Re: The Whispers and Other Hidden Audio Clues

That avatar is too too cool and very apropos.

Ok, penyours, I don't perform, I do makeup, (hence the name fancyface) but I still love to be able to see all of the performances, thru Opera (mostly) and musicals from here to Denver and Atlanta and back. My background thru college is a minor in Art History.

See you all on the board after the epi tonight, or tomorrow.

I'm a South Louisianian - born and bred. And Mardi Gras is quite dear to my heart! Here is a quote from William Joyce on the subject:

"If you are exposed to it as a kid you will never be quite like other people. How could you be?

You’ve watched an entire adult population, your parents, your aunts and uncles, your teachers or your school principles; all your authority figures, suddenly transform into Poseidon, or Mae West or a cross-dressing Santa Claus. Everyday life becomes an overnight Technicolor fever dream. Schools close. The daily schedule is thrown out for a new schedule of parties and parades that become an unending delirium where it’s not inconceivable but in fact highly likely that you might look out the den window at any given moment and see several dozen men and women dressed as Yogi Bear drift nonchalantly by in a papier-mâché galleon.

It’s like somebody knocked over the TV set and cartoons came spilling out.

For those of us who grew up in Louisiana, ”The Wizard of Oz” was like a documentary. Dorothy left Kansas and simply went to Mardi Gras.

Talking trees and wicked witches seemed perfectly normal if you’ve seen your librarian walking down St. Charles dressed in a gorilla suit and a set of woman’s breasts complete with blinking neon nipples.

As a result we tend to grow up with a keen sense of life’s absurdity and a healthy regard for the curative potential of fun
."

Oh yeah I forgot how loose the term vegetarian is down there! Thanks for the quote, that really does describe some of the vibes in the Big Easy. (and some parts of the fuselage )

Oh and back on topic: rvt should be posting the transcripts as soon as he has a free moment!

Re: The Whispers and Other Hidden Audio Clues

Finally here...this is a final transcript of voices hidden in the noise that occured when the timer hit zero and the heiroglyphs appeared...this is a little complicated, so bear with us. There were voices hidden at 3 different speeds in this...the "regular speed" itself had to be sped up a good 150%, then there's "Fast" and "super fast"...since there's so much, we didn't break them out into individual files for each line. The only one we broke out was done because it was totally lost when we found a line buried underneath it...so, my suggestion would be for everyone to download the mp3s and use a program like Audacity that lets you highlight sections to listen to. Then, you can go through, highlight the section you want to listen to containing the dialogue, and just listen to it...so here it is, and the whispers that occur immediately after this, as Jack opens the door and pulls Sayid out, will be posted shortly as well. MANY thanks fo Pen for her hard work the last two days. This one was tuff, and we worked at finalizing these things all night and day today.

Re: The Whispers and Other Hidden Audio Clues

Yay the transcripts are up!!! And of course, RVT deserves the kudos as well! (I need to head to the local pub now, because these ones really were a lot of work! )

Oh just one thing to clarify in the centre super fast section there are three groups of lines a) 1 and 2
b) 3 and 4
c) 5 and 6 and 6

In the scene, each of these groups overlap each other and occur at the same time. In the audio file I placed them one after another so you can better hear each line.

It sure seems like it, at the very least they know who he is and they see him as useful.

I for one love the "bugs" and the jambalaya, OMG yummy. We have friends that bring us crawfish back from their trip home to LA and friends that bring us back the bigger bugs from Boston. Oh man I miss San Francisco and all the fresh lobster.
