This is the kind of episode I've been waiting for!
Jacob was much darker in this one than we're used to. I loved that most of the episode was in Spanish with subtitles.
Seeing the Black Rock ar sea in the storm was just as I always imagined it!
I'm wondering now, if Whitfield who saved Ricardus from the gallows was the 1st mate under Magnus Hanso. It seems likely that Widmore is his desendant.
Anyway - now we know the island is a "cork"...whatever it's corking.
...At last, I'm learning...there's no returning, once I start.
To live's a privilege - and to love is such an art...
but I'll need your help to start...oh please purify my heart...
I am your servant.

Gave it a 9. The episode played out exactly how I had asked for, I'll quote myself from the preview thread:

It would be pretty cool if this episode was 100% flashback. I think it would be a very nice change of pace...
I'm so happy they did it this way. No flash-sideways! History on Richard (the SAME Richard), really adding depth to his character and explaining his origins and motivations. Now that's how a story should be told!
I deducted a point because I really don't like the overtly christian/religious good vs. evil direction the show is heading.
