Star Trek (2009)

Has anyone else seen the new trailer?
I'm looking more forward to this one than I am to "Watchmen"!

I know a lot of hardcore fans are gonna be ticked off about some of the changes they're making, but IMO the franchise is in need of an update - & it looks like they're doing a bangup job!

The people they've cast are nearly perfect! (Still have some doubts about Karl Urban as McCoy, but from his line in the trailer, it looks like he's got the cynical attitude right!

Anyone got any thoughts?

Wow, that is great. I'm very excited to see this! I don't get out to movies enough these days, but I am committed to seeing this on the big screen.

Re: Star Trek (2009)

I'm all kinds of psyched for this movie! The Kirk is good looking enough, but he's no where close to the hotness that is Simon Pegg. A bunch of us have planned to take the day off and see it on the 8th. I have a friend who's seen it already and he said it's awesome. He's a huge Trek fan and if he likes it, it has to be good.

Re: Star Trek (2009)

I'm off on the 8th (took a vacation day just for the occasion), and hope to be there for the grand opening! I'll probably go back and see it again the next day with the wife & daughter!
I'm going into this expecting to like it! J.J. Abrams hasn't let me down yet.

Re: Star Trek (2009)

I'm really looking forward to it! That's a good sign, Madge, that your Trekkie fan likes it. I confess I was a little nervous with the "this is not your parents' Star Trek" previews, since I like my parents Star Trek.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing some more characterization of some of the supporting characters.

Re: Star Trek (2009)

I'm somewhat disapointed that they haven't include two of the characters from classic trek that we know existed during that time period

Finnagan (?) the bully who Kirk said picked on him in his accadamy days (& that he beat the snot out of in "Shore leave")

And "Number one" - the 1st Officer under Captain Pike in the original pilot.

Rob is devoted to the original series and he loved this movie and plans on seeing it several more times. Yeah, that's a good sign.
