Mesa, I agree that Sayid realized that Ana Lucia was scared and frightened of "the Others." It's the leap he takes to blame everything on Ben that seems really odd and interesting.

Exactly. At this point, they had absolutely no proof--at least from what we are shown onscreen--that Ben is an "Other." Of course, we know he is now, but why was Sayid so certain?
And technically, while what Ben's Co. did to Ana Lucia caused her to be in the mindset to be scared and shoot Danielle, Ben's Co. didn't cause her to pull the trigger. Or did they?

Relax Dude, I think she likes the guy
You're life
Ich Weiss Nicht (German for 'I don't know')
Look out Ana's the trigger
You're gonna kill her
Move on (Gun shot)
See ya (Like a chorus singing just after the gunshot)

Shannon
She likes the guy, she likes the guy
Shannon
Your life and and time is up
Help me
Shannon, meet me on the other side

Shannon
I don't think you should tell her when she comes
Obviously she likes you
Who's the guy?
I want to see Shannon

Who's the guy? Fire Lucia
The brothers that help us
Are you done with it?

Handbells, pearls, and fertility in this episode stood out to me since I was sort of looking in this direction lately. There was talk of a painting from Ben's Dharmaville house and its connection to fertility (Mating Ritual thread). There are also handbells below it which represent the female principle in Tibetan tradition.
The pearl is a symbol of femininity and also represents wisdom, innocence, purity and honesty.
On island Bernard just happens to be looking for a pearl for Rose but Jin comes along and says there are no pearl oysters (honesty) on this beach. Next, Sawyer comes up and tells Bernie Sun is pregnant and not to tell Jin.
And of course the doctor was lying about who was infertile and all the other mentioned half or whole untruths being told by pretty much everyone in this episode connects the pearls to the title.
There's also Jae Lee, who died with the pearl necklace in his hands that he tried to give Sun in "The Glass Ballerina." Whatever the damn pearl means it doesnt seem to give anyone good luck including Yemi, Boone, or the dead Dharmite in the Polar Bear cave from the Pearl Station.
The station could also be considered a big lie also since all there pneumatic tubes were shot into a pit and the real experiment may have been about the Watchers Watching the Watchmen.
The Sanskrit translation for Pearl is "Falling Star" or "Gem of the Moon." - Lostpedia
Thanks for the bells Miles. Another one to add to the list of shared objects.

I enjoyed this episode, the hatch sequence was great. I liked the opening with Sun and Jin because the scene changed from romantic to tension at the drop of a hat. Not the best off island flashback, and we learn later that this isn't exactly "The Whole Truth", but as a whole I thought this a solid one. The
Henry Gale arc is one of my favorite arcs in the show. The dialogue between Ben and Jack and Locke was great. Ana Lucia and Sayid, two characters for me that were up down in likability, were done well in this one. End scene, as Bicklefitch said, was great. Loved the martyr dialogue too.
What was really great though, was Sayid and Ana and Charlie finding the balloon. Then the grave. At that point, you're tricked into thinking, man, he was telling the truth. And then it cuts back to Ben in the hatch, pouring cereal. Ending with that little speech about what he would do if he were one of them and it raises the suspicion back up and the question: who the hell is this guy!?
To watch it thru the first time, it was a real head screw. Then we learn later that Sayid is hardcore enough about finding the truth that he digs up the grave. I watch it now and know it's coming, but that first time boy, that arc was a ride.
Biggest disappointed with the episode was that the whole truth wasn't actually the whole truth. Think they stretched that arc out too much, could have been condensed some, imo.
SAYID: [pointing] That cliff there appears to be this [showing the spot on the map].
ANA: Score one for Henry.
SAYID: Pointing out a geographical touchstone does not mean he's leading us to a balloon.
ANA: Maybe not, but at least we're on the right island.
- Isn't this and odd statement?
A-L says she's sorry to Sayid - she has made her amends - we should have known A-L was a gonner.
Still wonder why Jin heard Sawyer and Bernard talking backwards?
And we find out what a liar Sun is.
The martyr and a prophet line - I think Ben is going to be one or the other in the end.
Listening to the Commentary.
They were talking about all the pauses they had to do in the Dr.'s office because something kept falling down and they needed the shots to match perfectly.
Liz Sarnoff even suggests that she would like the pregnancy test was Kate's - but she doesn't know for sure.
It's interesting listening to the actors talk about Michael Emerson as "This Actor" before they knew what his part was really going to be in the show.

Great call about AL making amends, which signals impending death (redemption). Although I think her comment about the right island was more a joke, an attempt to lighten the mood and soften Sayid toward her.
