Pregnancies Going Full Term Before the "Incident"?

I thought of something that struck me as odd with the season opener, but I could not put my finger on it until now.

1. Dr. Cheng has a baby. Was this baby conceived on the island? The baby can't be more than a 6 -7 months, but Dr. Cheng appears to have been working there for a while (e.g. he runs things, busy making videos, etc.)

2. Woman walking by as Dr. Cheng goes to work. The lady who walks by here: http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1455-7.html looks pregnant to me. The screen shot does not show it as well as actually watching the scene.

I had always assumed pregnancies could not go to term on the island, and led to believe any children with Dharma or on the island were brought there or conceived off the island, unless they were the hostiles (e.g. original island inhabitants)

Now I am wonder if pregnancies started to have issues after the incident...and that's why Juliet was brought to the island...

Perhaps babies not being born has to do with the time/space properties unleashed on the island.....

Just a thought.

babies cannot be brought to full term because of the energy released from the island after the incident...

Re: Pregnancies Going Full Term Before the "Incident"?

I was thinking the same thing. My whole theory is that the "incident" was not at the Frozen Donkey Wheel, but at the Swan Station. In Season 1 Sayid tell Jack that the amounts of concrete remind him of Chernobyl. I think they (DI) tapped into another so called "source" and the incident happened. They poured large amounts of concrete to cover it up and contain it and the station is a smoke screen and pushing the button is just a "release valve" for the energy.

The releasing of energy might also help prove the pallets of food dropping randomly, Penny being able to find the island, etc because it is like a beacon every 108 minutes. Random energy can cause mini time shifts?

I also think the island "punished" the people who tapped into the source by not allowing them to go full term on pregnancies. Thats why I was really amazed to see a baby on the island. When Lady Marvin Candle said "it's your turn" that implies a routine, which implies its been going on for awhile.
