Special Agent Robert Hawkins? Colonel Robert Hawkins? Brother Robert Hawkins of [insert fraternal order here]? I do not believe he is part of any militia or terrorist organization. If he is involved in what is going on, I think it must only be due to brief advanced knowledge of what was to come. Seems like he was scrambling to get ready for it. I think he would have set himself up a little better if he had any control over what was happening or when it would happen. Certainly, he would have been training his children long before now. Now, I don't know if there are a lot of people in St. Louis speaking Mandarin Chinese, but to me that comment was very telling. Of course, after his interrogation of the radiation victim we all know he's involved in something up to his eyebrows. What do you guys think about his role?

shoot,

Just mentioned this in the Jake Green thread. I like Hawkins, but I don't entirely trust him. He's really a great character, though. Can't wait to see what they build him up as.

Yeah, I almost titled the thread "Robert Hawkins, Friend or Foe?"

I don't know about him. I think there is somethig fishy about him. I mean he know everything about what to do in case of radiation, but yet he was really nasty to the guy with the radiation burns.

I don't trust him at all...but he's a great character to have on the show.

It's adds a great element of mystery. I can't wait to find out what he's up to!

I just watched all the episodes again from the beginning today and noticed something really interesting. Every time some discovery is made about what is happening, it seems that Jake and Hawkins are on the exact same page. When everyone at Bailey's was watching the Chinese broadcast and questioning what language it was, Jake said Chinese, and Hawkins clarified with Mandarin immediately thereafter. When the storm was coming Jake and Hawkins both realized at the same time what needed to be done. Hawkins was standing in front of City Hall looking at the sky, and at the same time Jake was climbing up on top of a building or something for a view. They both came to the realization that a storm was coming and might be bringing fallout at the same moment. Jake didn't wait to get anyone else's input, he headed straight for the clinic to begin preparing the fallout shelter. I think this just goes to show that whatever Hawkins does, it's the same thing Jake does, only he has more experience and a little more in depth knowledge. He certainly has a higher security clearance. The amount of overlap in their knowledge is just too coincidental not to be foreshadowing something though imho. Also coincidentally, Hawkins and Jake are both back home after a long absence...hmm...

I think that may just speak to their experience existing outside a small insular community. I think they've both gained a lot of world experience and they have similar levels of intelligence.

I don't think they've been up to the same thing during their time away....I actually think that they were probably up to vastly different things...that I think they're going to clash over when the time is right. But what's interesting (as you pointed out) is that in spite of all that, they are the two people who are keeping this town together right now. I think that they're going to start suspecting eachother more and more...but they'll have to work together in order to keep Jericho safe.
