Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully... without insult and personal attack. Name-calling, disrespecting other users or throwing personal insults against them will not be tolerated, either from an instigator OR from anyone who feels like they should respond to such instigation. Flaming another user because of their spelling or word choice will also not be tolerated. Personal attacks of ANY kind are not allowed and users who violate this will be banned. If you have an issue with another user, contact a moderator or administrator.  Libeling, Slandering, posting of information about other posters known to be untrue, and other attempts at berating other members is prohibited.  Threats against any persons life or health, including ones own, will absolutely not be tolerated and subject to reports to law enforcement.  Sexual harassment of any form against another poster via the Board, email, or Instant Message is explicitly prohibited.  Continuing to harass in any form another poster via the board, email, or instant message after being informed that communication is no longer desired is also prohibited.

Also, please note that Paid members have contributed to the operation of The Fuselage but are NOT considered more favored than any other user.  Paid members and regular members are all valued members of the Forum equally.  Also keep in mind, subscribing does not mean you can decide to not follow the rules. Subscribers will receive the same warnings as non-subscribers and if they are banned temporarily or permanently, that subscription time will be forfeit. Subscriptions are non-refundable.

Courtesy to New Posters
Making fun of new members for their ignorance on proper posting procedures, their grammar or spelling issues, or the content of their messages is expressly forbidden. You are welcome to debate and question them, but not to attack them for being new and unsure of our rules. We appreciate our members' concern for new members and invite everyone to welcome them in the introduction board or point them in the directions of the site rules and guidelines.   New members can not use their ignorance as an excuse for not following the rules.  They are expected to read the FAQs and familiarize themselves with the workings of the site BEFORE they make their first post.

Courtesy to VIPs

You are welcome to discuss their work, criticize their abilities as writers/actors/etc., and comment on their merits/performance, but personal attacks against them, anything regarded as a personal affront, is expressly against our rules.  Any intrusion into their private lives including but not limited to paparazzi photos or articles or rumors not directly commented on by the VIP in question are strictly prohibited.  Please refer to the FAQ for more in depth information on posting to the VIPs.

Trolls

Members are also asked NOT to take moderation into their own hands by responding to the taunts.  There is a "report post" button and our members are welcome to click it and let us know there is an issue so that we, the staff, may take care of it. (Vigilante moderation is not permitted by our users.)  Additionally, our members will practice common courtesy in dealing with the staff, other users and the administrators, and likewise the staff will endeavor treat its members with respect.  It is important to remember that this Forum is run solely on a volunteer basis and we are all human and sometimes have off days.

What's the deal with this 13 year old rule?
Pretty standard now. United States Federal law: no web site can solicit information from a person under the age of 13. We support this federal law as a matter of principle completely.

Where can I make suggestions for improving the site?
Make all site suggestions here.

Why is there no chat room on this site?
In our experience all the chat room turns into is porn, foul language and other things that we do not want this site associated with.

I am a GREAT fan-fic writer. Where should I post my stuff?
No where on this site. Seriously. For various reasons, the creative team can not be involved with fan fiction and as this site is sponsored by the creative team... well you get the drift.

Where can I post a link to my site/podcast/forum/etc.
You can post a small link to your not-for profit fan site in your signature and in our links section. If you wish to advertise further you can contact the admins for our advertising rates. Advertising without permission of the admins will result in either a warning or temporary or permanent banning.

Can we have a dating section here?
No. Seriously, no. Threads asking will be removed.

Can I be a moderator?
No. Don't ask. The quickest way to not be considered is to ask to mod something. When we need more moderators, we will pull from the list we already have or post a thread asking for volunteers. THEN you may post your desire to be one. Until then, don't ask. Don't PM any of the staff here and ask.

How do I stay safe on the internet?
For most of the posters here at The Fuselage this information is not new. It is put here as a reminder to everyone that staying safe on the internet is a full time job that you must pay attention to at all times.

The following link does not it belong to this site. It does however explain how to be safe. And what to do in the event that you feel unsafe here or anywhere on the Internet.

How to Stay Safe

Someone managed to get my login info and logged in as me and did some bad things. Now I am banned. What can I do?
Not much. We have no way of proving that it was some other person that did the bannable offense as you claim. So if someone logs in as you and gets you banned, then you are banned. To keep this from happening to you, you might want to protect your login information and change your password regularly in case it has become compromised.

I am trying to make a post and I get a 403 or forbidden error, what happened?
If you are trying to post and you get a page that is something like Forbidden You don't have permission to access... it is probably server security kicking in. Something in your post is triggering the spam filter, try rewriting the post to narrow down what the offending word or phrase is. If it still won't post, contact the admins and include a copy of what it was you were trying to post.
