I know there are some fans out there! Let's discuss the wonder that is Justin Timberlake.

I've loved this guy since I first started listening to *NSYNC (that would be 6 years). When Justified came out, I think I listened to the CD around 2-3 times daily. It's one of my favorite albums ever. I was lucky enough to see him in concert in San Antonio. I had some great seats and I was in awe the whoooole time. I lost my voice for about a day but hey, it was all worth it! He's my #1 favorite solo artist.

There are 10 more days until Future Sex/Love Sounds come out and I'm ECSTATIC. I would get it the first hour it's out but I'll be at school and at work all day. I'll get it right after.

SexyBack is one of my favorite songs right now, of course. Did anyone see Justin on the VMAs? He performed that and, hopefully, his new single, My Love. I can't get enough of that song! Here's the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvmADln_PeQ). Enjoy!

Hmmmm... I loved Justin when he aws with *NSYNC. Not as much now that he's solo. Still, he has a few really fun songs. I'm not a big fan of SexyBack, but somehow I always manage to get it stuck in my head... lol

It took me a couple of listens to get used to it, actually. Haha, just a couple. :) 'Tis a great song to dance to and well, I love to dance. Whee! When it first came out, I was in summer school. This one night, I couldn't stop listening to it but I was trying to study for a huge bio test the next day. Very distracting. Hehehe.

I've got his first album, but I'm not sure if I'll get FS/LS. I've heard almost all of the songs off of it, but I've really got to hear it some more. I absolutely hate SexyBack. I think everything about that song is horrible: vocals, lyrics, the beat, the song title and the video.

Oh the memories of Nsync. Boy, I loved them.

I can never look or listen to his songs ever again. Nsync scarred me for life.

I still listen to *NSYNC a lot of the time, lol.

Some of there songs are just not cool anymore, though. lol

Aurora10

But of course they're cool! lol I love *NSYNC.

SSFan, sorry you don't like the song. I really hope you like My Love! I think I might like it better than SexyBack.

I think it definitely is better than SexyBack. :) I've heard that the album will have a parental advistory sticker on it. Do you know if that's true?

Aurora10

Yep! It's true.

Ah! Not that much longer til we can buy it! I'm so excited. Too bad I'll have to wait to get it after 5. Boo. Buy it the first week since it'll only be $9.99.

I loved him in NSYNC but his first solo album was so good. I loved Rock Your Body, Cry Me a River, Senorita, and the first song that he came out with (forgot the name sorry but he "I just wanna love you babe!")

He is so cute as well, always a plus. I like his new song, but not as much as all the others.

The ones with NSYNC "Gone" oh, I just love that one.

He's a great singer.

I'm quite sure that no store in Canada is selling it for that much. The lowest price I've heard of is $11.69 from Best Buy.

I think he's a great singer. Not many of those guys in bands do well as solos.(Nick Lachey) Justin's done very well. I like SexyBack thanks to Aurora! After watching Ellen last Monday l had the song in my head all day at work. It has a very infectious beat.

Aurora10
09-11-2006, 11:57 PM
Yay! I'm glad you like it. Just wait until they start to play My Love on the radio...that's gonna be the song of the year. *shrugs* I just felt like saying that. lol Okay, so I'm just really excited about tomorrow and am talking jibberish. Wheeeeeee!

I think he's wonderful.. I'll admit it!!!! I love his songs... I want his new cd. Frankly I could watch him dance around for hours. And yet more hours! ;)

His songs are really good though.. perfect for getting in the mood to go out... or energy at the gym.

i really wanted to get the cd... i did... however, i listened to a free preview of the thing and there's only 2 or 3 songs i dig... other than that, it sounds like a prince record and nothing at all like him... just not my style... ah well...

09-13-2006, 01:32 PM
I'd be interested in checking out the free preview. I haven't purchased a cd in ages (XM has me spoiled), but have thought about buying this one based on the good reviews I've seen.

Superman
09-13-2006, 05:01 PM
here's the thing, if i wanted to listen to prince music, i'd get a prince cd... his biggest asset is his voice and on many of the songs it's just sounds so processed to me that it doesn't even sound like him... sometimes it works, but more often (for me) it didn't

Aurora10
09-13-2006, 07:01 PM
Prince? If you say so. I don't think he does. Which songs did you like?

Sooo, I bought it yesterday, as you probably all figured. I love it! The only one I'm kinda eh about it Chop Me Up. Three 6 Mafia is featured. Bleh. It could have worked without them but oh well. I listened to it once but on the 2nd listen, I liked all of the songs even more. It's gonna be fun to dance to them. Wheee!

My favs besides SexyBack and My Love? Lovestoned, What Goes Around, and Summer Love.

No downloading! Support my husband!

According to the HitsDailyDouble chart, FS/LS has been #1 for two weeks now with a combined sale of around 900, 000. It was around 680-684,000 in the first week and over 200, 000 for the second week.

Carencey

I have to confess that I also picked up Sexyback on ITunes. :D
But while "My Love" is not bad, don't think it's something I'd listen to a lot. What I did notice was that for some reason (maybe that clicky noise) it reminds me of Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?" It's just not really to my taste.

I still think that as fun as some of JT's songs are, his most enduring contribution to pop culture may be the term "wardrobe malfunction". It's like the default term for any sort of screwup now and it really didn't exist before he coined it. :D

Aurora10
09-27-2006, 11:26 PM
Yeah, it's really annoying how people are still with that. Let it go, people! Honestly!

Carency, do you have a favorite song off the album?

You know what else is getting to me? People who are ashamed of liking him. There's nothing wrong with liking him. So what if he was in *NSYNC (I love them, btw)? His songs aren't *NSYNC and he's not just some teeny bopper singer.

Yeah, it's really annoying how people are still with that. Let it go, people! Honestly!

Carency, do you have a favorite song off the album?

I haven't heard the whole album yet--I tend to prefer the upbeat dance numbers to the slower grooves so I usually get stuff a la carte on ITunes. Which isn't so much to comment on Justin as on slow groove stuff in general. It's the kind of thing where you can hear that JT is probably one of the most talented people making those types of songs, they're just not what I generally like to listen to.

You know what else is getting to me? People who are ashamed of liking him. There's nothing wrong with liking him. So what if he was in *NSYNC (I love them, btw)? His songs aren't *NSYNC and he's not just some teeny bopper singer.

I always preferred *NSYNC to BSB and never could really put my finger on why. I guess it was that *NSYNC always seemed more 'real' to me and less 'produced' but that is totally a subjective thing. Also, that all of the *NSYNC guys seemed like they would be nice guys and fun to hang out with.

chellly
09-28-2006, 03:47 PM
I like JT and liked NSYNC and wasn't ashamed to say it. I never liked BSB at all, or 98 degrees or any of the other NSYNC wanna-bes.

I downloaded SexyBack on itunes the other day. I love that song. (How sad is it that I am probably one of the last people on the planet to get an ipod, and I am still trying to figure out how to work the darn thing).

Aurora10

Fights? As in physical or verbal? lol I never got into any fights but I have argued playfully. It's all in good fun.
Just verbal stuff like over the internet. I subscribed to some BSB newsgroup many years ago and people said the lamest things about how *N Sync was supposedly copying BSB. One of them was how *N Sync used the same director for their Bye, Bye, Bye video as the BSB used earlier for, I think it was, the second version of their I'll Never Break Your Heart video. As if only one artist can use a particular video director. Come on! If that were the case, then someone else's fans can claim that the BSB were copying them for using some directors. It was so ridiculous that some people got it into their heads that they had to like one group or the other and not both.

Aurora10
09-30-2006, 03:55 PM
Yeah, I hated when people said everyone copied each other. Blah. They were a bunch of really young teens. *shrugs*

Do you know if it's been confirmed that What Goes Around is about Britney? The lyrics sure sound like it is. It's sort of like a continuation of Cry Me A River.

I doubt that song is about Britney. She hasn't come crawling back to him. JT said that these songs aren't really personal like his last album.

I completely doubt that. It just sounds like he's saving face and doesn't want to admit something. If it's not about Britney, then who else could it be? Not all of the lyrics sound like their situation, but most of them do like these:

Should've known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie

I was ready to give you my name
Thought it was me and you, babe
And now, it's all just a shame
And I guess I was wrong

He wasn't really in any other long-lasting relationships before her and the only one he's had since her is Cameron and obviously, the song doesn't apply to her. I don't know how anyone couldn't see that it's about Britney if you followed along with all of the drama that went on between them in the press.

ETA: I've checked out another messageboard where someone said that the song is about his friend Trace and his ex Elisha Cuthbert. I don't know how true that is, but I don't really get why he'd write something that's between two other people.

Of course all songs don't have to be, but a majority of them should especially when you talk about relationships.

Do you understand the point of having tons of pics in the packaging of FS/LS with the discoball?

Hehehehehe. :) I wanted to do it as a B-Side for our Signs parody, about Rachel Blake (from the Lost Experience) "She's bringing sexy back..." etc. However as TLE is over now, what I have in mind is something entirely different....

Maybe it will see the light of day someday. We shall see...

In terms of Timrbrlake-ness, I do have a half-written parody of N*SYNC's Girlfriend somewhere, about Crazy Lost Theories. "Why won't you read my Theory... It's really good..." :D

Because stuff like that is supposed to be personal, something that someone has experienced in order to give the lyrics emotion and meaning when you perform them.
Let's just drop it now, ok?

Ok, but what's up with the discoball?

Aurora10

Dude, it's not supposed to be personal. There aren't any rules for writing songs.

As for the disco ball? Really no reason for that. *shrugs* He's crushing one on the cover and I guess he wanted to have something to go with it on the actual disc. I dunno. It looks cool, though.

Oh well. Just thought you might know if there was a particular reason. Maybe it could have something to do with the album being dance music and when you think of dance music, you sometimes think of being in a club with a discoball? Or as you said, it looks cool?
Have you seen the video for My Love yet? If so, what do you think of it?

so i listened to the new cd several times to get a feel for it... it usually takes that long for stuff to grow on me and to see if i really like it or not.. i can safely say that i really like all the songs on this new album except for track 3 "Sexy Ladies"... i just could not get into it at all... at least it leads into the intro for "My Love"... to be honest, if that track was just the intro, i would have been totally fine... i think i liked this cd better than his first one... a lot more dance/upbeat songs... at least to me anyway... overall, awesome second outing from Justin... favorites-- future sex / love sound, sexyback, my love, love stoned, chop me up, damn girl, summer love

Wanna know something that makes me happy? Guys wanting his new CD. ALL of the guys (except for 1) that I work with, along with one from another office, have asked me to burn a copy for them.
