What I want to know is why Christian"s body was missing from the coffin when Jack found it...but Locke's body is still around. Obviously the body is not needed to be taken over since we see Locke's body while his appearance is being used.
Christian was confirmed dead a while ago by Damon in a podcast.
They've "confirmed" a lot of things. Not to mention he could've been dead, but resurrected, as all (many) had assumed was the case with Locke.

I guess the body could've been lost almost anywhere on the island or in the sea. Very very strange though.
christian is himself and there is proof of this. in the mobisode epsiode "So It Begins" Christian tells a dog to go wake his son up because he has stuff to do. If this was anyone but christian, the real christian:
a. why would he bother appearing as christian to a dog?
b. why tell a dog that Jack is his son
c. christian appeared at the same time as evil jacob did in the cabin. unless this evil jacob can appear as 50 million different people all at once, they are 2 different people.
d. why appear to michael as christian right before his death when michael has never seen christian before and was going to die so could not tell anyone?
Christian and Claire appear to be themselfs, not the evil jacob. although to who's side they are on... well that's still up in the air. but christian is christian.
So I guess Christian IS dead
