Anyone else struck by the powerful symbolism in the scene where Ben talks John off the ledge? I thought this was one of the most well directed scenes in the show thus far! The contrasting colors of Ben's and Locke's clothing, John's stance while standing on the table, while Ben played the supplicant, on his knees... brilliantly done.
I admit, though, that I'm a bit disappointed in Locke. He succumbed to the temptation and let Ben convince him that he WAS special, and in so doing, he betrayed the trust of the island. Perhaps that's the point, though. No matter what, Locke's just a man, no matter how divine or blessed or special he has always hoped that he would be. Then again, on second thought, he avoided committing a mortal sin by not killing himself. Instead he allowed Ben to make the sacrifice and, so, he was found worthy to be resurrected.
Anyway, just a few thoughts. Well done all around to the creative team. Very provocative and thought provoking.
