe every time I heard him say it.
I thought the same thing thing at first... we must remember editing though
also thier names are not:
Frosties
Hippies
Nerds
Double D's
Frat Boys
a little double standard maybe
I am so glad that this season has started... every hour episode is going to seem so short now.

Precisely, SpaceWrangler. Looked at the wrong way, "Double D's" could be construed as sexist, instead of denoting the fact that both their names begin with D.
And I totally agree, yet again. The one hour episodes will be like LOST's one hour episodes -- they'll go by waaaaaaaaay too fast.
Joshypoo 03-01-2006, 01:48 PM Yes, he did keep saying that. It's possible he did so because of some racist/prejudicial reason. It's also possible he continued to use the terminology for many other reasons -- he could be like me and suck at remembering names, for instances *lol*.

Yes - well... as a former "northerner" and human resources representative for one of the largest companies in the US, it was offensive and racist to me - it may not seem that way to you. Anyway's, can't wait to see the next week's episode too!!!
miss emme 03-01-2006, 09:45 PM Whats funny about the names is that they give them to each other. And was it the hippies (which they called themselves) that asked the girls if they could call them Double D's and they laughed and said sure. I never think about the names they give each other, I'd actually like to call the Frosties or "Glamazons" as they call themselves "The Shriekers" yeesh! Anyways I felt abit of the cringe factor whenever he used the word. But thats just me. All in all I can't wait till things start getting interesting and we see what everyone's strengths and weaknesses are.
WishIWasInOahu 03-02-2006, 01:47 AM All I can say is this season is going to be AWESOME!!! I think they are trying to redeem themselves for the family edition, and it's working! Hippies, nerds, what more could you want? lol This definitely seems like the most diverse cast so far.
jennylee27 03-02-2006, 08:15 PM I'm loving the two first placed teams right now - "frat boys" and "hippies." I still have to learn all their names! Anyway, they are competitive, smart, and not jerks. My favorite qualities in a team.
lostgurl 03-07-2006, 11:15 PM I can't say that I'm disappointed on who was sent packing this episode. They were annoying IMO. The hippies were entertaining, the frat boys are disgusting, and I can't believe the older couple made it through after all they went through with the car. I also can't believe they picked the rope climbing thing! I still love the nerds.
WishIWasInOahu 03-08-2006, 12:11 AM lostgurl I agree with you about who was eliminated. They annoyed the crap out of me! I'm glad they're gone even though that lady got me feeling a little bad for them at the end.
GO NERDS!!!
atticus finch 03-08-2006, 01:21 AM The frat guys are gross but that is what makes them entertaining. I hope them, the hippies, and the pink girls are the last 3. It makes for good tv.
I want those old people to go home soon. That woman annoys me. She thinks she can do all kinds of stuff, but she can't do any of it. She thought she could put together a bike and didn't get one piece on. She thought she could climb the waterfall but she just flopped around for a while. I want her to go home.
miss emme 03-08-2006, 02:17 AM Ok sore throat :) I sure do alot of cheering and clapping! I have to admit the hippies, BJ & Tyler are growing on me, I loved their comments tonight "punch buggy" anyone remember that? and "who needs reverse, hippie power." funny stuff.
I love it when they're all trying like mad to get to a place that doesn't open till a particular time, I call it the great equalizer and taking the 12:15 bus doesn't necessarily mean you're in last place.
Danielle, Dani, Joseph and Monica are surprising me they are kicking butt. Same as Wanda and Desiree the mother and daughter team, way to go girls!! Eric and Jeremy do not impress me. And l'm still hohum about Lake and Michelle and geez the Glamazon's got eliminated darn :drowsy:
JohnnyREB1977 03-08-2006, 11:53 AM Hey y'all,
I'm sort of ambivalent about who got kicked off. On the one hand, the Glamazons were annoying. That one whiny sister got on my nerves. On the other hand, I really want the frat boys to go hom. They just don't entertain me, they're not interesting to me, and they're jerks. The Black couple, Ray and Yolanda, are doin' pretty good. I hope they keep doin' well.
Joshypoo 03-09-2006, 06:13 PM I wasn't surprised that the pee pee ladies went home - but I did get a little teary eyed when they were eliminated.
I'm just lovin' the nerds - they are great together, wicked smart and fun.
Nerds Rule!
jennylee27 03-09-2006, 08:24 PM Ok sore throat :) I sure do alot of cheering and clapping! I have to admit the hippies, BJ & Tyler are growing on me, I loved their comments tonight "punch buggy" anyone remember that? and "who needs reverse, hippie power." funny stuff.
I do, and I cracked up. I love them!
hellotzp 03-10-2006, 06:25 AM yeah the hippie power was a great moment. really starting to like those guys.
the frat boys are... eh, they are ok. sometimes they're really funny and it's jsut sweet irony that they claim to never want to work, but - they sure do work hard at the race! ultimately i think they will let the double-d's distract 'em and they'll lose.
i can't stand the dentist; he's a jerk, and his wife is a jerk enabler.
i was happy the "glamazons" were eliminated - they were too, too annoying... too much screaming.
ken and barbie will be the stealth competitors.
i begin to forgive the old couple for being feeble and bumbling. because they just seem like such good people.
my fave are ray and yolanda, the nerds, and the mom and daughter. if any of these three teams win, i will be a happy camper
JohnnyREB1977 03-10-2006, 08:46 AM my fave are ray and yolanda, the nerds, and the mom and daughter. if any of these three teams win, i will be a happy camper
hellotzp,
I agree about Ray and Yolanda and the mom and daughter team. The nerds are okay, but I just can't get into them yet.
lambchops972 03-10-2006, 01:41 PM This season is different to me because I actually like most of the teams. The nerds are definately my favorites. The Mr. Wizard reference insured my love forever. The team I would like to see more of is Ray and Yolanda. I like the hippies but I feel like they pander to the camera too much. That will probably change though. Really like Wanda and Desiree. Is the daughter not the cutest thing you've ever seen and with glasses to boot? I actually didn't care for MoJo at first but I became a fan with the "I'm dirty and lovin it" line.
I wouldn't have such problems with the Double D's if they stopped dressing alike. It's really annoying. I'm glad the Glamazons are gone but I really didn't expect to tear up at there departure like I did.
Ok now for the pure hate: Eric and Jeremy
Any one who disrespects my Phil will not get away with it. GET OFF MY TV NOW.
And just because I hate them they will be in the final three.

Did you see the look Phil gave them when they said, I think it was something about 'slapping him' I was like :shock1: I'm not impressed with them either.
GloryQuest 03-12-2006, 05:06 PM Another Amazing Race fan here! ::waves:: It's probably my second favorite show behind Lost.
I didn't hate the Family Edition, though I did hate the Weavers for being so hypocritical much of the time. My problem with the Family Edition was that they hardly got out of the U.S.
Did you see the look Phil gave them when they said, I think it was something about 'slapping him' I noticed that, too. And I wondered if something was said to the guys (off camera) about it, because the next moment one of them was saying "yes, sir" to Phil.
notlost, justexploring 03-13-2006, 12:18 AM I am so depressed! I love the Amazing Race and somehow I've missed every episode so far!
Honbun26 03-13-2006, 10:36 AM Hey Amazing Race Fans :wavey:
I love the SF hippies! They crack me up! I agree Lambchops - Double D is way too annoying with the twin dressing thing.
The couple that is really annoying me is the older couple (what are their names?). They always choose the wrong challenge. What was with the motor scooter choice (I'm good at putting things together) and the waterfall climb?! They have almost lost twice from making the wrong choices.
notlost - your not too late, the race just started 2 weeks ago. There's more than enough time to catch up.
notlost, justexploring 03-13-2006, 02:51 PM Oh, believe me, I'm jumping on board! That is one of the most entertaining shows on tv -- next to Lost of course!
GloryQuest 03-13-2006, 07:06 PM I've not been giving the show my proper attention either. While I have seen bits and pieces of the first two episodes, during each one I've been working on the computer and have been missing quite a bit. Starting this week, I plan to watch it with no distractions.
notlost, justexploring 03-13-2006, 10:19 PM I'm a working Mom, with a brand new 6 month old! She distracts me quite a bit from the big box! I wasn't crazy about the family edition -- especially the families with the little kids -- I felt so bad for the kids when they lost. Especially the family with the little girl -- she sobbed when they were out. Would you go on an Amazing Race?
miss emme 03-13-2006, 11:27 PM Would you go on an Amazing Race?
I would love to go on the Amazing Race but unfortunately l'm Canadian and its only open to American citizens.
lostgurl 03-13-2006, 11:33 PM I think it would be fun, but it does look really hard sometimes, specially those detours because I wouldnt know which one to choose. I know they give a good description of them on tv, but I dont know that the little yellow card gives you that much detail to decide on.
GloryQuest 03-14-2006, 07:56 PM I've wondered about that, too. Judging from the choices some of the teams make, I tend to believe that they don't have a whole lot of detail on what each detour involves.
But for me, I don't think that would be the drawback to being on Amazing Race. The big problem I would have would be communicating in foreign countries. I know only English and maybe a handful of Spanish, and that wouldn't help at all in some of the countries they've been. :ohwell:
lostgurl 03-14-2006, 11:18 PM Oh man, to be continued.. I hate that!
My hippies and nerds are not doing so well but hopefully they will get a chance to redeem themselves in the next episode.
I was so impressed with the hippies when they were the first ones into the cathedral and one of them said to stop a minute and appreciate where they were, that won me over even more. I felt so bad for the mom that was scared of water, why would she even be the one to do that challenge??
miss emme 03-15-2006, 02:15 AM Yeeehaaa wasn't this episode amazing. I love the Hippies! I love the Nerds! So the Double D's and the Frat boys are together, Gee surprised much? Can I just say... WOW Russia how lucky. Big applause for Yolanda and Wanda for getting over their fears. I love it when that happens. And Lake is such a :cnsored2: how many more times is he going to tell his wife to shut-up. That cathedral was beautiful and it was nice that the hippies took the time to stop and enjoy. I feel bad for Fran and Barry they just seem to have bad luck. Its almost painful to watch. Did anyone get the impression that Phil is not impressed with Eric and Jeremy?
notlost, justexploring 03-15-2006, 06:37 AM I want Phil'a job! He gets to travel the world without all the work and he might even have time to sightsee
JohnnyREB1977 03-15-2006, 08:02 AM Good episode last night, although I hate that it's to be continued.
Again, didn't like the frat boys. Really didn't care for Lake last night. But, all in all I thought it was pretty good.

Lake was really getting on my nerves last night. I would have told him things I cant say on this board.
I agree, I dont think that Phil has much love for the frat boys and neither do I. I cant believe them girls are even listening to their garbage, but then again...
Joshypoo 03-15-2006, 03:53 PM Lake was really getting on my nerves last night. I would have told him things I cant say on this board.
I agree, I dont think that Phil has much love for the frat boys and neither do I. I cant believe them girls are even listening to their garbage, but then again...
So true - if looks could kill - Phil's stare at the frat boys when they hit the mat first - no love there!
Why is it when Lake makes a bad decision or a wrong turn it's, "We messed up." No... you did... again! Quit blaming your pityful wife on your mistakes just so you can be a big man. Hate him!
GloryQuest 03-16-2006, 11:21 PM I hate the "to be continued" part, too. Why not make the episode two hours long when they have a long leg like that? ;)
Good episode, though. I think I may start pulling for the Hippies. They're crazy, but a lot of fun to watch and, unlike some, they seem to help out the others.
WishIWasInOahu 03-17-2006, 02:33 PM The hippies are hilarious! And they also seem like they are genuinely nice guys too. I actually also like Monica and Joseph (Mojo). At first I didn't really care for them, but now after seeing them for a while they seem really nice. And I liked that they teamed up with the nerds! hehehe
LOL I think Phil's gonna sabatoge the frat boys' car or something! He really doesn't seem to like them! I don't like them either but I'd rather see them stick around a little longer than LAKE! He is so disrespectful to his wife and I just hope he gets eliminated this week so we don't have to listen to his stupidness anymore. lol
notlost, justexploring 03-18-2006, 04:15 AM It seems like there is always one team that has a guy who is rude to his wife, or vice versa. Do you think they cast that way on purpuse?
Joshypoo 03-18-2006, 07:31 PM It seems like there is always one team that has a guy who is rude to his wife, or vice versa. Do you think they cast that way on purpuse?
I'm sure they have an idea what kind of teams they want right off the bat - and then they pick... one gay team, a senior team, the hot chicks, the hot guys, mother/daughter, the sexist husband (remember Jonathan) and whimpy wife, etc. It's obviously a formula that works, and as long as they don't do a family edition again, they'll win another award.
notlost, justexploring 03-18-2006, 09:03 PM What about that super dysfunctional couple that wound up on Dr. Phil! Geez, what were there names! He pushed her down. Of course she was no sweetheart either.
miss emme 03-18-2006, 09:18 PM What about that super dysfunctional couple that wound up on Dr. Phil! Geez, what were there names! He pushed her down. Of course she was no sweetheart either.
That was the wonderful *she says sarcastically* Jonathan and Victoria. Wasn't he a prize :drowsy: Then they get on Dr. Phil and Deny, deny, deny. It was painful to watch really. Lake isn't as bad, but hes annoying.
notlost, justexploring 03-18-2006, 11:20 PM That's right! Geez, they were the poster couple for therapy! I just love the Race, but I wouldn't want to go on it with my husband because I know we'd have at least one argument where I looked like an idiot.
Honbun26 03-22-2006, 09:23 AM Wanda and Desiree are outta here! I'm kinda glad, 'cause Wanda was getting on my last nerve. Then, when Desiree got to that field where they had to find the gnome, why was she moving in slow motion? Hello? The title of the show is Amazing Race! Let's speed it up a little.
I know some don't like the San Fran hippies, but I just adore BJ and Tyler. No matter what, they seem to have a good time; you never hear any nastiness out of their mouths (at least, not up till now!). Plus, they genuinely seem to worry about other teams and congratulate others when they succeed.
And, then there's Eric and Jeremy. Phil tried to like them when they hit the mat, but then the boys had to say something stupid. Phil looks like he wants to slap them.
Joshypoo 03-22-2006, 09:46 AM It was time for Wanda and Desiree to go - they just weren't up to all the challenges.
Glad the old timers are still in it.
I love the hippies - I was laughing so hard when they were looking for the gnome and breaking the bottles. They are just funny, down to earth, nice guys.
My prediction on Eric and Jeremy is - if they keep thinking with their you know what's, it'll be their downfall - especially if they're helping the Double D's next week - those two are like cows... dumb and slow!
Go Nerds!!!
JohnnyREB1977 03-22-2006, 10:09 AM Last night's episode was pretty good! I'm a bit disappointed that Desiree and her mom are goine, though. The old folks are irritatin' me with their poor choices (or what I believe are poor choices). I'm amazed they've lasted this long.
Really really wish the frat boys would go next week. Them or the old folks.

I totaly agree with you. The hippies are so much fun to watch. They're always having fun and they're never rude to anyone. I liked how they were all concerned for the older couple making it through.
I was worried for the nerds there for a while, they fell into last place, but thankfully that wasn't a real check-in.
The frat boys disgust me, I hope the girls get to go back and watch what they said about them and realize how bad they look that they fell for their crap. Tongue wrestling??.. what are we, 12 years old? I so hope they get eliminated soon.

truly agree, johnny, about the old folks! i can't believe they have made it that far. 1st, they try to put the motor scooter together because she is good at putting things together??? huh? then, they choose to climb that water fall. are you kidding me? i thought their choice last night, the dance, was bad but they got through it quickly. they annoy me for their bad choices, but i like they way they interact with each other.
GloryQuest 03-24-2006, 07:17 PM Really really wish the frat boys would go next week. Them or the old folks. Ditto.
The "frat boys" haven't finished worse than second yet, have they? They may be around a while. :ohwell:
And I wasn't too disappointed with Wanda and Desiree finishing last either. The whining was getting old.
miss emme 03-25-2006, 09:59 PM I found this great website, good stuff to read
http://www.tarflies.com/index.php
jennylee27 03-26-2006, 10:04 PM Ah, yes, that site has a commercial link you can click through to as well. That's where I got my "I  Romber" magnet a couple of seasons back.
lostgurl 03-28-2006, 11:13 PM I was really worried for the nerds there for a while during that puzzle challenge, I felt so bad for her. I'm glad the hippies did good, Phil was snickering at them when they checked in. They're fun. Lake is getting on my last nerve.
Joshypoo 03-28-2006, 11:15 PM Looks like the Double D's have been deflated. Who will the Frat Boys flirt with now... every hot chick across Europe, I suppose?
Did you see how Phil was laughing at the Hippies after they jumped on the matt - they are great. Phil didn't have the same jovial welcome for the Frat Boys though - man he dislikes them almost as much as I do. He did seem concerned for the Nerds when they got teary - which totally tugged at my heart strings. I  Phil!
It's still anyone's game - they're fairly bunched up.
Go Nerds!
Honbun26 03-28-2006, 11:25 PM Another great epi! And, my favorite team - the hippies - are in 1st place again!
On the other hand, I just want to slap the frat boys, they are just soooooo obnoxious! What was it they said when the hit the mat? Something about hottie to the girl; ugh!
I like the nerds, too. But, they really over-thought that statue thing.
I was really hoping that it was Lake and Michelle getting kicked off, tonight. "She's the wife of a doctor. Can you believe she's talking like that!" Uh, just how is she supposed to speak? And, when Michelle says that he can make all the decisions 'cause he never makes a mistake, I'm thinking "Are you watching the same race that I am? Every mistake they have made is because of his pig-headedness.
I agree joshy, I heart Phil. His facial expressions just say it all!
CitrusGrin 03-29-2006, 08:39 AM Down with the frat boys!
They were upset about coming in second!
Phil said something about them not showing any excitement. They dont deserve to win.
If I have to hear Lake say "dad-gummit" one more time.....
Go Hippies!:jester:
addicted2much 03-29-2006, 11:46 AM I saw the end of the epiosode and I think having a yield , that leads to someone's elimination is awful. I mean there will be no repercussions from the yield. It would have been better to have the ladies gunning for the team that yielded them instead of going home.
jessieslost 03-30-2006, 11:10 AM I'm totally with the hippies!! If they don't win, I'll be very upset. I agree that the frat boys get obnoxious, but they're no where near as bad as Lake and Michele. I so hope Lake will go. But, like every season, the team that I absolutely can't stand, somehow ends up in there at the end.
Joshypoo 03-30-2006, 11:22 AM I saw the end of the epiosode and I think having a yield , that leads to someone's elimination is awful. I mean there will be no repercussions from the yield. It would have been better to have the ladies gunning for the team that yielded them instead of going home.
I agree - the yield is lame. Also, they need to come up with some better challenges. The laundry and the bell... not very entertaining.
jennylee27 03-30-2006, 01:15 PM I find the frat boys annoying with their lechery, but they are quite competitive players. Yes, they were upset that they came in 2nd. That's the killer instinct often required to win this game. I appreciate the fact that they and the hippies have alternated winning all the legs so far. They'll be there together at the end of the game.
hellotzp 04-01-2006, 01:10 AM huh. i guess i'm the only one that kinda likes the frat boys. and i am sooooo not their type!
i'm actually like the nerds - i can see myself having the very same meltdown over the extra statue pieces. and everyone knows that nerds and frat boys don't mix, haha. but the frat boys are... serious competitiors. they put up a big front, the "playboy slacker beachbums that only think of the babes," but winning really matters to them. i mean- they sure didn't hesitate when the double-d's had to turn back for their wallets in germany - they kept right on. and they are smart. but i don't think they'll win in the long run.
i'm starting to think the hippies might just take it. they have a great attitude (although sometimes they are so theatrical that they seem fake) and are lots of fun to watch.
i started out liking wanda and desiree but wanda really was too much of a whiner. and the old couple are good people, but - ooooh, are they annoying. lake and michelle are unlikeable, but interestingly enough, they are not hateful.
and with that in mind i gotta say, this race is turning out to be one of the best, just because i can watch the RACE, and not have to put up with a lot of hateful personalities.
also, most of the challenges have been pretty good - i liked the laundry search, if only for the marvellous visual as they walked into that alley. searching for the gnome was overwhelmingly commercial: i get annoyed when it's all about the sponsor and the show starts to feel like an infomercial, but in the end it was pretty dramatic and i had to forgive 'em for it. i am sure i'm like all of you: i imagine myself doing each of the challenges. i'm not so sure i'd be up to it. but i sure would like to try...
oh and now, the show will be on right before LOST on wednesdays!
which makes tuesdays kinda boring, too bad.
jennylee27 04-02-2006, 10:48 PM huh. i guess i'm the only one that kinda likes the frat boys. and i am sooooo not their type!
Not true! See my post right above yours. If they weren't so lecherous, they'd be fantastic to watch. I always appreciate a team that kicks butt.
lostgurl 04-05-2006, 02:50 PM Don't forget - Amazing Race comes on tonight before Lost. 8pm eastern.
Petragrrl 04-05-2006, 03:09 PM Oh... thanks. I would've checked after Lost... duh.
:)
Cheers,
P.
anniehall_75 04-05-2006, 03:16 PM as much as i love the race..they managed to pick the one time I'm watching something else (ANTM)...oh well...life sucks without tivo...
Joshypoo 04-05-2006, 04:27 PM Don't forget - Amazing Race comes on tonight before Lost. 8pm eastern.
Thanks for the reminder - oh well, I'll have to tape Bones now, but that's ok - I'm glad it's on at 8:00 instead of 10:00.
Ferrel 04-05-2006, 04:41 PM And if you're in Canada, The Amazing Race is on AFTER Lost. Lucky us. We get Lost at 7pm tonight.
Joshypoo 04-05-2006, 11:32 PM OMG - I guess Nerds do not rule. Why couldn't it have been the Lake and Yes Dear Whatever You Say Dear Team. Plus, it was time for a non-elimination round anyway - what the hell, man?
The hippies were a riot in Italy during the fish run. Pizza Pie here, Bellisima, Gratzi. They are my new team to beat now that the Nerds are gone. :crybaby:
WishIWasInOahu 04-05-2006, 11:55 PM OMG my nerds are gone. I can't even believe it! I had myself convinced that it would be a non-elimination round.
Nerds Rule!!!
lostgurl 04-06-2006, 01:17 AM Noooooooo, not the nerds!! :crybaby: :sadwalk:
miss emme 04-06-2006, 01:28 AM NO,NO,NO l'm going to miss my nerds  Its getting very painful to watch Fran & Barry. The hippies are hilarious, luv the hippies. Lake is soooooooo irritating :pissed: The Frat boys are sorta growing on me...sort of...
rabgal 04-06-2006, 01:30 AM Sad about the nerds too ....
hellotzp 04-06-2006, 03:42 AM yeah, bummer about the nerds.
the hippies were so, very funny with their "official sign up list." sometimes they lay on the merry prankster schtick too thick but they are just so funny at times i gotta love 'em.
i am glad the frat boys laughed about it, shows they have a good sense of humor.
i am beginnig to fear this race isn't a very well matched competition, though - it's turning into a race between the hippies and the frats and the tension is gone.
or well, ken and barbie are still the stealth couple but not enough to make it a close race.
ray and yolanda are so likeable. i think she's the bees knees and i love how they teamwork. but he's gotta smile more - he looks so fierce! i think he kinda scares people. i think yolanda thinks so, too 'cuz she's made comments about it.
the oldsters - at least they chose the small fish, maybe they are learning their strengths from their limits. they still can't seem to find their own butts half the time.
and... what was with those outfits on lake and wifey? him all bare-chested with the tiny black bra-like money pouch, and her.. with the... the damn thing strapped over her shirt like she was a wetnurse in a harness. gaaaaah, my eyes! my eyes!
JohnnyREB1977 04-06-2006, 08:04 AM hellotzp,
You pretty much just summed up my thoughts on last night. I was ticked about the nerds leaving, loved Yolanda and Ray (he does need to smile more). And whaddaya know? The elderly couple made a decent decision. Floored me *lol*.
jessieslost 04-06-2006, 09:28 AM I love the hippies this season, and I'm glad they're doing so well.
My husband emailed this to me. I still don't know what to make of the pics, but whatever...

miss emme 04-06-2006, 11:23 AM Hmmm makes you wonder doesn't it.
notlost, justexploring 04-06-2006, 04:12 PM I am excited because I finally remembered to watch the Amazing Race!
Baileysdad 04-08-2006, 05:54 PM I love the hippies this season, and I'm glad they're doing so well.

Heroic Poser 04-11-2006, 09:52 PM I was sad about the Nerds too.
I had my hopes up for them. I didn't like the hippies at first, but hey, at least their having fun.
How the old couple stays in this is BEYOND me. And is it just me, or does the Southern guy just seem like a racist? He just seems to have a problem with anybody not like him.
JohnnyREB1977 04-11-2006, 10:16 PM Heroic,
Maybe it's because I'm a Southerner myself and am a bit sensitive about the "racist" label put on us (Southern man with Southern accent automatically equals "racist" it seems)...but, I just don't see it. Yeah, Lake's a HUGE jerk. And yeah, he doesn't seem to get along with everybody. He's extremely competitive, treats his wife poorly and thinks he knows everything...I've got a cousin and an uncle just like him. But, really a jerky attitude from a competitive person doesn't necessarily mean racist. It just means he's a jerk.
Heroic Poser 04-11-2006, 10:19 PM True. True. I've just noticed when he says "We gotta stay ahead of the black couple!" and things like that, it just makes me wonder.
But yes, I agree. His wife should pop him in the nose a couple of times but I know women like that and she'll just gladly except him as himself.
GO HIPPIES!
JohnnyREB1977 04-11-2006, 10:28 PM He said that? Yeah, that does sound suspect. I would LOVE to see her smack him upside the head one good time *lol*.
Joshypoo 04-12-2006, 02:59 PM Happy Wednesday Y'all! Looking forward to tongiht's episode - just wondering if viewership (specifically Losties) has increased since the day/time switch... before Lost?
notlost, justexploring 04-12-2006, 04:25 PM I was so bummed last night because I forgot the Amazing Race moved. I was all set to watch it. :(
lostgurl 04-12-2006, 05:20 PM reminder - AR is on tonight before Lost, 8pm Eastern.
Joshypoo 04-12-2006, 09:17 PM I can't believe it... Lake and Michelle are toast!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
I'm so glad she told him to shut the hell up - he's an ***.
Seriously though, did anyone else think that was the lamest Fast Foward ever?
Breaking the plates - wow, that was really tough. The Frat Boys really needed that.
The Hippies Kermit hat was a hoot.
Go Hippies!
JohnnyREB1977 04-12-2006, 10:51 PM Joshypoo,
Yeah the plate thing was underwhelming. But, I love tonight's episode. Question: Do you have to say "I'll do it" before seeing what the detour is? The wife in the old couple needs to just wait a second if not *lol*.
miss emme 04-13-2006, 12:08 AM Wow someone is playing with the colors on the site today. Anyhoo can l just say........YEEEEHAAAAAAA Lake and Michelle are gone!!!!!!!!! Did you hear that a$$h**e call her a b***h. I almost choked on my drink. I've never been so happy to see two people go besides Jonathon and Victoria. Not going to miss them at all. I thought the hippies were done for there, scared me. Loved the kermit hat funny. Now its Lost.
addicted2much 04-13-2006, 08:38 AM Wow! Down to just 5 teams .
I knew I had missed a few episodes , but I didn't think I had missed that many. I guess the frat guys are gonna win. Has there been a time when a male/male team that lasted this long didn't win ,unless they Lost to another male/male team?
Joshypoo 04-13-2006, 09:00 AM Joshypoo,
Yeah the plate thing was underwhelming. But, I love tonight's episode. Question: Do you have to say "I'll do it" before seeing what the detour is? The wife in the old couple needs to just wait a second if not *lol*.
Yes, I believe they have to choose who's going to complete the task first - then they find out what the task is. As I recall, the Fran said she'd do the detour, then opened something up and it said BUNGEE and she freaked. I was really proud of her jumping - and Mo (of MoJo) was so nice when she gave her a hug and told her she could do it. Mo scored big points with me!
notlost, justexploring 04-13-2006, 02:05 PM I was so happy that the best buddies survived!
lostgurl 04-14-2006, 01:40 AM wow, the hippies were seconds away from going home. I'm SO glad that Lake is out, i seriously cannot stand that guy, I can't believe he called his wife a b*tch, along with all the other stuff he says to her. :cursing:
Next week looks pretty tough.
WishIWasInOahu 04-14-2006, 12:39 PM /\ amen!
I couldn't believe how close the hippies were to going home! Or at least they made it look that way... lol but anyways I am SOOOOO GLAD that Lake is gone. He treats his wife like absolute crap and she just lets him do it.
I'm still really sad that my nerds are gone though... :frown:
But GO HIPPIES!!!
bearsgonefishin 04-14-2006, 02:36 PM yep Lake's been on my nerves from the beginning, I love how everything htat went right was because he was so great and everything that went wrong was her fault. Bye Bye!
jennylee27 04-17-2006, 11:14 AM Wow, I was certainly in fear that BJ and Tyler were out of it after going the wrong way for an hour and having to double back. Lake and Michelle must have gotten REALLY lost to let them make up those 2 hours and beat them. Ah, but that game will be so much more pleasant without them. I'm really happy about the 5 teams that are left. I'd be ok with any of them winning (especially since Fran and Barry have no chance! ;) )
Heroic Poser 04-19-2006, 12:06 AM I have to admit, I'm glad "Zeke" and his wife are gone.
Did he call her a b**** in the car? What a turd.
The hippies have changed me. I didn't like them at the beginging, but now, I'm really rooting for them.
They're having fun. That's what it's about.
Joshypoo 04-19-2006, 09:14 PM So happy this was a non elimination round - my Hippies are still in it!
How cool was the old couple being in 1st and winning a trip to Rome. They rock!
Looks like some trouble for Ray and Yolanda. Hey, my boyfriend would probably get on my last good nerve too if I had to spend every waking moment with him!
Go Hippies!
lostgurl 04-19-2006, 10:15 PM Whoa, I thought for sure the hippies were gone and I was so bummed out.. I was shocked when Phil said that it wasn't over for them yet. The frat boys finally made some mistakes and I wonder how it will effect their game now? I felt bad for BJ when he was trying to dig up those mounds. Fran and Berry did great. I'm glad the hippes are still in it!
notlost, justexploring 04-20-2006, 01:53 AM I really hope that the frat boys struggle again. I want the Hippies to win or the old folks! Go underdogs!
wanders01 04-20-2006, 07:17 AM I for one loved the Frats! But even I have to admit that I was very happy for the Old Couple coming in FIRST. And for the record, I think we saw some of the true personaity of the Hippies tonght. The meltdown cometh:clap:
JohnnyREB1977 04-20-2006, 08:30 AM Hey y'all,
I can't believe the old folks actually came in first! About fell out of my chair when I saw them. As for the others, I kept screaming at the tv "Stay lost!" whenever I saw the frat boys. Hate it that the hippies were last; really glad it's a non-elimination round.
Danni 04-20-2006, 09:25 AM :hesaid: BJ & Tyler - their tshirts: TTOW --what does that mean?
please & thanx.
Joshypoo 04-20-2006, 10:04 AM :hesaid: BJ & Tyler - their tshirts: TTOW --what does that mean?
please & thanx.
I have no idea - but I did a search and TTOW could mean "Turn TV Off Week", also a very strange dudes web page popped up on myspace.
jennylee27 04-20-2006, 10:08 PM Their shirts are great. Don't know what that one means, but did others notice the Bowling Moms ones? A great team from way at the beginning of the show.
I too was so happy for Fran and Barry and glad the hippies survived. Yes, BJ did have a meltdown in the desert - literally. I'm been to Israel in May, and it can near 100 degrees. In Oman, further south and maybe later into the summer, it could have been 110 or more. 1 1/2 in that heat, no water, I forgive him for being exhausted. At least they still had energy to do their little dances on the mat!
miss emme 04-21-2006, 01:41 AM Awesome episode I was in tears twice. When Fran & Barry came in first l stood up and clapped and cheered. When the hippies came in last l was holding my breath. I wondered when there was going to be a non-elimination round there hasn't been one yet. I'm glad the frat boys didn't come in first, its nice to see someone else take that place. On B.J.'s and Tylers Myspace they both have the letters "TTOW" by their pictures. I posted on the Amazing Race Group site asking if anyone knew what they meant. When l find out l will let you know.
Danni 04-21-2006, 09:46 AM that's great -- thanks. it's just one of those things that drive you crazy until you know. yeah, LOVED the Bowling Moms shirts. and it was nice to see Fran & Barry win a trip and jump to the top of the heap.
BJ looked so upset in the car on the ride to the pit stop, like he knew he lost it for them, and then the little happy dance. that's what I like about those guys, they have such spirit, and they respect everyone - saying thank you in the language of the country they're in, and stuff like that. not like others, who seem to have no respect at all.
some people get a lot out of life, and some people complain their way through it.
jennylee27 04-21-2006, 09:48 AM saying thank you in the language of the country they're in, and stuff like that. not like others, who seem to have no respect at all.
That's a good point - my husband and I always comment on that. I also saw the stark contrast between them, who learned a bit of the language, to others who don't know what language they speak in Oman or what a mosque is.
notlost, justexploring 04-21-2006, 10:21 AM That's a good point - my husband and I always comment on that. I also saw the stark contrast between them, who learned a bit of the language, to others who don't know what language they speak in Oman or what a mosque is.
I agree with Danni too. It's what makes the hippies so lovable.
gabymac 04-21-2006, 10:36 AM hey everyone - loved the bowling moms shirt - noticed it right away - i always say to my husband how cool it is that the hippies know every language - joshypoo, love your quote of the day - hysterical - don't remember that one
hellotzp 04-22-2006, 01:20 AM oman? oh man! it sounds like it was a great episode, and i missed it!
(apologies for the awful pun.)
cool, that a different team finally finished first. i cannot believe it was the old folks! goes to show that luck makes a big difference. good teamwork is even more important, and they do have that. on that thought -
so sad to hear ray is acting like a jerk! yolanda is awesome. he should treat her better. maybe she should think about losing the "relationship" and keeping the "long distance" - permanently.
mo-jo snipe at each other a lot, too - she really is a whiner, and he has a snide side. but they hang in there. they are a pretty strong team but not my faves.
seems like this show was a really interesting shake-up of the status quo - frat boys and hippies coming in the last 2 places! i like the frats simply for being competitive. it reall makes sense that they don't want to "work" but they'll play as hard as anything!
and i am glad the hippies weren't eliminated. :-)
so - they were wearing shirts that said "bowling moms"?? hahaha - aw, wow!
that's awesome. they've got me, i want 'em to win now. i wonder what TTOW is all about? they've said it's a made-up word but it looks like an acronym. i like that they always try to find the fun in any situation. too bad this last time sounds like it wasn't much fun for 'em.
(but from the way it sounds, that might make for better tv.)
Joshypoo 04-27-2006, 10:06 AM I was in tears when Fran and Barry were eliminated last night. She kept saying, I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry and then I was crying. They are such a cute couple and nice people. They did really well though.
Anyone else pissed off at MoJo besides me. What was up with them? They were totally ragging on the Hippies. Even Ray and Yolanda made a comment that MoJo are "frontin" and shouldn't be trusted.
BJ and Tyler were hilarious when they picked up the bedoins to give them a ride. "I'm a Bedouin... I'm from New Jersey."
Frat boys actually looked kinda hot in the speedos - but they're still jerks!
Go Hippies - die Mojo!
hellotzp 04-27-2006, 06:12 PM ha! i agree, joshyypoo's girl ~
ok so fran and barry always annoyed me. too much whining and bumbling. but ya know what? i got teary-eyed when they were eliminated! i really do like the way they treat one another and i think it is very cool they finished in the top 5. glad they came in first that one time - at least it was someone NOT the frat boys.
though, i like the frat boys, for what they are. and yeah - they look good in their bikinis! they probably wouldn't give a nerdy girl like me the time of day, but i was all like... wow - beefcake!
ok so - i love yolanda. she is just the coolest chick, with great sensibilities and a good sense of humor. ray is very lucky to be racing with her. i am glad he is treating her better!
mojo... aka ken and barbie... very pretty on the outside. pretty ugly on the inside, they are my new faves to be eliminated.
what can i say - i want the hippies to win. they are one of the funnest teams in the history of the show, even when they are over-doing the kooky act. they always do unexpected things. like pick up bedouins!
ETA: corrected spelling
lostgurl 04-27-2006, 06:28 PM It was sad to see Fran and Berry leave, they were so awesome in this game. Yolanda's comments on their biking were funny.
I was laughing so hard when everyone thought the hippies wouldnt make the flight, and then they come strolling onto the plane. HA!
I used to like MoJo a lot, but they really seemed like jerks last night. Everyone was dissing on the hippies and I don't get it, they're one of the friendliest teams on that show. I think Phil was rooting for the hippies, he seems to like them and he had a big grin on his face when they checked in.
jennylee27 04-27-2006, 09:38 PM Ditto to what everyone else said. What is UP with MoJo? I need them to go away, like, soon.
notlost, justexploring 04-28-2006, 01:07 AM I was particularly sad that Fran and Barry got the boot because it meant that MOJO was sticking around . . .Well, I guess my vote is for the hippies to win.
lambchops972 04-28-2006, 04:12 PM I agree with most here about MoJo. I really liked them early on but the more that I see of them the less I like. I'm still disliking the Frats but they really haven't bugged me the last few episodes. I have wanted to get on the Ray/Yolanda train but I can't. The don't seem to be enjoying anything about this race except for possibly getting the money. There not having any fun. Teams like that I just can't get behind.
I was really surprised at how upset I got when Fran and Barry were eliminated. I haven't liked them much at all except here and there and I was practically bawling when they said there goodbyes.
Although it took awhile I want the hippies to completely take it. There having fun and I think a lot of the camera mugging has stopped. I really get the sense that whether or not they win this they loved the ride.
I know that the Family Edition sucked and all but does anyone else miss the Linz cheer in the beginning? I keep expecting to hear it.
miss emme 04-30-2006, 01:17 AM I finally watched Wednesdays epi and waaaah that Fran & Barry got eliminated. They got on my nerves sometimes for all the mistakes they made but in the long run they were a sweet couple and worked together well. All the while Fran was saying 'I won't cry, I won't cry' I was thinking 'don't worry l'm doing it for you' I always get emotional when it comes down to the final few. From what I understood the reason why mojo where raggin on the hippies was because, I don't know if they were told by someone else or the hippies said to them that, they would give them a yield. Ray and Yolanda seemed to be getting along better and I laughed at her comment she made about Fran & Barry on the bikes. Its down to nail biting time now Yikes!
notlost, justexploring 04-30-2006, 07:22 PM I loved that Fran and Barry were fairly competent on the bikes. I think that everyone expected them to be unathletic just because they are older.
lostgurl 05-05-2006, 08:57 AM I can't believe the hippies were saved from elimination again! I was sure this time they would be sent home, but I'm happy it turned out the way it did.. boy was MoJo ticked!
I missed the first part of it though. I'm glad Ray and Yolanda won the cars for a year.
notlost, justexploring 05-05-2006, 09:00 AM those hippies are like the energizer bunny!
Joshypoo 05-05-2006, 10:42 AM I'm glad the Hippies are still in it - but what was BJ thinking when they were running to the finish line and he jumps across the water? Seriously, he needs to put down the bong once in a while.
jennylee27 05-05-2006, 11:51 AM The hippies lost a little of their magic for me this episode. The editing did make them seem much more grating than they have been. But maybe that is really how it is going - as they get closer to the end, people are more snippy and cut-throat. And this is from me, who still ranks Rob and Amber in my top 2 favorite teams ever (behind Kris and Jon).
I think Ray and Yolanda might win it all. They are the only ones still being depicted in a positive light. They are a lot like Joyce and Uchenna to me, come from behind, solid, loving team, staying of out of other people's ways.
notlost, justexploring 05-05-2006, 01:39 PM I'm still a little mad at Ray for being mean to Yoland before. I'm glad to see them getting along again. Monica is such a whiner! Using a yield is not cheating! It is part of the game. What a baby! But Joseph was really mean to her!
GloryQuest 05-06-2006, 12:17 PM I'm glad the Hippies are still in it - but what was BJ thinking when they were running to the finish line and he jumps across the water? Exactly! Apparently he was taking a shortcut when there wasn't a need; Monica was still behind him. Then after they were saved from elimination, it showed that he wasn't even wearing shoes!
Weird thing is that some people didn't even notice how they finished last. I was talking with a coworker and she didn't even see what he attempted.
That said, I still like B.J. and Tyler or Ray and Yolanda to win it.
And if anyone could be considered cheating, I would think that would be Frat Boys (cancelling the taxis). I mean if AR allows them to do that, what's to stop any team from slicing tires or otherwise disabling vehicles of their opponents?
hellotzp 05-06-2006, 08:09 PM they saved the non-elimination rounds for pretty late in the show. i am glad yolanda and ray came in first. i really, really like her - she has such a great attitude. the way she was cracking up when playing the digeredoo made me start laughing, too. ray is not my fave, i still think he's a bit of a jerk, but he was much better to yolanda this episode. i do like him waaay better than either joseph or monica.
monica whines incessantly. acts like a spoiled brat. and was totally flirting with the frat boy! and joseph is a mean, bullying fella. they aren't as bad as some of the past race contestants, but they're pretty bad. i really want them eliminated.
i loved that eric and jeremy got karmic payback for cancelling the taxis! i am not sure i consider that cheating, but it was pretty rotten. i appreciate that they felt like it came back against them. shows that they knew it was kinda the wrong thing to do. though i do like these guys, it was really nice to see them NOT come in first place - it's starting to get boring.
i am glad the hippies are still in it. though they really are not as happy-go-lucky good guys as they project, they are still one of the funnest teams ever to watch, and one of the luckiest. i was crowing with delight over the looks on mojo's faces - they were so pissed!
interesting there's not been an eating challenge yet. maybe rob and amber killed off that contest when he figured out how to get out of it. oh well, no big loss, it never was one of my favorites of the challenge.
i really likedrob and amber, too - he might be obnoxious, but he doesn't pretend like he's anything other than what he is and doesn't blame others for his own mistakes. and he is pretty sharp at strategy, pretty shrewd. and he and amber were actually really good to one another - respectful and loving.
but my favorite two teams still gotta be chip & kim and kris & jon! oh wait - make that 3 - oswald & danny from AR2 are the whole reason i started watching the show. they were, in their own words, "absolutely fabulous."
lostgurl 05-11-2006, 09:02 PM So glad the hippies came out on top after being last. I couldn't have eaten those bugs, ugh. Monica was so whiney carrying those pots, I'm happy they're gone. Also loved seeing Ray and Yolanda win the extra prize.
hellotzp 05-12-2006, 05:09 AM i missed the episode (was at a giants ballgame hoping to see barry bonds make that home run... didn't happen, oh well). but i read the race synopsis at the abc site and it sounds like it was a good show. ken and barbie are gone - YAAAAAY!
there's no way i coulda eaten that bowl of bugs. funny, i mentioned there'd been no eating challange in this race, yet. i think switching it to a fast forward was a great idea, keeps it fresh and doesn't set up a repeat of strategies we've already seen.
though really, it's never been one of my favorite challenge themes. it just seems a little too "fear factor." and i can't stand fear factor! even though i do like michelle rodriguez and tonight on leno she claimed she likes that show.(kinda figures, eh?)
anyway - the final race is gonna be exciting! down to 3 good teams - i'll be glad if any one of 'em wins. the hippies are my faves but - yep i say it everytime - i actually like the frat boys and... i love yolanda! i am glad she and ray won a prize, again.
i am just bummed because the final race hour seems to be scheduled against next week's lost episode. sigh...
yeah yeah, i know - tivo. a friend has it, but can't tivo something while watching something else (i just don't understand that, at all, it seems... so wrong). of course, said friend will be watching and tivoing the lost episode. anyway blah blah - you get the picture:
lost wins!
notlost, justexploring 05-12-2006, 12:13 PM I'm excited for the finale because I'd be pretty happy with whoever wins -- although, I would laugh so hard at how mad the frat boys would be if the hippies won!
Joshypoo 05-12-2006, 12:35 PM This was a really tough one for me to watch - at least while the hippies were eating the bugs! I had to walk out of the room... I have serious bug phobia. Anyway, glad they got through it and fast-forwarded to the pit stop. I'm thrilled that Ray and Yolanda won the gold gnome prize - they rock!
MoJo needed to go this week - I couldn't stand the whining another second!
I'm actually happy to see these three teams in the end - yea, even the Frat Boys.
Go Hippies!!!
lostgurl 05-12-2006, 02:21 PM I wish the nerds would have made it this far, it would have been great to see them in the top 3 against the hippies and either ray/yolanda or the frat boys.
hellotzp 05-18-2006, 05:47 AM yay hippies!
i'm SO ANNOYED the final hour of hte race was up against lost, and i couldn't watch it. but that first hour was great - so glad i got to see the japan leg of the race. my group of friends that get togehter to watch lost FINALLY understand why i like the amazing race so much - we all watched up until 9, when lost started. they were laughing hysterically when the teams where paddling the swan boats.
oh and, the frats... haha. gosh. i love this:
""Those hippies and their damn language-knowing." -- Eric has a Homer Simpson-esque attack of jealousy over Tyler's fluency in Japanese." - STEVE TILLEY - Toronto Sun
ah yes!! language-knowing! how nefarious. that's a great example why i actually liked the frat boys - really entertaining.
i am glad ray and yolanda made it to the end, too - but more glad the HIPPIES WON!
Joshypoo 05-18-2006, 07:54 AM Yea Hippies!!!! :jump: :jump:
I'm so happy they won! My friend who watches AR faithfully called me when they crossed the finish line screaming - she didn't have to say anything - I knew who won!
I had to laugh at the Frat Boys in Japan mouthing the Kung Fu - and the comment when the Japanese woman came out of the tent thing... "This seems like a sexual fantasy come true" (something like that).
lostgurl 05-18-2006, 08:58 AM Yay hippies!!
I'm so glad they pulled it off. I watched it up until Lost came on.. I wish it wasn't on opposite of Lost. I loved the roller coaster part, that was fun. I died when that airlines(?) guy told the frat boys that there wasn't any internet there.. haha.
I caught a little of the flag challenge and the hippies had a couple wrong right at the beginning and the frat boys had them correct so I was sweating there but that's when I had to change channels. I need TiVo!
notlost, justexploring 05-18-2006, 09:44 AM Go hippies go! I am glad that they won. I must admit I felt kind of bad for the other teams. It is sad to work so hard and then lose. :(
jennylee27 05-19-2006, 02:09 PM Ugh, I have tivo and I still missed the finale. I was out of town and my old VCR failed to pick up the Amazing Race and Survivor finales (which was opposite West Wing). Darn it! I was so happy to hear that the hippies won. They really had a great story to tell through the whole thing. Any good highlights I should know about before it gets iared in syndication a year from now?
dixieprincess18 05-19-2006, 03:40 PM I would have been happy if any of the final three teams won, but I'm glad it was the hippies. They seemed to know what they were doing most of the time and had the best attitude. It helped that they knew practically every language. Can't wait till next season.
jennylee27 08-17-2006, 07:53 PM CBS has announced the teams for the Amazing Race 10. Check them out!
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/
It debuts September 17th with a 90-minute episode. It will then air Sunday nights at 8pm Eastern.
Early favorites? How about picking a team to win it all before even meeting them? (Some of us did this last season with Survivor and it was fun). I'll take... Vipul and Arti. Extensive travel experience and multiple languages sounds like a good bet to me!
Petragrrl 08-17-2006, 08:52 PM Cool... thanks, jennylee :)
Hmmm... I'll go with Peter and Sarah - they sound really driven... (Iron Man - hello!) I sincerely hope they're driven in a good way and they don't turn out to be one of the "b!tchy couples..."
sunshinekitty1 08-17-2006, 11:55 PM I'm going for Erwin and Godwin. They're smart and overachievers.
lostgurl 08-18-2006, 12:03 AM I love Amazing Race! I'll take Kellie and Jamie.
StickMang 08-18-2006, 10:11 PM I have a television arrangement with Mrs. Mang, we trade show viewings, so I watched this with her in exchange for something else that she could watch with me. I had little interest in Amazing Race, and I was not engrossed while watching it. However, with these "reality" shows, what pulls me in, if anything, are strong and enjoyable personalities. For the season that I watched, this was Boston Rob and Amber. I enjoyed Boston Rob's manipulations and machinations, and the "game of houses" that he plays so well, not to mention his on-air personality and accent/"Bawstin-speak".
However, Amazing Race lost 2 viewers when the producers seemingly manipulated the flight plan to allow the eventual winners to get on the same plan as Rob and Amber when they clearly and demonstrably found there way on there earlier, and were taxing away with enough clearance to have taken off in 99.7% of any flight situation. They actually called the plane back, and PLEASE do't tell me that the Producers didn't directly and inappropriately manipulate that to allow for added drama.
Before I read too many posts telling me how naive that I am, I agree that producers have a hand in every reality show, but let me suggest that their intercedence is likely much more subtle than what occured at that airport. That was overt, heavy-handed, direct and consequential manipulation for the sake of ratings, at the cost of what little integrity of serendipity and skill of the game.
In my opinion, their direct manipulation changed the final results, taking the win away from Rob & Amber, the team who played that section the best, perhaps in order to reward a seemingly more popular and more deserving team (since Rob & Amber already won Survivor). After this, I was forever lost to future viewings of this show. Mrs. Mang was just as shocked and chagrined by this turn of events, and will no longer watch it again either.
With all due apologies to its fans, I have one word for Amazing Race...Done.

jennylee27 08-19-2006, 02:55 PM I agree with everything you said, and I adore Rob and Amber (I even watched their wedding on tv!). But I still love TAR, and I will continue watching it for more great personalities and more sights of places in the world I will never go.

Now I am filled with sorrow and have no words.
Petragrrl 08-20-2006, 09:51 PM You call that disappointing?! Try sitting through "The Amazing Race - Family Edition"
I would've been vastly disappointed had Romber won. They only got that far with lotsa dirty tricks and I wasn't bothered at all that fate/the producers/whoever pulled one last dirty trick on them...
Personally I'm watching for the locales... the scenery and all that. I have had moments shouting "I've been there!" or "OMG - that's around the corner where I used to live!" to "That's so beautiful - I want to go there next!"
StickMang 08-21-2006, 02:09 AM Now I am filled with sorrow and have no words.
Be not sad notlost, we all have our opinions and mine is a bit jaded concerning the show. While it is most likely not the majority opinion, it remains quite valid.
I would've been vastly disappointed had Romber won. They only got that far with lotsa dirty tricks...
Maybe I'm mistaken Petra, but I thought that clever trickery and gamesmanship was part of the game. Perhaps I misunderstood what or whom the players were supposed to use to obtain their goal; I just didn't think that it included deus ex machina by the producers.
and I wasn't bothered at all that fate/the producers/whoever pulled one last dirty trick on them...
I compare it to being part of some contest and having the rules change on you just when you are about to win the prize; had that happeded to any of us, I bet there might be more complaints...

It is for sure part of the show, and I love it, but Romber remains the most controversial team ever to play this game. If you visit any of the discussion boards that focus on reality TV, you can find endless angry threads debating the worth of this team. Many love them, many hate them, very few people are anywhere in the middle about them. For me, this is one reason why they make good television, because they elicit strong reactions from viewers.
Petragrrl 08-21-2006, 01:05 PM I compare it to being part of some contest and having the rules change on you just when you are about to win the prize; had that happeded to any of us, I bet there might be more complaints...
True... I agree with you that manipulating the outcome of a fair contest is despicable.
BUT: In my opinion Romber did a little more than show clever gamemanship. While I can't say they broke the show's rules, they surely bent and twisted them right up to the limit. They did not "play" a game, they cold-bloodedly sneaked and snarked their way through a conquest. They showed neither honor nor integrity. I didn't find that enjoyable on "Survivor" and I surely didn't find it enjoyable on "The Amazing Race."
The saying goes: You reap what you sow... and while it would have bothered me immensely with any other contestant to the point that I would've boycotted the show, I was glad their opportunistic behavior wasn't rewarded in the end... whether through coincidence or producerial intervention.
May you enjoy the scenery then, and may you enjoy your show
That will depend greatly on the contestants... :)
Thank you for your insight. I enjoy reading your opinions... in this thread as well as in others.
notlost, justexploring 08-27-2006, 07:37 PM I would have to say that one of things that really bugs me about the Amazing Race is that people complain when teams don't help them or hide information from them. They whine and say, "They aren't being fair." Hello? It is a race. Why would they want to make sure you catch an earlier flight? Geez, get a clue? Didn't they watch the show?
miss emme 08-29-2006, 01:41 AM Hello everybody season premiere Amazing Race 10 Sunday September 17th 8:30 pm heres the site to meet the couples http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/
This time around theres 12 couples.
wanders01 09-11-2006, 09:56 AM I can't wait this next weekend is a new amazing race and I'm over-ready. Treasure Hunt was ok but it sure wasn't the race.
lostgurl 09-17-2006, 04:34 PM yay, AR starts tonight! ...can't wait.
wanders01 09-18-2006, 07:01 AM Woohoo The games have begun! Wow I heard Phil say there were some new twists but didn't see the quickie elimination coming. It's a shame really I think the eliminated teams could have brought some entertainment:biggrin: If they keep up with the grueling pace I could be a fun season. I loved the fish eyes.........you can bet that was a new dish for most if not all...........I was proud that none of the people whined like some in the past.
addicted2much 09-18-2006, 10:02 AM I hate that interesting teams were eliminated so soon. I get tired of the frat boys and cute girls , that seem to dominate screen time and finish in the top.

I agree. I was sad to see those 2 teams go. I'm rooting for Godwin/Erwin, I like them! I didn't like that team that are dating that bickered the whole time. They reminded me of Jonathan & Victoria.
addicted2much 09-18-2006, 01:27 PM They always have to put in couples that fight and demean each other.
Ratings news from Media Week.
In season-premiere news, a 90-minute installment of the 10th edition of CBS' The Amazing Race debuted with a 7.2/11 in the overnights and an approximate 10.11 million viewers and a 3.9/ 9 among adults 18-49.
wanders01 09-25-2006, 07:42 AM Last night was tooooo funny. As soon as I heard "Russian military jeeps" I told hubby well we know there will be car problems...vehicles left anywhere have a tendency to not be reliable. I luved to whole Mongol nomad camp...but it made me wonder how some people survive in this world. What a tough existence. I almost laugh so hard I was crying when that one oxen kept running away for for no reason I could see.:rotflmao2: :rotflmao2:
Petragrrl 09-25-2006, 11:11 AM I can't believe I missed last night's episode... I guess I got confused with CBS's "Race/Case/Trace" line-up... which I had somehow memorized as "Case/Race/Trace" so... yeah. :)
There is an excellent synopsis on CBS's "Race" website... is it just me or is the show's editing such that Peter is portrayed as trying to squeeze every inch out of Sarah's disability to their advantage...? And they're not even together-together, right?

I saw it the same way last night, Petra. I'm hopin' it's just the show and that he's not that much of a weasel.
miss emme 09-26-2006, 01:42 AM I couldn't believe how he was running up and down the steps with his hands out asking for money after she did her little dance. I was like "hey jerk" Not liking that guy much.

They must have thought these Mongolian people were entertainment starved and had disposable money. Neither of which seemed to be true. Another great promo for the "ugly Americans" Thanx a bunch :frown:
Danni 10-02-2006, 09:14 AM funniest line: it's just like frogger, dude. :24:

lostgurl 10-02-2006, 03:39 PM I'm liking Erwin and Godwin a lot, I'm glad they finished first last night. I thought for sure Tom and Terry wouldn't make it through their 30 minute penalty, but they did... close one!
JohnnyREB1977 10-02-2006, 03:43 PM lostgurl,
I was like you about TnT. I hated it when they got that penalty, was sure they were gone. I'm glad they made it.

So sad a reprieve for T & T only to be down the tube........Bummer. I thought they were going to beat the "Barbies" but they didn't. Can someone tell me why Sarah ever agreed to bring Peter with her. Seems to me he's the one with the problem. He is everthing repulsive...tell her to throw the "disability card to expecting people too throw money like she was a trained monkey. he just not my kind of person.

I was hoping the barbie's would be going home last night. When the show first started I thought Peter sounded like a great guy, now I'm seeing different. It's funny how people can fool you. Has he even done ANYTHING yet? He's always making her do everything, I want to slap him.
JohnnyREB1977 10-09-2006, 11:24 AM Could've sworn I posted here last night...
Eh, Peter is gettin' on my nerves. Too bad he's part of one of the four teams I wouldn't mind seein' winnin' (but only because I think Sarah's cool). That other fella...what's-his-name that said somethin' about "I'm tired of foreigners"...Hello? You're the foreigner in that country!
And I am so irritated by the fact that TnT are gone. That dude pulled the dang boat. That should count for somethin'!
miss emme 10-09-2006, 12:50 PM Aargghh that Peter guy IS. GETTING. ON. MY. NERVES :wallbash: whenever he came on the screen my hands would curl up into strangle mode. He's such a jerk. "play the disability card Sarah" Say what?? I'm glad that Sarah is starting to see him for who he is. I'm really liking David and Mary she definately wears the pants in the family. Tyler and James are great they're not like the frat boys last season. I love Lynn and Karlyn. I wonder how much longer Kimberly is going to put up with Robs temper tantrums. It was emotional when T & T lost they really gave it they're all. I was so shocked that no one knew how to row a boat. :eek2:
wanders01 10-09-2006, 02:43 PM That did seem a little strange no one had boat rowing experience although I have and I got the feeling those dongh ( or whatever) did not row as EASY AS I'M USED TO.
Carencey 10-09-2006, 10:18 PM In my experience, there are few things better to cause an argument between two people than putting them in a boat and telling them to row. :)

Sounds like the voice of experience speaking. I had just the opposite experience.........we had a great time on our first outin a twelve mile canoe trip after a couple of dunkings had alot of laughter:biggrin:
Let's hope their rowing is done with.
lambchops972 10-14-2006, 10:57 AM I think this was one of the best episodes ever. Words cannot describe how I feel about Peter. HATE is surely not strong enough. I think the man has serious issues. I think he treats Sarah like a showpony instead of a girlfriend. Rob needs to cool down and realize that he is the idiot foreigner. I laughed so hard when everyone was trying to row but I also know that if it had been me they would have had to come rescue me. My favorite team right now is David and Mary although she should have taken his advice on the boat and sat down to rest her ankle. I think her injury may doom them. But I love how great she is with people in other countries. She's really enjoying herself and that's the type of racer I always root for.
P.S. I read on TWOP that apparently Phil said there was only one team that annoyed him. Any guesses?
If this has been discussed ignore me.
miss emme 10-14-2006, 12:51 PM P.S. I read on TWOP that apparently Phil said there was only one team that annoyed him. Any guesses?
Jonathan & Victoria :24: sorry I just had too. I can see two teams. Peter and Sarah, but Sarah isn't being annoying its that ugly guy she's with. Or Rob and Kimberly but again its more Rob than Kim.
freckles_shephard 10-15-2006, 05:51 AM I cant wait for a new Amazing Race to start airing here. I'm not watching the family edition that's currently showing here. Boring.
and yes Jonathan and Victoria were thee most annoying couple ever. (I havent seen anything past the family edition so dont know the others)
Carencey 10-16-2006, 10:31 AM I like the new twist for the non-elimination legs. The spectacle of contestants begging in poor countries had gotten to be a bit too much for me, even when they went straight to the touristy areas. Plus, it seemed like it was an easier penalty for Caucasian and all-female teams to overcome.
There was one thing I missed, and my DVR hiccuped midway through and decided to quit recording the show live so I couldn't back it up--how did the two teams on what should have been the last flight get ahead? Did they find an earlier flight or was the Delhi flight delayed?
lambchops972 10-16-2006, 11:20 AM I actually didn't think it was possible to hate Peter anymore than I already did but yep it's possible. When he was making fun of Kentucky and Alabama I just wanted to strangle the monster thru the tv. And to be honest now I almost dislike Sarah and the BQ's as much because it is obvious they thought everything he was saying was hilarious. HATE.
Calming down now.
I've been a little iffy on the Lyns but when they were hoping that it was a nonelim to save Dave and Mary it became all good.
I loved the new penalty and even better no mugging. Nothing worse than seeing us beg in foreign poor countries.
Rob didn't bother me this ep but Kimberly did. I think she was channeling Kendra.
I just knew that cell phone trick would backfire.
I really like India. The legs there always seem to bring the race up a notch.
This episode about gave me a coronary when Dave and Mary didn't get on the plane. I know that it's a good possibility they will be eliminated next week but maybe this will push them to get ahead.
I was hoping a band would snap and a croc would go after Peter.
I know. I'm seeking therapy. ;)
JohnnyREB1977 10-16-2006, 04:38 PM lambchop,
I felt exactly the same way about Peter last night. Before it was just passionate dislike. Now, I truly hate him. And that little laugh by Sarah and the BQ's was irritatin' as well. Also, can't believe no one's mentioned their (the Beauty Queens') "sistah's" comment in relation to The 'Bama team in light of some of the comments last season about the Southern team (I think they were from Tennessee?) sayin' Black all the time. That "sistah's" comment was over the line.
Really really hope Dave and Mary make it to first place next week. Don't want to see them gone.
wanders01 10-23-2006, 07:54 AM lambchop,

Johnny I'd say you either got your wish or you're psychic. Say bye bye Peter!! Did it seem like Dave & Mary weren't even thrilled about winning the trip after the game? It sorta seemed like they weren't sure what Phil was talking about.
lostgurl 10-23-2006, 08:43 AM I think they were happy, but worried that the brothers would be out of the game because they helped them. The brothers impress me.
miss emme 10-23-2006, 09:44 AM Am I glad to see that guy go. It was painful to watch Peter. Does anyone remember if he did any of the solo challenges. It seems to me Sara had to do them all. I feel bad for Sara but not for Peter. And I'm so happy that Mary & Dave are still in.
I wasn't impressed with the Beauty Queen's comments last night about the Bama team. It was so funny when they were running away with the guy that could interpret the puzzle.
Petragrrl 10-23-2006, 10:58 AM Well... there goes my pick for the game's winners, lol. I'm not sad to see them go, actually. I feel bad for Sara because she deserved so much better... but I think she realizes that now. No feelings whatsoever for Peter.
It looks like any one of those teams could win the game, really. To me, there is no real front runner or strongest team anymore.
lambchops972 10-23-2006, 11:45 AM Wow wishes really do come true. I'm not getting any xmas presents this year but that's ok Peter's gone.;)
So happy that Dave and Mary are safe. Karma loves the brothers. Yeah!
I agree with lostgurl. I think they were happy about being first and the trip but they were worried for the brothers.
And who couldn't love those camels.
Carencey 10-23-2006, 12:00 PM I think Sarah did all of the climbing challenges, didn't she? I suppose Peter thought he was saving himself for the challenges at the end of the game, since each partner can only do so many. He must have done a roadblock at some point but I swear I can't remember when.
JohnnyREB1977 10-23-2006, 07:01 PM Missed it last night. I am so happy Peter's gone. Wish Sarah could've stayed, though.

emme,
what'd they say last night? What happened?
Okay, here's my picks:
The Alabama team
The Kentucky team
The Cho brothers.
The models are a "blah" team for me. If they win, blah...if they don't blah.
But, please God...don't let the Beauty Queens win! (I've finally found a team I don't like this season *L*).
lambchops972 10-29-2006, 07:20 AM I agree. Don't let the Beauty Queens win. I know I should be rooting for an all female team and all but when they laughed at Peters joking toward the Bamas and Kentucky they became Dead To Me.
wanders01 10-30-2006, 07:30 AM Whoa it looks like Kentucky is gonna need some help. They won't be able to do a fast-forward even if there is one. I hope they don't get the ax. They seem to be far more deserving then the Barbies or Kens.
JohnnyREB1977 10-30-2006, 08:33 AM I agree wanders. Kentucky needs to win. Either them, Bama or the Chos.
lostgurl 10-30-2006, 08:40 AM My two favorite teams are the Cho (sp) brothers and Kentucky. I was amazed that they didnt do an elimination last night - again.
I thought that the whole airline ticket scene was crazy. I would have been furious if I was the Bama team too.
Next week looks interesting:
Looks like the blondies have to team up with Bama?
Danni 11-01-2006, 03:32 PM I was hysterical when they were all reading their clues when they were leaving: how many teams? 6
how many different pronunciations of Mauritius? 6
everyone had their own spin on it
and I can laugh
because I can't even spell it :24:
miss emme 11-06-2006, 01:32 AM Wow I've shed a few tears tonight. First with this show and then Desperate Housewives. It was sooo sad when David & Mary got eliminated :crybaby: Was it just me or did it sound like Phil was choking up? I couldn't help but think while the BQ's and the Cho's were traveling together in the taxi "you can stop talking any time now" wow can they talk, talk, talk, talk. They annoy me but they are playing the game pretty good.
Question~ Has a womans team ever made it this far?
wanders01 11-06-2006, 07:58 AM :sadwave: :sob: A sad good-by to Dave and Mary...............I was really hoping that either the KENS. the BARBIES or the KEN and BARBIE would get eliminated. Well you go Chos.......we're rooting for you.
JohnnyREB1977 11-06-2006, 10:46 AM Once I realized the BQ's had first place I turned it off. I couldn't watch it anymore knowin' that David and Mary were most likely gone. Next on my list to win is the 'Bama team and then the Chos.
Watership Down 11-06-2006, 11:09 AM It was difficult for me to watch last nights episode for two reasons: I knew Dave and Mary wouldn't make it this time and the cow lip feast was unbelievably gross. Apparently everything on a cow is edible.
Danni 11-06-2006, 11:26 AM :shesaid: I had to mute the tv during the fast forward - for me it's not too entertaining watching people eat gross stuff and then :puke:
It was sad to see Dave & Mary go, but I'm glad they hung around as long as they did, and got to see some exotic places. It was so great at the end when she said she had to show her kids the world. Even tho' they didn't win, the experience for them was a positive one, and had enormous impact on them.
Watership Down 11-06-2006, 02:19 PM Yeah, I loved Mary's farewell speech. She actually got me a little choaked up.
Danni 11-06-2006, 04:02 PM Question~ Has a womans team ever made it this far?
I don't think so - I thought they mentioned it a week or two ago.
lostgurl 11-06-2006, 04:02 PM Ugh, I hated this episode. The BQ's are really on my last nerve. I hated seeing David and Mary leave. :frown:
The food fast forward.. I just had to change the channel, I couldnt even look at the stuff, and when they showed the teeth in there  .. well I was this close to losing my dinner.
I'm pulling for the Cho Brothers now. I bet David and Mary will get a lot of other goodies because they were popular.

After watching the lips with teeth and all I guess I question whether "every thing is"
Yuck
wanders01 11-09-2006, 02:56 PM Woot did anyone catch the announcement that "kentucky was getting a new house, vacations for three years ans other stuff compliments of the View. Couldn't happen to a nicer more deserving couple. Congrats Dave and Mary.
lostgurl 11-09-2006, 06:18 PM Woot did anyone catch the announcement that "kentucky was getting a new house, vacations for three years ans other stuff compliments of the View. Couldn't happen to a nicer more deserving couple. Congrats Dave and Mary.
Yay! I'm happy to hear that. I thought that might happen, they deserve it!
miss emme 11-09-2006, 10:24 PM Oh that is soo nice. That warms my heart. Of all the contestants they were the ones that left a lasting impression on me.
Watership Down 11-13-2006, 10:33 AM I really miss those two - I kept thinking about them last night during the mine challenge in Finland. :frown:
BTW...I read on the TV Guide site that David and Mary gave their Jamaica trip (that they won on the show) to David's father because he took care of their kids while they were gone.
wanders01 11-14-2006, 07:00 AM Well, not too much to debate since they continued the leg this week. I was so happy for 'bama cause they got to see the kids. And Cho brothers......... I amm more and more impressed every week with their sense of fairplay and decorum. They make their Mom proud I bet:biggrin:
wanders01 11-20-2006, 08:48 AM I guess I'm the only one still interested in the race. i'm soooooo bummed at last night show but I guess it shows "nice guys finish last" and I'm really sorry for that. I wished playing "fair" would have proved more. They should have just played the game and not worried about helping others.......but that sure is a depressing thing, that to win it seems you have to be cutthroat.:frown:
miss emme 11-20-2006, 09:43 AM Nope I'm here some weeks I lurk instead of post. Very sad about the Cho brothers, victims of their own kindness, such nice guys. I'm afraid for the Bama ladies though they need to step it up or they're next. I gotta tell ya the Barbies are fearless I don't think there's been one detour or road block that they haven't tackled head on. They don't whine, complain or fight. They just say stupid things that grind on my nerves. Rob and Kimberly, well Rob....hmmm he's annoying sometimes I'd like to just reach through the tv and :smash:
jennylee27 11-20-2006, 11:20 AM I'm still watching too. I felt sad for the Cho brothers, but they really were victims of their own gameplay. Their niceness kind of verged on the absurd. I mean, even Bama didn't expect them to wait. And speaking of Bama.... Man, are they one rude team! Notice how every time Phil sees Dustin and Candace he mentions that an all-female team has never won TAR - and yet, he has never said that to Lyn and Karlyn. Why? Because they will never win. Not nearly competitive enough.
Count me as a member of the Beauty Queen fandom. I want them to win.
hopelesslylost 11-27-2006, 04:48 PM I'm still watching too. I felt sad for the Cho brothers, but they really were victims of their own gameplay. Their niceness kind of verged on the absurd. I just was really ticked that last night was a non-elimination race! The Beauty Queens rub me the wrong way and I don't know why. They are playing just like Rob and Amber did a few years ago and I was pulling for Rob and Amber.
And Bama was going to Road Block the Beauty Queens so I don't know why they got so upset! I really don't care who wins this year!
Watership Down 11-27-2006, 05:22 PM I gotta admit I'm not much of a fan of the Barbies either, their over confidence kinda gets on my nerves, but they really are a good team. They work well together and they seem to be able to tackle any challenge with little hesitation or difficulty.
And speaking of difficulties, Dustin and Candice have the worst luck with cars. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with them next week. Judging from the previews it looks like they're in for their biggest meltdown yet.
lostgurl 11-27-2006, 06:37 PM I dont really care who wins now either. I would have loved for the barbies to get the boot last night, but I think someone wanted to give them a break. I can't say I really like any of the teams that are left. I barely watch it anymore now, I only turn to it when Fox has commercials.
jennylee27 11-27-2006, 09:45 PM I would have loved for the barbies to get the boot last night, but I think someone wanted to give them a break.
Well, the non-elimination legs are planned from the beginning, before they know which teams will still be left, 1) to avoid lawsuits, and 2) because the logistics have to be planned far enough in advance in order to work.
I still want Dustin and Kandice to win. I don't think winning a race should ever be based on likability - it is about competitiveness, will, ability, and cool-headedness. They have it all. They will be the first all-female team to win.
lambchops972 11-29-2006, 10:09 AM I'm to the point that I don't care who wins. My least favorite teams have made it toward the end. I should be rooting for the BQ's but just like hopelesslylost they rub me the wrong way. I first started disliking them when they laughed at Peter making fun of Kentucky.
I can't help it. I hold grudges.
hopelesslylost 12-04-2006, 02:44 PM Would it be mean of me to do a "Happy Dance" because the Blondes are out?
Sorry!
miss emme 12-05-2006, 02:02 AM I can't believe I forgot to watch the show. So the blondes are out eh? Well I won't shed a tear because of it. But they did play the game well. They lost it last weeks episode though.
wanders01 12-05-2006, 07:13 AM I wasn't fond of the blondes but all kidding aside they played well. I noticed that everyone blasted them for being ruthless but found it quite acceptable to be that way themselves. Lets face it everyone wanted them gone because they played well.
waltisfuture 12-05-2006, 11:33 AM The younger Bama girl is off her rocker. Her partner has the patience of a saint.
I love how Phil said they were the first all female team to make it that far. He had said that to the blondes a few times, but never to Bama. I guess Phil thought they didn't have a chance of making it that far.
hopelesslylost 12-05-2006, 02:45 PM Bama played so well the week before, staying calm and studying maps, I was dissappointed in them a little this week. Well just the one (I don't know their names) that was making the "hurry up" comments when the other one was eating. But I suppose it's very stressful to be in that race.
I know for sure my husband and I could never do it! I said o him once "We should go on the Amazing Race" and right after I said it we both burst out laughing!
In regards to the Barbies, I can't think of one logical reason to explain why I'm glad they're out!
Danni 12-05-2006, 02:55 PM could be the 'don't hate me cause I'm beautiful' thing
they are beauty queens
so they've already won stuff
they're blonde, smart, energetic, yada yada yada
why do they need a million dollars on top of it all?
hopelesslylost 12-05-2006, 04:51 PM See, that's just it, I was trying not to go there. The jealousy(sp?) thing. Disliking someone because of their looks or deciding how much money someone should have. It's not logical.
WOW! Do I sound like Mr. Spock or what?
I guess I'm having a dilemma!
jennylee27 12-05-2006, 09:06 PM I am very sad that Dustin and Kandice are out. I rarely feel this emotional over a losing team. I really liked them, and thought they had it in the bag. They only really made ONE mistake, missing the turn into the olive place, and that cost them the game. There was really no point in this week's episode where they could have made up the half hour. Sadness for me.
Danni 12-06-2006, 09:56 AM See, that's just it, I was trying not to go there. The jealousy(sp?) thing. Disliking someone because of their looks or deciding how much money someone should have. It's not logical.

sorry - didn't mean to thrust you (or appear to thrust you) into that mindset
I just think that most of us want what is fair
when things are not fair we get frustrated
the BQ's definitely have had and will have more priveleges than say Dave & Mary
some people have a harder time of it
and we likely want to see 'deserving' people get the prize
it's like when former winners are on Survivor - someone's already got a million dollar prize - are we going to be entertained by seeing them win it again, or someone else who could really use it
wanders01 12-06-2006, 11:52 AM sorry - didn't mean to thrust you (or appear to thrust you) into that mindset

Ohhhh Danni I just read your post and it reminded me what I just read
According to TV Guide they are going to have the next race for former crowd pleasing or hating teams like Jonathon and Vixctoria, the Hippies and Joyce and Uchenna were some they mentioned
I just can't wait!!
Danni 12-06-2006, 12:24 PM Wow, wanders - I can't believe J&V are still together.
Some people obviously don't have respect very high on their list of priorities.
I didn't mean that to sound judgemental, but I guess it is.
And familiar faces are good for ratings no doubt.
wanders01 12-06-2006, 01:45 PM Ohhh Danni I can't state for sure they are together but for a million I'm sure they can be. Besides it was just one of the TV Guide reporters statement that he was sure they were packing their bags immediately.
jennylee27 12-06-2006, 06:48 PM They are still together, and they just had a baby. I don't think they will actually be in the race. TV Guide was speculating. I think you can get better dirt here (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/cbs-confirms-the-amazing-race-all-stars-will-be-next-race-edition-4430.php).
As for whether or not I am entertained by someone who has money winning TAR or Survivor? I'm actually ok with it. I want to see the best competitors (nice or not, in need of money or not) win.
hopelesslylost 12-06-2006, 09:23 PM :shesaid:
Exactly! The blondes were entertaining, don't get me wrong, I just didn't want them to win. But when Rob and Amber were on a few seasons ago I wanted them to win.
There isn't a lot of difference with the way Rob and Amber and the blondes played, is there?
My dilemma continues!
lambchops972 12-08-2006, 03:36 PM Would it be mean of me to do a "Happy Dance" because the Blondes are out?
Sorry!
No I'm dancing right along side of you.
jennylee27 12-09-2006, 06:10 PM There isn't a lot of difference with the way Rob and Amber and the blondes played, is there?
My dilemma continues!
I think "Romber" was a lot more devious. They stole the cab of that season's blonde girl pair. They also conspired to throw the meat eating challenge... and I think they even stole money from competitors (pooled money from a few teams to bribe a bus driver, but then skimmed off the top). Many fans and competitors hated them for driving by when the surfer boys' car flipped, but there was nothing that they could have done for them.
BTW, they are still my all time favorite reality TV team, and I can't wait to see them up against other hardcore pairs like Colin and Christie (now married, btw).
miss emme 12-10-2006, 10:58 PM I loved the way Rob and Amber played the game. Ole Rob boy is one smart cookie. Especially when he convinced some of the other teams to throw the meat eating challenge. I wonder how they are doing? Do they have a website?
wanders01 12-11-2006, 07:45 AM Well I guess this is it til Feb. I wonder when they are going to announce the All-Star teams?
miss emme 12-11-2006, 09:52 AM Sigh yes. I can't wait. Apparently Rob & Amber are going to be in it and the Hippies.
Petragrrl 12-11-2006, 11:50 AM Romber... again?! No way!! Aren't they waaaaaaay past their 15 minutes of fame?!
But because I'm such a sucker (as pointed out by someone earlier in this thread  ) I'll be watchin'...
And as for last night: totally anticlimatic. I was expecting a super-difficult maze-type brain-pretzeling puzzle in the end, or something to make it a tad harder than just having the ability to catch an earlier flight than somebody else
Danni 12-11-2006, 11:52 AM Yeah, I found it ho-hum.
I was just glad that Rob & Kimberly didn't win.
I hated them yelling at each other all the time.
Have a little respect.
and can you say anger management class?
wanders01 12-11-2006, 01:03 PM Didn't Rob and Kimberly say that their wedding was dependant on winning the million? Well they should take the hint and run far, far away from each other. They don't seem like the best two people to be married.
hopelesslylost 12-11-2006, 02:44 PM I was hardly on the edge of my seat for the last episode that's for sure! And if I heard one more "Dude" I was going to turn it off! I wanted Bama to win just because they didn't say "Dude" every other word!
Do the second and third place teams win money?
I'm excited for the All-Stars!
miss emme 12-11-2006, 11:57 PM I found the end of the show kinda boring myself. Usually I'm on the edge of my seat yelling at the tv, cheering and crying. But all I did was sigh and say "well it's over" I think the all-stars is going to be fun.
lambchops972 12-12-2006, 10:57 AM I agree with those who said this episode was pretty boring. I was pretty shocked that there wasn't a last puzzle or something to do. When there are a couple of teams working on something at the same time next to each other it really raises the excitement.
Oh well that's ok. I'm already excited for the next one.
wanders01 12-14-2006, 07:30 AM Anyone get any rumors about who the "all-stars" will be yet?
