The Compass

so is the compass Locke's constant?

Faraday did say it could be somone or something - so would that mean that when Richard met Locke as a child and asked him which of the items belonged to him and young Locke pointed to the compass, but Richard said not yet

Re: The Compass

I think it makes more sense that it's Richards constant. It would need to be something Richard recognized.

Re: The Compass

trying to recall but wasn't this compass one of the items Richard presented the very young John Locke with in the test last season?

Re: The Compass

Maybe Richard is Locke's constant, but Richard doesn't need one.

Not this compass. The compass Richard showed the young Locke is here:

Tonight's compass was different in that it looked to be a European compass (Spanish, French?) with an "O" where an American compass would have a "W".

Possibly "ouest"???

I'm pretty sure that is French for West....

Re: The Compass

That's my first guess, though we can't rule out Spanish (Oeste if I recall).

Re: The Compass

O for "ouest" would definitely be right, L.i.L. but i didn't notice an O swapped for W on the new one. i initially would've sworn that they were the same compass, but looking at the cap the faces seem different while the bodies seem the same. i'm going to trust my gut for the time being and go with it being the same one, but when we get pix from the epi i may have to reconsider that.

Re: The Compass

It does seem like Richard doesn't need a constant but Locke does. But other than that, I don't understand the purpose.
