Now, we have a syrup server, but nobody making the actual waffles. Lol! Oh well, I guess we'll have to serve plates of perfectly poured syrup until we find a chef.

By the way, what's up with the creepy guy in the corner? :)My apologies. We can't seem to get rid of that guy. He keeps mumbling something about brains. We steer clear of him, as he might be a zombie or something.

Every time hes on the screen. I grin like him. Me too. I can't help it. He is like a child in his innocence and enthusiasm, and it is contagious.

Ohhhhhhh. That creepy guy in the corner.....I think I dated him once:rotflmao2: No wait I know I saw him no, errr never mind. Did anyone rewatch last Mondays' epi. I thought the waitress told Hiro that someone gave a book of Japanese for her birthday which I guess would have to be Hiro....but he hadn't gone back yet so it couldn't be him. I guess he could have given it without a name on the gift. Time lines soooo confusing!!

Excellent question. That definitely confuses things, but makes sense at the same time. These timelines are going to be tricky to sort out!

Of course you can eat first! Looks like I'll be cooking for now.

Don't worry about that guy in the corner, you don't have to serve him. He uses his telekinesis to serve himself. Which reminds me: look out for flying plates.

Your favorite Hiro's scene so far.
Mine is when he and Ando was in the room with the poker players (the second time) and he went to lean on what ever was next to him and fell over. That scene still makes me giggle.

well, with Scrubs they're all about pop culture stuff, and JD (Zach Braff) and the rest of the cast all have these types of funny ponderings of what could happen, so Hiro will probably show up when JD is daydreaming of wanting special powers to stop time or something... sounds hilarious though!!

Waffles in Flanders are often associated with the Flemish comic strip Nero by Marc Sleen. The characters enjoy a waffle feast ("wafelenbak") at the end of nearly each adventure.....Nero is a Flemish comic strip drawn by Marc Sleen and the name of its main character.

and for a little history of the word Waffle....
According to Alan Hindley's Old French - English Dictionary, the medieval French term for waffle was "gauffre." This became "waffre" in English by at least the 15th century. According to the Gode Cookery Website, vendors of these goods were called "wafferers" in English-speaking places.

Several types of waffles include...

Belgium Waffles
Liège waffles
Potato waffles
Japanese waffle (obviously, lol)
Hong Kong style waffles
Korean style waffles
Biscuit waffles
Sugar waffles
Soft waffles
Fruit waffles

The Belgian Waffle was introduced into North America during the 1964 New York World's Fair by its Belgian inventor, Maurice Vermersch. Observing that most Americans didn't know where Brussels actually was, he decided to change the name from "Brussels Waffle" to the "Belgian Waffle".

Good point. :bonk: Well, I doubt that many people would be ordering mixed drinks with their waffles (though we may want to keep some extra martini olives on hand). My boyfriend called me yesterday to let me know that he was watching the 3rd Austin Powers movie, "Goldmember", and noticed that Masi Oka was in it. Some of you probably already knew that. His character is listed as "Japanese Pedestrian", and he is shown running away from 'Godzilla'.

He only has a couple of lines:
Japanese Pedestrian (Brian Tee): "Run! It's Godzilla!"
Japanese Pedestrian (Masi Oka): "It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws, it's not."
Japanese Pedestrian: "Still we should run like it is Godzilla!"
Japanese Pedestrian: "Though it isn't."

I feel bad for Hiro because he failed. Don't Japanese people commit hari-kari if they fail? Hopefully he'll bounce back to the happy Hiro we love.:)

Here's a website dedicated to waffles - I never knew they were so popular.

Golf_fan, thanks for hanging out here last night with me, but unless you have Jessica's power you probably shouldn't mess with the guy in the corner.

Anytime, boodog, I am sure we could chat for hours, and several rounds of waffles :)

As for the guy in the corner, time has shown me that I have similar powers as MBG and Eden in command of my guests. See, here in Texas, we have a little (uh, huge) group known as the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commision). As long as you are a member of a club, you can drink. Anyone over 21 can be a member. It a mess. If you wanna know more, goggle TABC.

Anyhow, the laws lead to many a fighting customer. I have stood toe-to-toe (literally) with many (in family restaurants) over non-service due to alcohol laws. It's a shame to tell a Texan he can't have a beer, but I have laws to follow, and there are always people watching (agents of TABC). As a manager, I got to talk to the agents 3 times for my staff's mess-ups :(

Anyway, I say I have these powers, because in all the stand-offs I've been in, the result is the same. There is no punch, no beer, only iced tea, and no tip for me ;)

Soooooo, bring it on Sylar, the watch maker. You can't eat my brain you goofy kid. Too bad you're not a real super-hero.NO waffles for you, ONE YEAR!

BTW, I now understand how our Hiro affects time and space. It is sooo clear. I will read and post in the epi discussion. For a preview, it is the realization of Einstein's Theory of Relativity. YATTA!

(More coffee please. :) )

Wouldnt it be great to see Sylar and Hiro battle it out in an all out no holds bar food fight with waffles! Sylar would be shooting them at Hiro and then Hiro would stop time and there would be frozen waffles all over the place, he would of course eat them and when time came back to place Sylar would have syrup rubbed on his glasses! ahh how i wish

Btw, (I know that I have posted this elsewhere, but I strongly suggest it!) reading (or re-reading) Hiro's comic (#2 The Crane (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novel_002.shtml), discussed here (http://www.flicksnshows.com/showthread.php?p=1119196)) was great after watching Six Months Ago.
It expands Hiro's character a bit more, and makes you even more teary about when he puts that paper crane on her memorial.

what ingredients do you use for your strawberry banana smoothie lostslc? The strawberry peach sounds divine I must try that one.

It's rather simple really... I only use fresh, real fruit... so strawberries, bananas, ice cubes, yogurt, a small amount of sugar and the secret ingredient - real vanilla. If needed I will add a little bit of milk or water, but only a little. I don't really use measrurements because I have made so many that I do it by sight now...

A Japanese waffle, or taiyaki (鯛焼き), is a batter cake that is cooked like other waffles. It is shaped like a fish and filled with red or white an (a sweet bean paste), or custard (chocolate or plain).

gus, I quote you because you were the last post on this page, but I gotta agree with all these posts!

Hiro proved why he is worthy of our groups and admiration. He is more set on his mission after his two defeats than ever. Only, he doesn't know about his one victory . That is funny that he thinks THE cheerleader is dead, but is pressing on harder. Man, I love that guy!

And, I think Ando helped to ease some discussions as well, eh.? The future you is not you -- this goes along with my theory and exhaustive discussion. (BTW, the Hiro's Time Travelers group has launched, perhaps you all have seen us sitting in the corner during our weekly meeting, looking like a bunch of conspiracy theorists. :) )

And, Ando's line about "Save the Cheerleader, THEN, save the world" He is really good to keep Hiro in line whether he knows it or not.

I'll take some coffee and a moment please. The guy in the corner just tried to get huffy with me over some salmonilla in his eggs. I assured him we do not charge extra for the additional ingredients and that he should consider himself "special" for the thoughts of our chef! That guy is so ungrateful. Anyway, I had to kick him out and walk him across the street. My little sister and Haitian friend are making sure he gets a ride home.

Hmm guess it's time to head to Blockbuster and rent some oldies but goodies. My son has never seen Donnie Darko. Whats everyones plans for Christmas? We always spend it with my mom. So we'll be heading up to her place the Saturday before. I'll take a cup over here, please, miss emme. :coffee: Thanks!
Looks like some eps will be rerunning on Sci-Fi during the break. I'll definitely be tuning in on Dec. 15th to at least catch the first half of 'Pilot'. I have yet to see that one in full!!
For the holiday I will be going to MA for a few days to visit my family, then they are all coming here for New Year's.

Hanging out in Texas for the holidays. I have in-laws coming in from Kansas. It should be fun this year since my Longhorns fell apart and my father-in-law's Sooners leap-frogged us for the better bowl even though we beat them this year. That always makes for a fun conversation.

Funny, but he didn't want to talk about it last year

For the non-football fans, more Heroes please; for the football fans, Go Buckeyes!

We know our Hiro is moving east but with his ability I guess he can be anywhere but I was thinking (always a danger with me)
that perhaps when his father shows up in America he is purchasing it or already owns it
I spoilered this because not everyone might be aware of this coming.

Morning waffleers. Ive mixed the batter and started the coffee. The blender is waiting for the official blenderer? the only thing I could come up with for the sword would be Hiro goes back to feudal Japan and gets one then goes back further to start learning is use except the picture looks like an illustration not a true picture. I just don't understand unless in his haste to get away with the sword he "over shoots" his destination.

Midland and Odessa are two midsize towns in central west Texas, just below the panhandle. They are very close together.

DC - Stratch the "balmy"... it is now COLD and SNOWY here. Snowed tons over the weekend. It's FINALLY beginning to have the Christmas feel around here.

Finnster, thanks for all the hard work!!
Wanders, hope you have a good vacation!

I will be leaving for vacation on Thursday until the 27th. Going home to WA with the family to see my parents for the first time in a few years. We are all pretty excited. The only thing I am more excited for is the return of Heroes in Jan.

PS - Have you guys ever had a real "snow" cone? Used to make them all the time when we were kids. Use snow and flavor it with koolaid....

As I am usually up very late, I watch a lot of Weather Channel. This is not TOO unusual for us Texans here, but for these Southerlies to reach all the way up to NYC and beyond, wow, weather is getting weird.

Seems all the customers have the Christmas spirit. Hey, we need some hot Apple Cider and Egg Nog on the menu, yes? I will go to the store for ingredients since everyone is behaving themselves nicely. Be back in a worm hole (Flash didn't seem quite right )

For all who will be leaving the Waffle House in the next couple of days, Happy Holidays!

Ouch Fin thats a looooong day at work. I've been putting in 10-11 hours at work only because its sooooo busy. I work at a greyhound bus depot and people use us to ship their packages. Yesterday we had a line up out the door and down the parking lot. Crazy! Coffee anyone! :coffee:

I've dealt with plenty of snow, and had plenty of snow-cones from the ice cream truck at the beach, but never had a snow-cone of actual snow. I'd like to try it sometime, but not with NYC snow. Eww. All of it gets plowed away anyway.

This is not TOO unusual for us Texans here, but for these Southerlies to reach all the way up to NYC and beyond, wow, weather is getting weird. VERY weird. I was watching the national forecast this morning and it looks like it is more likely that some parts of Texas will have a white Christmas, but there is nearly no chance of it for us NYers. What's going on??

Do you think it's against company policy to curl up under your desk and go to sleep during work hours??Sounds like a good idea... there is actually plenty of space for that under my desk. I could probably successfully hide about 4 or 5 people there and we could all curl up for a nap. I'm not going to attempt it, though.

I am tired today too but only because of late nights trying to get everything ready for our trip.. and the baby is sick AGAIN... so hopefully she will be better come Thursday. Dr. gave us antibiotics... woohoo! LOL

DC - I don't balme you for not wanting to eat "real" snow cones with NYC snow... EWW is right!

We are definately having a white Christmas this year! I am excited for that.

Finnster - Hope you DO get some sleep come Thurs and Fri. Sorry you have to work so much! :frown:

I just want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone as well, before I get too busy and forget... :santagri:

Yeah, the Texas panhandle and parts of West Texas are caught in the cold front pushing from the north. As I can tell there is a front coming East from the Pacific, the normal Canadian push this time of year, and The southerlies off the Gulf of Mexico.

Usually, the cold fronts out of Canada keep the southerlies blowing up through East Texas (where I live), but the Jet Stream usually knocks the warm air down somewhere around Kentucky. But, the entire Eastern portion of the US is missing the cold front as it is turning sharply north WEST of Minnesota.

You are feeling what the majority of my normal winter is like, although, this year is a bit warmer than normal.

I was in shorts and T shirt raking leaves yesterday. LOL

merry christmas everyone and happy festivus
Yay! Festivus -- a holiday for the rest of us!

Did you ever try the Ben and Jerry's Festivus ice cream? I always meant to buy a pint b/c it looked pretty yummy ("brown sugar cinnamon ice cream loaded with gingerbread cookies and a ginger caramel swirl") but I forgot.
Too late now -- according to wikipedia: the flavor was renamed "Gingerbread Cookie" which has now been retired to the Ben and Jerry's Flavor Graveyard. Oh well.

Btw, to those of you that were quoting the Holy Grail earlier in this thread (and any other Monty Python fans), there is a new flavor called 'Vermonty Python'. The description is "Coffee liqueur ice cream with a chocolate cookie crumb swirl & fudge cows". Lol! Sounds yummy.
Maybe we should serve some here? We could throw some on top of some big toasty Belgian waffles! :essen:

My best friend lives in San Antonio, and she brags about her weather. It was pretty funny when I went to visit her, though, as there was an unusual cold front and it dipped down into the low 30s.

Speaking of TX... (a very delayed response)
(So, Dharma, is our House in Odessa or no?) Ok, with the lay off and all, I have confused myself. Claire's school is in Midland, and the Diner was in Odessa? Or is it the other way around?

Midland and Odessa are two midsize towns in central west Texas, just below the panhandle. They are very close together.
Yep, the other way around: Charlie's diner (the Burnt Toast Diner) is in Midland, and Claire is in Odessa.

However, the first diner Hiro goes to (that we see) is outside of Las Vegas, where he orders waffles and sees Nathan fly...

Hmmm... so, technically the waffles were first ordered in Vegas, but I think that I can safely say that the diner in Midland is more important to him.

Wait a minute... if this is HIRO'S diner, it should be able to teleport!
(I know, I know, ignore the physics and logic of that.)
So, I guess that it really has no particular location, but I would like to say that the heart of our waffle house is in Midland. :)

It snowed three years ago, then three years before that. Hey, I may see snow this year! Every now and then, then cold fronts do push through. Especially here where I live. I am right on the I-20 corridor just east of Dallas. Dallas gets hit much harder than we do though.

I love snow, but I hate cold! :)

Entertainment Magazine's Year End issue lists Masi Oka as one of the Breakout stars of 2006:
"Why do fanboys and nongeeks alike connect with Hiro, an exuberant naif who regards comics with religious solemnity? Maybe because he's the only Hero who isn't painfully conflicted about being super. 'He was stuck in this corporate world, and he got to realize his dream, and he's so happy about it. He's vindicated.'"

Hmm, am I a fanboy or a nongeek??? LOL - no fangirls in EW reckoning?
