Re: Rate the Episode!!!

any epi where Smokey makes an appearance is a 10+ in my book!

And this was one of the best Smokey sightings ever! I bet the 'temple' and it's hieroglyphs will be the "hot topic" here this week. Is it the same temple the Others went to?
Would make sense, but didn't we get the idea that their temple was in the Highlands?

I do agree that the Danielle story got a real 'cutting room floor' type edit. Way too short.

And ok, if it was the same one armed Montand we meet in Aussie; how'd he get away?
If Smokey drags him into the hold, why does he then just leave him there? What did the Frenchies find down there? is that why they go crazy? Or was Dannie the only crazy one?

the other too short plot line...Char. was she Annie's girl after all? Who was her Daddy? Benry, Faraday, someone else? Now i doubt we will ever be told, so i guess it doesn't matter.

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

I give it a 3. It would have been a 2, but since they appear to have finally killed off Charlotte, I bumped it up a point. This episode was so bad on so many levels; it’s hard to know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with a general observation: after 5 episodes, it’s readily apparent that we are just going to spend this entire season spinning in circles; stalling until next season for the big finale. Last year we did nothing but circle and hold getting off the Island, this year it’s more of the same to get back on the Island.

After a one episode reprieve of nobody getting killed, we were back to the body-bag count in this episode. Not only did we have more idiotic killing, it was done so poorly, I can’t even believe this show is made by the same people from S1. Do they think we all just have no brains? Last year, we had things like Sawyer taking cover behind a picket fence and a picnic table from .50 caliber machine guns (those bullets would have went through that wood like a knife through warm butter). In this episode, we have Danielle shoot the father of Alex at point blank range with a high powered rifle and all that happens is there’s a little bloody mark on his head. Half his head would have been blown off! I’m sure their answer to this would be something like, “We can’t show that on TV” and my retort would be, so why have it in there at all? It is nothing but senseless, so-called graphic violence that a 14-year-old boy would find cool, like Friday the 13th. Speaking of which, let’s not forget Smokey pulling the one idiot so hard into the hole that he lost his arm. Boy, the guy holding onto that guy’s arm must be the strongest human ever- to not lose his grip against Smokey. Ridiculous, sophomoric trash.

And speaking of ridiculous, how about Jin surviving the blast on the freighter. There was enough C-4 on it to level an aircraft carrier. When it exploded, Jin was still on the deck and it was nothing but a huge fireball- and the force of the blast was so intense it actually rocked the helicopter. A blast that powerful and Jin just has a little mark on his face? Give me a “bleeping” break. Of course, this terrible action is coming from the same people that had an RPG level Claire’s house last season and all she got was a scratch and her bell rung. Terrible.

Then we have Ms. Hawking saying a couple of episodes ago, if Ben can’t get all of them there within 70 hours, “God help us all.” In this episode, however, when Ben says these are all the people he could get with such short notice, Ms. Hawking says something like, “Oh, well. It will have to do, for now.” What is that? One minute it’s, “God help us all” and the next minute it’s, “Ah, it’s no big deal.” What a joke.

Then, with Hurley in jail and Sayid, Kate and Aaron departing at the dock, they have set themselves up to continue the boring story of how will they eventually all get back to the Island? BTW, doesn’t Sun need to bring her daughter back to the Island, since she was inside Sun before they left? Not to mention, one would think the big mastermind Ben Almighty would insist on it- for research purposes, if nothing else. After all, Sun became pregnant on the Island and the baby survived being born off the Island. I seem to recall Juliet suggesting doing that very thing to see if her theory was right about the Island back in S4.

Then, it just breaks my heart to know that we won’t have anymore Daniel loves Charlotte moments. But, at least we learned Charlotte was born on the Island and Daniel told her she would die if she returned. Um, who cares?

Last, but not least, we revisit the FDW- this time with Locke and Christian. What else needs to be said about that? Dreadful.

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

Loved the episode, but I really needed more of a reaction from Desmond at the end when he sees that Daniel's mother is the same woman who told him not to buy Penny's engagement ring, etc. He should have about fallen down in shock but all the writers gave us was a slightly puzzled look on Des' face.

I gave it an 8.

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

8 only becasue Lost has such high standards. a 5 for lost is still better then just about anything else on TV.
Sawyer was finally acting like Sawyer again. Loved the Jin-centric focus. I like his character more and more. His love for Sun was moving. The sickness reveal was interesting. Smokie was great, malevolent, terrifying, & powerful. Hawiking scares me even more. the scene with Christian was great. "What did listening to him ever get you that was good" Good Stuff.

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

Loooved it - so many good scenes - every episode should have this same balance between answers and new "mysteries".

Anyone who didn't like this one should go back to watching Nick at Night on Wednesdays.........

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

I gave it a 10! Excellent epi, i loved finding out new info such as Charlotte being on the island before and meeting Daniel. I also loved the fact we got to see the temple finally and find a little more out about Smokey, and..... Locke has eventually left the island!

Re: Rate the Episode!!!

8.
Jin and Smokey - my two favourite things...
minus for the FDW. the way that thing was bouncing around looked a little cheesy.
plus for Charlotte's rambling - actor/actress can find those kinds of scenes challenging for emotional accuracy, and I think she did great..
minus for Kate - her needing to proclain 'MY SON!!!' to anyone with 2 ears can be grating. minus to Ben, too - pointing out the obvious without wit doesn't cut it (w/Lost, anyways..)
plus for showing a temple/CV, but i'm in the pool with those who think that the Others went to a different temple.

I gave it an 8, I loved it, but Charlotte's death ruined some things for me, can' this show ever keep a good relationship?
