Hi Gregg,

i have another question for you, apologies to you and anyone reading this if its been asked and answered before, i did find the question asked, but i never found an 'answer'.

so yes getting on with it:

some time ago in a promo we saw a preview with a phyisically different timer than that in the swan station.

since season 2 was still in progress, answering the how and why that happpened could have meant revealing some plot points.

but since we've now reached the end of 'the hatch' and 'the timer' and we're moving on
other things, can you please shed some light on this? was it just a special scene cut for the promo, or a mistake? or was there more to it?

The different timer was footage of the first attempt to build the timer. Damon and Carlton didn't like the look of it, so it was redesigned. However, ABC marketing used the footage of the first timer in the promo unbeknownst to us. (The Lost producers have nothing to do with making the promos.) After I saw it, I wished they hadn't used it because I knew fans would try to read something into it when it really meant nothing. Ah, but there you go. The beauty of a TV show.
