REB, leap of faith, huh? So are you in the camp that Hurley should have jumped off the cliff when Dave asked him to? 'Cause my verdict is out on that one... suppose it depends on the person/entity you trust, if they are going to take care of you or not.

I can picture it in my mind. Everyone would love it. Think of ~Lirpa~!

I loved the podcast with Jorge Garcia and Beth! I especially love all of the points Beth brought up--smart woman! I will likely discuss it more on the podcast thread. I also loved that they went and got the dictionary and learned the word "roiling" together (and what a great description of the smoke monster!)...I love how the cast is as excited about the show as we are!

Hey Dev,

Yep, I think some things have to be taken on faith. Am I in the camp that Hurley should have jumped off the cliff when Dave asked him to? No, I'm not. I'm not in that camp because I don't see that as a "leap of faith". Hurley knew about this imaginary Dave - he was informed due to his past experiences with phantom Dave in Santa Rosa hospital (where he eventually broke away from Dave's influence). With Libby's help, and his own knowledge that Dave was imaginery, he was able to choose not to jump (even though he almost did).

Re: LOyal to the queST #16: All Roads...

Oh my! I was in the middle of something when thefuse' went bye-bye!

I was traveling in the direction of Dogon... the Japanese man at the temple...perhaps (according to Lostpedia) it suggested the Temple priest Dogon... Notice the Dharma connection...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C5%8Dgen
Then a little birdy flew into my head and I looked up Dogon...remember talking about the Dogon tribe a long time ago? Can't look it up, thefuse' is not cooperating... Anyway, I found some interesting stuff... LOST (?) connections.
Found a French anthropologist/filmmaker, Jean Rouch. I scanned some sites... (he filmed the Dogon tribe... and their rituals)... Niger...Nigerian connections? Very interesting reading.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Rouch
"...fusion of art and science..."
http://www.maitres-fous.net/Stoller.html
Hmmm. A suggestion that Rouch had a fascination with "time"... like the Danielle team mission?
Anthropology certainly deals with time...
http://www.der.org/jean-rouch/conten...d=compose_time
Didn't Ben have a lot of African artifacts in his home? Dogon art?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogon_people#Dogon_art
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogon_people
Rouch filmed a ritual the Dogon people practice every 60 years... (I knew the answer to our universe was sexagesimal, base 60, LX... not 42!) The ritual seems very much related to ancient times...Egyptian...and when you connect the importance to Sirius in Egyptian myth and the importance to Sirius to the Dogon people's rituals, the connections start to be very intriging, to say the least. Hmmm. Who came first? The Dogon's knew about the 2nd star of Sirius in ancient times... Alien theories, anyone?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius#Dogon
The "Eye Star"...
http://en.allexperts.com/e/d/do/dogon_people.htm
Quote:
According to Robert Temple, the central element of Dogon cosmogony and cosmology is the star Sirius, which they call Po Tolo. This star was the seed of the Milky Way galaxy and is the "navel" of the entire universe. The Dogon describe the universe as "infinite, but measurable", and filled with many yalu ulo, or spiral star systems, including the one containing the Earth's sun. According to the Dogon perception of the universe, most of the universe is part of the "external" star system, while nearer to Earth is the "internal" star system. The stars in the "internal" system include many that they claim affect the lives of people of Earth and play a part in human history, including not only the Sirius star system, but also Orion, Pleiades and others.

An ethnic group that lives near the Dogon, the Bozo, have a similar mythology about Sirius in the sky and refer to it as the "Eye Star".
More on the Sigui ceremony and the cycle of "60":
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/un...appendix03.htm
I was under the impression... probably form studying Art History, that the Egyptians were the first to have the "theory" of reincarnation. Interesting that the Dogon people have concerning death:
http://www.dogon-lobi.ch/Copie%20%28...0de%2000yy.htm
Quote:
Before, according to Dogon myths, death did not exist. Instead, men metamorphosed into serpents. Yet, after the breaking of a taboo, the Dogon were exposed to death. The Great Mask represents the first ancestor who died in the form of a serpent. Its elongated form looks like a serpent. It is the receptacle of the ancestor's soul.
Quote:
The whole Dogon tribe in Mali holds a ‘Sigui’ ceremony every 60 years that reenacts their founding myth, ensuring a living transmision going back into the mists of time. See Jean Rouch on the Dogon Sigui ceremony in his book ‘Cine-Ethnography’
http://www.kk.org/thetechnium/archiv...enerations.php
Gotta read more...
(Interesting the Dogon have an alligator "totem" when you think of the importance of the symbolism is to the ancient Egyptians...)
ELEMENTS OF DOGON COSMOGONY. (Creation of the world.)
Hmmm, water god...fertility...twins...cardinal points.
(The Dogons circumsize both male and female, by the way...done by the blacksmith...)

Re: LOyal to the queST #16: All Roads...

Hey Bri! Great stuff!

It looks like we started talkin' about this in LOyal to the queST #3 and then again in queST #6.

(When search is down and I know what I'm lookin' for is in one of our threads I've found it easy to google the term and queST...I usually go right to it).

Yeah, Lirpa would LOVE it. I have to say that I'd still go with the Foxy (no pun intended, well, maybe there was) version of it. When I saw it for the first time, I think that my heart skipped a beat and I almost fainted...

Oh, poop! I watched the podcast with Jay and Jack and Jorge. I thought that that was the one that Sam was talking about in her link. Well, I listen/watch the one with Beth and Jorge tomorrow. They're such a cute couple.

Ms. Bri-Bri-Briolette - That is the longest post that I ever read by you in this timeline, the ORIG timeline and the ALT timeline (at least so far for the ALT timeline, lol)! You are one smart cookie! Kudos to you and all your awesome, wonderful, inspiring brain cells! Thanks for that post!

Bri, brings new meaning to "God is in the rain..."

"I have seen the fnords"

They asked Saint-Germain's manservant if his master was truly a thousand yeas old, as it was rumored he had claimed. “How would I know” the man replied. “I have only been in the masters employ for three hundred years.”

Re: LOyal to the queST #16: All Roads...

K, so have we come full circle here?
Love reading about the Dogon's Nommmos:
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/es...m#dogon_ingles
Quote:
The Dogon tells the legend of the Nommos, awful-looking beings who arrived in a vessel along with fire and thunder.

After they arrived here - they put out a reservoir of water onto the Earth then dove into the water. There are references in the oral traditions, drawings and cuneiform tablets of the Dogons, to human looking beings who have feet but who are portrayed as having a large fish skin running down their bodies.
Link from Todell's post:
Return of the Nephilim/Watchers...
http://www.returnofthenephilim.com/A...InHistory.html
Notice too, that some Sumerian goddesses and an Egyptian goddess have been depicted with a fish tail.
