I loved that the flash-sideways ended on a real cliff-hanger - life(double-life with Sun pregnant) and death situation. Patchy loses his eye and I think his life for real in this timeline.
I'm going to have to watch it again to see what the deal was with Sun and Jin's secret - did Paik set them up - get Keamy to bust them?
Loving the show still although I'm dreading the outcome - both timelines look like they're going to get dark(er) and probably quite bloody.
Most of the on-island story was excellent, specifically the Widmore/Desmond/MiB/Electromagnetism plot that is coming about. Although it's all still pretty confusing.
I enjoyed Sun's actions on the Island as well. It's about time her character stood out this season, and her motivations were very believable and her actions admirable.
I love that all the Losties were shown in one capacity or another. I loved both the Island story and the FS and all the twists and turns in the FS. How danged cold do you have to be to have your target deliver the money to his killer??!!! Wha??! I loved the Sun and Jin resisted Flocke. I LOVED IT! I was so afaid that Sun would be so desperate to get to JIn that she would succumb to temptation. There are other things but I'm sleepy and my brain's threatening to quit.
I wasn't expecting to like this episode, but surprisingly, I walked away from this one more entertained than I have been from previous episodes this season. I'm usually not very interested in Sun/Jin centrics; however - this episode offered me some more action and less boredom then some of the previous AU centrics this season, centrics on characters whose flashbacks used to keep me very intrigued for the most part.
I'm starting to just settle into a laid back approach for this final season, I think. I've lowered my expectations, and I find it's helping. For a long while, I was griping and complaining as I compared this final season to seasons already gone by. I'll always miss what I thought could have been but there are elements from this final season that I am liking (Jacob v. MIB conflict) - even if sometimes I'm feeling disappointment by the execution of it.
Mini-twists that made the AU watchable for me:
1) Sun and Jin are not married in the AU 2) Sun and Jin have been carrying on a 'secret' affair in this AU 3) Unbeknownst to them, Mr. Paik (Sun's father) is aware of this affair 4) Mr. Paik has set up Jin with this 'business' arrangement. The money was intended as payment to Keamy for 'services rendered' (bumping off Jin). 5) Sun is shot in the crossfire and reveals to Jin that she's pregnant (that was kind of predictable to me, though, when she said she had something to tell him).
Even the island scenes kept my attention. I liked how we got some back and forth focus on both of the groups for once, inside of one single episode (Flocke's group/Jack's group). I also liked the Sun/Jack interaction. Sun's emotions were portrayed in a realistic manner to me - I'm glad some focus finally shifted onto her, she's been in the background far too long. However, I don't think this is a good sign for her character, I'm anticipating a death for her soon. I'm still questioning Widmore's motives in all of this; however, I did feel like tearing up a bit when I got to see Jin view pictures of his daughter JiYeon. It was bittersweet.
Desmond as 'the package'? Somewhat predictable; however, I'm still wondering what exactly this is supposed to mean in regards to Desmond.
Also, I pretty much predicated that Flocke only intervened and had an ulterior motive when he stopped Claire from killing Kate the first time. Now, he's giving her the go ahead when he's done using her for what he needs. Still not getting why he's claiming he needs 'Claire' when she's not one of the names listed; however, he could just be lying until his use for her too runs out. Or, maybe he's lying the other way, he needs her for something, but doesn't want her to know what exactly it is. Crossing my fingers that Claire doesn't die because Claire's return and the fate of Claire/Aaron is the main thing that has captivated my interest for this final season.
I don't post often, but I justed wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this season. I've halted a lot of board lurking recently (usually I'm not spoiler paranoid, but THIS season is the exception) so I was surprised to see a lot of negative reactions to not just this episode but every single one.
Everyone has a right to their opinion, especially with a show as special as this one.
Here's mine...
I don't know what a lot of the haters were expecting out of this season, did they think it was just going to be answer after answer after answer? Is this why we watch the show, for answers?
I see a lot of people upset about the newfound circumstances with the Island... and to that I'll say : I've always felt the Island was a special place.. So for me, this conclusion is totally plausible (in the context of the Lost world) and quite enjoyable.
Every episode has been a pleasure (CEPT KATE ONE SHE SUCKS ) ... I couldn't of imagined a better final season.

I'm right with you plost, even on the Kate episode. I think this season has been brilliant so far, with or without the 'answers' a lot of people seem to be crying out for.
Loved It. Loved It. Loved It. Awesome twists and turns in the alt, good island stuff. If only the non-Substitute, Ab Aterno, LAX episodes were this good.
