Meeting the Others

Posted 12-25-2009 at 03:40 AM by Jonathan Gaskill
Because the wheel had only been turned a minimal amount, the distance the Island traveled was very small as well—just far enough to be located where the Black Rock had previously been. Instead of being located just offshore, the ship was now trapped far inland, in the Island’s Dark Territory. Shortly after climbing out of the well they had dug, they were approached by Richard and the Others. When Magnus asked who they were and how long they had been on the Island, Richard merely...

Frozen Wheel Chamber

Posted 12-25-2009 at 03:39 AM by Jonathan Gaskill
Eventually they dug all the way to the Frozen Wheel Chamber, which intrigued all of them. Magnus, who was a learned man, was fascinated by the presence of the Egyptian hieroglyphs on a remote Island so far removed from Egypt. As he went about investigating more of the Chamber, Widmore wondered what would happen if he tried to turn the wheel. As he did so, light began to pour out from behind the wall. Magnus became frightened and pushed the wheel back into place. But it was too late,...

Exploring the Island

Posted 12-25-2009 at 03:38 AM by Jonathan Gaskill
Magnus was successful in finding the Island. They knew they were onto something unique and special as soon as they saw the Statue of Taweret standing tall on the shore of the Island. After dropping anchor just offshore, Magnus, Nigel and the ship’s crew took several boats to the Island. The slaves were left behind, still chained down. The crew immediately set about exploring the Island, looking to see if they could discover anything miraculous or out of the ordinary.

Second Disappearance of the Black Rock

Posted 12-25-2009 at 01:36 AM by Jonathan Gaskill
Finally in 1881, thirty-six years after the Black Rock had initially disappeared, Magnus sailed the ship east of Indonesia to Papua New Guinea instead of his normal route west to East Africa. From Papua New Guinea he continued to sail east, in search of the Island. This was the last time the Black Rock was ever heard from again. The first mate’s ledger, which was left behind at the Hanso estate, was the only remaining proof of the ship’s existence. The ledger would remain...

Hanso and Widmore

Posted 12-25-2009 at 01:34 AM by Jonathan Gaskill
Magnus spent several years amassing enough money for this enterprise, illegally trading gold mined in Indonesia for slaves in East Africa. Later, he made the decision to bring a business partner into this venture, a wealthy friend of the Hanso family by the name of Nigel Widmore. When Magnus had enough funds, he hired a crew of 40, along with an unknown number of slaves. Widmore also went along, leaving his family behind to take care of the family fortune. Likewise, Magnus left the Hanso...
