The way this was written, the intrigue that almost everyone else felt by Claire's flashback, the huge cliffhanger that let everyone's jaw hanging by a thread and the way they managed to give everyone in this episode a substantial part. It all made this the most outstanding of the season.
The first time I saw it I totally agreed. The second time I didn't like it as much but it is still prolly one of my fav eppies (I think Hearts and Minds took its place as the best though)
well, i won't know for sure b/c abc was more interested in playing the whiny kids show than letting us re-see ALL the epi's (i had to miss the regular season-- grad school forced me to NOT start a show i wouldn't be able to commit to every. single. week, & THIS one, you've gotta see it all. dangit!)
(i am of the understanding that abc had no problems with doubling up on episodes of the bachelor, tho'...)

Many of us (me included) have been griping about this, and the best reasoning I can come up with is that they want to save out some of the bigger shocker repeats to sell the DVD series.
I had really wanted to see this episode, I missed it the first time since I'd had a baby, and this second time we were moving
I'm thinking I'll get the DVD since now I can't see it where we live...unless we get satalite tv but I don't know about that....

If you really like the show I'd recommend the DVD set anyway--especially with a baby (congratulations by the way! ). The odds of getting to watch any show uninterrupted on a network's schedule with a baby in the house are slim to none. Besides, those rainy weekend view-a-thons are nice every so often.
If you don't buy the DVD set, I'm sure you can rent out the individual DVD you want at your local video store or borrow it from your library. That's how I caught up on the early Sopranos episodes.
Raised By Another is my second favorite behind Walkabout. It almost edged it out but Terry O'Quinn is just too great an actor. He totally knocked it out of the ballpark but Emilie did pretty darn well.
Walkabout was a great episode, oh yeah I forgot about that. Probably ties favorite with this episode. Hmmm, I forgot I posted this SEVEN months ago! Whoa!
