Desmond's picture.

Hi Gregg,

There's been alot of discussion and numerous threads started about the picture of Desmond and Pen. As I'm sure you've noticed, the Picture has changed to include Sonya Walger replacing the previous blonde that's in the picture. However, the shirt the women have worn in each pic has also changed. The previous shirt was white and the new shirt worn by Sonya Walger is black.

Though I disagree, this has led to many to accuse the writers and producers of being lazy or not trying anymore.
Could you please clarify if there was an intent of the producers/writers to purposely change the clothes Pen was wearing in that photo?

Just for reference sake: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/4708/2679/1600/desmondgirl.01.jpg

Thanks in advance.

Re: Desmond's picture.

Oh good Lord. Is that really a litmus test for the producers? If people are serious about that, they just need to stop watching now.

First of all, I would think that setting up the character of Penny way back in episode two or three (whenever that photo was revealed) would be a huge indication that the producers are trying, are really thinking ahead, and aren't lazy at all. I think the people upset about the photo are missing the bigger part.

Second, you don't cast someone of Sonya Walger's status 20 episodes before you ever use her. You would still have to pay her, and that's just not good business management.

Third, Damon and Carlton weren't the ones redoing the photo. Who's job is it? It's probably a combination of wardrobe and art department. But does wardrobe still have that very same shirt? What if they don't? What if it doesn't fit the actress? What if they didn't have time to match it exactly?

Lost is a big production and our crew do a great job of getting things done well. Sometimes, as with anything where there are over a couple hundred people working on something, things slip through the cracks. I would hope fans understand that and cut the producers some slack.
