While I'll agree woland that the possibility exists for that, I'm not leaning that way.
Spoiler:
I know David Fury (I believe) had said that they had to edit out the sequence in Solitary where sayid asked Rousseau what her science team was studying and she replied time, but unless they decide to give us that reason now....
.... I'm off the mind that Danielle being pregnant was part of the experiment. Maybe that wasn't relayed to her or the team, but whoever put the operation together could have had that as a primary or secondary agenda, on top of whatever it is the science team was told. Sort of a two birds with one stone deal.
My hopes are high for this episode to bounce back from last weeks, which I thought dropped off significantly from Jughead. I won't spoil anything here, but from promo's and sneek peak clips, it looks very promising.
No real spoiler about the upcoming episode, reference to what I believe is on the season one DVDs. Just a precaution.
2 things: Danielle said they intercepted the numbers, much like Sam and Lenny, and were pursuing the source. So if they were going there deliberately instead of the reason they gave, then she musta been working for the other side because nobody apparently told them the heading etc.
And, Sayid asking Danielle about "A research team with guns?". He seemed suspicious about her so maybe we should be too? After all, there ain't no flies on Sayid, he's pretty quick and all...(<>..<>)
RANDALL FLAGG:Liars sit in chairs, you know. Truth tellers just sort of hunker down.
Alice: "If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”
Ash (shows shotgun): "All right you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? This is my BOOM STICK! It's a 12-gauge double barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. Ya got that! Now I swear. The next one of you primates even touches me.."
And she called the Smoke Monster "a security system." If she didn't have some prior knowledge to teh island before she and her team got there, then she must have gotten some info while there for sixteen years. It makes some kind of relationship between her and Ben seem more plausible, if she did learn about the island after arriving there.
Plus, setting up camp in an area known for high levels of Cerberus Activity doesn't seem smart, unless you consider that no one would want to venture to that part of the island willing, which would keep Rousseau concealed from others and Dharma. She had a car battery as well, where did that come from? Dharma Van? I think Ben helped hide Rousseau from Dharma until the purge. Afterwards, leaving her out there wouldn't be unreasonable.
Wasn't like she was going to come storming in to the Barracks. She kept to herself. I can see Ben keeping her around for the just in case possibility. He's a man who likes to keep his options open.
And, don't forget that Widmore's been looking for the island for the last 20 years, so maybe it was an earlier Widmore:Away Team 1 mission. As far as Danielle goes Merch, I'm not sure about how her relationship with Ben works, but in the end I'm pretty sure he sent her and Karl to their deaths thinking Keamey would return with Alex and then Ben would make his move. This way he, once again, gets rid of somebody without getting any blood on his hands ala Goodwin. Another angle could be that if the music box isn't serving as Danielle's constant then she must have gotten vaccine from somewhere and we've already seen the Ethan/Claire deal and how this might work...(<>..<>)
