Hatch Entrance(s) Question

Hi Javi,
First off, thanks for answering fan questions and the great podcasts! Now my question:

The first season it takes forever to open up the hatch (The Swan), it is obviously well sealed and fortified. At the beginning of the second season, there is a much more convenient way discovered to enter and exit the hatch, which is not fortified.

Then during the "Other" 48 days, the other survivors seem to pretty easily discover a different hatch (The Arrow), which also seems not to be fortified (just as the newly discovered entrance/exit to The Swan).

Is seems a bit cheap that after it took all season for the original survivors to get into the Swan hatch, that there would be an easier entrance/exit to the Swan and the Arrow. Is this just a necessity of the script device to make it easier for the Survivors to make it into the hatch or is there a good explanation? I know it isn't lazy writing!

we have never said that the other entrance is not well fortified - and it is EXTREMELY well hidden.

as far as the arrow - the swan was designed to stay there for a while and house people performing a crucial and ongoing task that required quite a bit of security. it is possible that the arrow was abandoned, fell into disuse, or that the tailies only found a part of the arrow station.
