An interesting thought...

Are we totally sure that Claire is indeed pregnant? I have read that a woman can actually show the signs of being pregnant, weight gain, loss of monthly womanly stuff, without being pregant. The reason that I bring this up is that when Claire and Charlie are in the woods waiting for Jack to come (Ethan was supposed to get him). Charlie says, I wonder where Jack is. Claire gets a real scared look on her face all most like I don't want him to come becuase he might find out.

Maybe I am off base here, but its a thought.... Wouldn't that be a twist?

I briefly considered that too. However what about the test strip that showed the pink stripes. Would a false pregnancy result in the appropriate chemical changes to fool that test? I think that Claire is pregnant because the alternative is just too complicated a plot line to play out well on the show.

Yes, it's possible for a woman to think she's pregnant when she's not actually, and her body will make adjustments such as missed periods and such, but I've never heard of these experiences lasting so long nor causing a weight gain only in the stomach area, so I'm betting she really is pregnant.

Re: An interesting thought...

WOW! Interesting thought and man would that be the biggest twist in the history of television if Claire were not pregnant. But wait, are you KIDDING ME! After I finish writing, this post I am going to search the Internet until I find proof of this whole women can have the belly of an eight-month pregnant woman and not really be pregnant. If this is true I may just faint. No way is this a possibility in "real" life. Now if JJ and Crew tried to pull this idea off then man I would give them some props. What a fantastic theory Mariners100. If you were like most people on this thread, you would definitely think I am being sarcastic but I really think Claire not being pregnant would be a terrific twist. I just want to make sure you understand I am not trying to be rude to you. Most people on this website think I only post on this website to start arguments when in fact I am just opinionated and enjoy debating. Welcome to the board.

Interesting thought - - except that she has felt the baby kick. And Jin and Charlie have also felt the baby kick. Would that go with the territory of a 'faux-pregnancy'?

Would be QUITE a twist, though!!

Re: An interesting thought...

I don't think so. Too much has been detailed about it. The test, the pyschic knew before she told him, his fear of the child within her, an adoptive couple would more than likely insists on medical record before shelling out $20,000 for the baby, Charlie and co have felt him kick, her early contractions. It would have been a good twist, but I think it would be unreasonably complicated to twist it now. Besides I think the baby is involved somehow, with the bigger picture.

That's what I was going to say. And it can't be that she's "faking" the kicks because Jin and Charlie have both had their own amusing responses to Claire's baby kicking.

Re: An interesting thought...

Is that possible? wow. Her stomach is pretty big by now.

As for the whole Jack finding out thing, she wouldn't have demanded that Charlie to go get Jack if she wasn't pregnant eh.
But if she isn't...and its just another plot twist...I'm going to be very confused.

Re: An interesting thought...

It is possible, but I'm not sure her body would "fake it" to such an extent. I've heard of the opposite happening thought- woman not knowing they were pregnant until a few weeks before their due dates or when they go into labour.

Re: An interesting thought...

I know it's possible - the body can stop having a period and the stomach can distend. I don't know how she'd fake the kicks, though. I mean, I know women can think a baby's kicking when it isn't really, but for it to be big enough for others to feel it, I doubt that.

Also, she seemed to really *not* want to be pregnant in the flashbacks, rather than willing herself to be.

Another thought - did anyone think it was odd that the psychic didn't suggest that she abort? I don't want to start a pro-life/pro-choice debate here, but it would seem that if it was a little Hitler inside her body, he might try to persuade her of that rather than put her on a plane crash... ???
