ISAAC: There are certain places with great energy -- spots on the Earth like the one we're above now. Perhaps this energy is geological -- magnetic. Or perhaps it's something else. And when possible I harness this energy and give it to others. May I?
[He puts his hands near Rose's face and closes his eyes. He suddenly opens his eyes, looking disturbed.]
ROSE: What? What, what is it?
ISAAC: I'm sorry. I can't do anything for you, Rose.
ROSE: I didn't expect you to. [Rose goes to a window and looks out at Bernard talking to a young girl on crutches.]
ISAAC: It's not that you can't be healed. Like I said, there's different energies. This is not the right place for you.
ROSE: Where is the right place?
ISAAC: I wish I knew. I'll return your husband's donation.
ROSE: Don't. I'm going to tell him you fixed me. I'm going to tell him you fixed me.
316 (Season 5)
ELOISE: Aha. Here we go. [Sighs] All right. I apologize if this is confusing, but... [To Jack, who is distracted] Let's pay attention, yes? The room we're standing in was constructed years ago over a unique pocket of electromagnetic energy. That energy connects to similar pockets all over the world. The people who built this room, however, were only interested in one.
SUN: The Island.
ELOISE: Yes. The island. They'd gathered proof that it existed. They knew it was out there somewhere, but they just couldn't find it. Then a very clever fellow built this pendulum on the theoretical notion that they should stop looking for where the island was supposed to be and start looking for where it was going to be.
Isaac of Uluru ( http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Isaac )was aware of the existence of pockets of electromagnetic energy , we should have listened to him!
In Lost everybody speaks for a reason!
My next question would be ,,, Why wasnt this particular "pocket" right for Rose ?.. but the island obviously was... Are different pockets more appropriate for different things ? One for cancer, one for spinal injuries, one prevents aging, etc... or is the Island the "cure all" for everything, regardless of where it is.
Agreed. I, like others, was immediately certain that this was important information, and have been on the lookout for these "special places" since that episode. We now have 5, I believe: The Island, LA, Uluru, Tunisia, and Tallahassee. The challenge for me is working out their geographical relationship. I thought I had it until LA was added to the list.
