I'm just watching former "friends" funny man Joey, in his show Joey if you can call it a show, i think it is soooooo bad, its not funny, full of bad acting, and i think its even embarrassing, He was much funnier in his old role, even tho he's playing the same character, who do you blame the writing or the acting, i think this, what could of been a good show, is a big let down, thoughts
i'll put in a poll, JOEY SHOW: Hit , or Miss,

For me Joey is a miss, its just not funny. I think it was over hyped and he was a good character in Friends but not my favorite(phoebe) i think all the Friends cast have struggled (with the exception of Jennifer Aniston) and that has a lot to do with the fact that they are coming off such a massive hit. I think it happens everyone who leaves a big show. Have you seen Lisa Kudrow in "The Comeback"? it was just trying too hard to shoot it mock-documentary style like "The Office". I don't think Joey will last much longer its only saving grace is Drea de Matteo from the Sopranos

Miss for me - it's just not funny. I find most sit-coms boring and loaded with old bad jokes and old bad actors. The best shows were Seinfeld, Cheers and Friends. The funniest stuff out there now is The Office and Arrested Development!

It's horrible - unfunny and boring; I'd rather clean the cat's litter box than watch this show. I can't believe it hasn't been canceled yet.

I really can't believe it's not canceled yet. I started watching, but not for long. He was funnier on Friends, really. Its definitely a miss for me. I can't believe they kept that show on and canceled Miami. I liked that show. All 3 eppys they showed.

I love Joey ,(The character) but I feel so bad that the show isn't so good. They need the Friends writers and he needs to move back to New York!!! Just my opinon though

'Joey' is a waste of a good character and a great comic actor! I hope that this show either gets cancelled and doesn't ruin the 'Friends' great name or they get some writers that actually know how to make the viewers laugh instead of roll their eyes, groan and change the channel..... My personal opinion anyway!!

I read an article about Joey this weekend. I don't remember where but it said , Joey was a mediocre sitcom that had incredibly high expectations and the reason it wasn't cancelled was because of the deal that was put in place at the beginning of the show. If NBC had cancelled it, they would have had to pay huge fees to Warner Bros. and the show's star Matt LeBlanc. Matt was making$700,000 per episode.

Joey still has 8 unaired episodes which will probably air over the summer and the show won't be on the NBC fall schedule.

I never watched an episode.

Joey was at best.....OK.
I LOVED Friends, but it really was an ensemble show. Any of the characters, not just Joey, wouldn't have survived any longer as a spin off show.
Friends is done.....let them die in peace. :rip:

Maybe I'm the only one who sees it this way, but I think they were trying to copy the success of Frasier. On "Cheers", Frasier was a background character. On his own show, they took him out of the City, away from his friends and all that was familiar and made a show around it. And it was a REALLY successful and very funny show.

I think they figured that Joey would be a good candidate to do the same. Out of the 6 friends, Joey (for me anyway) seemed to fade into the background. He never had the Ross and Rachel "Will they or won't they" storyline or the "Chandler and Monica get together" storyline or the "Crazy" Phoebe fitting in storyline. He was always the poor actor struggling to make it. He was also the only one one they that could come by themselves...Monica and Chandler were together, Ross and Rachel together, even Phoebe was married.

They tried to copy and it didn't work. He just wasn't a strong enough character to pull off his own show.

I've tried watching Season 1 of Friends and then watch Joey. It seems to me that he used to be a fully fleshed out character, but by now he's become a caricature of himself.

Wow, that is some serious hate! I think I'd rather watch an entire season of Joey than clean the litter box. At least Drea is funny!

On his own show, they took him out of the City, away from his friends and all that was familiar and made a show around it. And it was a REALLY successful and very funny show.Kitten.
BUT they also surrounded Frasier with a cast of very talented actors. In fact, Niles was supposed to be a one-episode character. He was supposed to appear in the first episode when they are fighting over who has to take care of Dad and then that was that.

Well, after they saw how outrageously funny Niles was and how the two of them played off each other so well, they kept him on the show. I don't think there's a single Frasier fan that would be satisfied with an entire season of Frasier with no Niles. I think that was such a smart move - being flexible enough to change the entire direction of the show based on one member of the supporting cast. When it works, it works.

That's the key --- if you are basing a spinoff on one character, especially one that was just a fringe member of an ensemble cast to begin with, their supporting cast has to be superb. Frasier wasn't that funny on Cheers (by himself) but it was the situations with the other characters that made his self-imposed social isolation so funny.

Drea was so good in the first episode of Joey that I had hope for the show. I laughed out loud when Joey was hugging her and recoiled with a strange look on his face and she flashes him her boob job and says, "You like? Their NEW!!!" That interaction between them was priceless and probably the only laugh-out-loud moment of the entire series. :frown:

Alas, Drea could not carry the whole dang series on her own and the rest of the misfit, mis-cast bunch were just a disaster waiting to happen.

With a few exceptions, I have just never liked movies/tv shows about the making of movies/tv shows. I never like Joey from the beginning. But the episode where he was told by Lucy Lui that if he couldn't get his girlfriend who played his daughter on his acting gig to come out of her dressing room made me vow to NEVER watch this show EVER again. And I can say I have NEVER watched it again.

Hi there,

I tried to watch Joey because I am a great fan of Friends, but when I say I tried I really tried to watch, tried to laugh, but I didn't manage. Not funny, not even a smile. The writers struggled to use the same mechanism as Friends with introducing some new characters but it didn't make it. I guess It's not even cancelled yet. The only good point on this show was the sexy (maybe too much) Drea de Matteo. She's def hot, brother !
The only fuuny character in it was her manager, Billy if I remember well, which was the "Phoebe's part" of Joey...
I miss Friends...

"Joey" is not that bad!
"Friends" was undeniably a great show but let's admit it...it couldn't last forever!

I heard that Joey has been cancelled. Has anyone else heard this? I don't know if it's true or not. Not like it really matters because I'm not going to miss it. I just wanted to know.

It hasn't been officially cancelled (from what I've read), but even the actors are talking as if it's over.

It's a miss. It's almost painful to watch. When Joey doesn't have the other Friends to interact with, he's just not funny.
