Who else here likes Sex and the City?

My absolute all-time favorite show... the "Hubble" episode is TEH BEST!!

Who's your favorite character? I think Samantha's hilarious. She's just so blunt with speaking her mind no matter who's around.

I loved them all for different reasons... but I think I liked Miranda best for her dry humor and her strong sense of self, even though she made the most lousy choices in men... I've actually had friends dating in various cities that ran into similar freaky guys that she encountered... which gave her more authenticity :)

I absolutely loved her when she let her guards down and was at her most vulnerable... like when she found out that she truly loved Steve, or when she took care of Steve's mom.

I love(d) that show! When it ended I made very real looking sympathy cards and sent them to my friends who also loved the show. On the outside: "With Deepest Sympathy". On the inside, the four girls and a message that life goes on, time to put on your best Manolo Blahniks and walk with your head held tall, etc...

Loved the finale when Big came to rescue Carrie - he was so romantic (finally!).

Do you guys watch the re-runs at all (on TBS or WB, I think). Favorite characters of the 4 girls is Carrie, and I always imagine myself closest to her character. (not sure if others would, but I/Carrie don't care :biggrin: ). But you've got to love the dynamics of the four together - they each bring something to the table. My favorite character of all the others is probably Aidan :wub:. He was just so great for Carrie I thought.

Your best friend is Samantha? She must be a blast. I just saw the episode where Samantha's wearing a different color wig (cancer) in every scene- funniest one was the 'fro :afro:

I think my favorites are Easy Come, Easy Go and The Post-It Always Sticks Twice. The season 3 finale is a hilarious one as well where Samantha has this war with the trannies outside of her new apartment building. :laugh:

I think it's absolutely hilarious when the girls are at their usual restaurant, Samantha announces her problem, Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie all look at each other, Charlotte leaves the restaurant and then Miranda says "And she's never coming back!"

Even though I liked Carrie with Aidan, I liked her better with Big, and I'm glad that she ended up with him. I could see why she was fascinated by Alexandr, but they were clearly a world apart.

I also thought it was a nice touch that they showed Aidan happy with his baby, and that he had moved on.

Yeah. That part that I mentioned earlier just gets me. I don't know how many times I've seen that part, but it always makes me :roflmao:. I also think it's hilarious in Hot Child in the City when Charlotte and Trey go to a counselor for their problem and he suggests they name their parts to appear non-threatening, then later Charlotte is talking about this sexual fantasy to him. I also like the part where Wade blames Carrie for bringing pot to the apartment and she gets back at him by taking it with her.

This is by far one of my favorite shows now. *I am making up for all those years my mom wouldn't let me watch it* I tape it every midnight on Fox and watch the reruns on TBS.

The Post It...classic episode and the ending is great...hahahahaha...good times

The show on TBS is horrible compared to the real HBO version.

True but it is better than the ones shown on Fox. Fox cuts out alot...where as TBS keeps pretty much everything except the graphic sex scenes. It still does not compare to the actual episodes.

I think there isn't much of a point to airing the series on regular networks as so many things need to be edited out and some of those things are essential to the storyline.

I thought that Aidan was a lot better than Big.

To me, the most suprised one would be Alanis Morissette !!

Alanis was a big "Huh?" moment for me... in a good way :)

I liked Nathan Lane, David Duchovny and Sarah Michelle Gellar (she plays a good b!tch). I wasn't so big on Matthew McConnaughey (sp?) or Jon Bon Jovi.

I liked seeing SMG on the show just to hear her swearing a bit. :) It was also kinda funny to see Ron Rifkin on the show playing such a different character to Sloane on Alias.

Hmmmm... I don't think i recall Ron Rifkin on the show... perhaps because I never really followed Alias - hence no recognition factor. What role did he play, and which ep(s) was he in?

This was such a great show! I watched the first season and couldn't really get in to it, but I kept with it and ended up loving it. My favorite of the girls is Miranda. Her character's evolution over the course of the show is, IMHO, the most dramatic. My favorite episode is the one where Big comes out to Aiden's country house because he's just been dumped by Willow Summer (sorry, don't remember the title of the episode). The men fighting in the mud is classic. "Stop it! You're middle-aged!!!" I laughed so hard...

I'm currently watching the show on syndicated, and I'm not recognizing half of it! It's not the dubbing of naughty words that's bothering me (because they're pretty generous, actually), it's that they butcher and cut all the juicy scenes, with the result that some episodes get too short to be stand-alone, so they just take the next episode, butcher that one in half as well and voila!! You get a neat and trimmed Sex and the City "light"... and one very confused viewer!

Yes, I hate the way they butcher the show in syndication. I went out and bought all the dvd sets so I wouldn't have to deal with that. I have friends who are just starting to watch the show and it makes me sad because they think they're actually seeing Sex and the City. I tell them if they want to see the real thing, they're gonna have to rent the dvds. The syndicated versions are alright if you've seen the show before, but I hate for first time viewers to see it that way.

Yep! I don't remember what happens in the ep, but he tries something on, I think it was a bathing suit? I just remember something about him with his pants down. :lol:

I just saw an episode (or was it two or three... :29: ) on syndicated, and it had Lucy Liu in it. She was playing herself, and Samantha was about to become her rep until she blew it over a purse.

I totally forgot she was a guest star... she was alright, I guess...

I know, eh? The show was aired on HBO for many good reasons.

My fave episode is still the "Hubble" one, but I've recently seen one that comes close... it's the one in which Miranda has her baby and Big leaves NY... I think it's called "I <3 NY" - lots of emotions in this one, plus fabulous wardrobe worn by Carrie :wub:

The Post-It Always Sticks Twice. She totally rips into that friend of Berger's and the other friends who were with him.

yea, it's weird that those cable networks picked it up. they have to cut so much out. but i guess it is the type of show that has such a big audience, that if they are channel surfing they will stop on it even if it is all cut up for regular cable.

Of course the show has a huge audience. I think that while it is annoying for networks to have to edit out so much of the show, in a way it sort of works in HBO's favor. If people want to watch the "real" version of the show, they'll either watch it on HBO or rent/buy the DVDs.

It could be. It's not just TBS that plays butchered versions, either.

ha...well i think my girlfriend only knows about TBS....so those are the only butchered ones im forced to watch. but i'll admit....they really arent so bad on HBO, but all butchered, pretty tough to watch.

Some of the funny moments are the ones that are edited out and if you're watching it for the first time, those jokes don't make much sense when they refer to it later. Also, because of the editing, there'll be episodes without a particular character's storyline included.

Oh, I was wondering about the syndicated epi's how they fit they managed to fit commercials into the epi's, that's too bad they cut out scenes.

So i know the girls had some scuffle while possibly making the movie but i heard its back in the works? Anyone know anything about it?
