Never been high on Kate but I am feeling incredibly sorry for this character at this point! Can this woman make nobody happy? She gets no thanks for taking care of Aaron, gets browbeaten by Jack for claiming Aaron, gets the bum's rush from Sawyer when she shows back up on the Island again trying to help people, nobody wants her anywhere, Sawyer is now so over her he is indifferent to her, even Jin was laying a trip on her last night!
I guess her last act will be "Hi, Claire! At last! Come to reunite you with your prescious baby!!!" only to be shot up by Claire worse than the Bonnie & Clyde car. I'd say it's suicide pact time for her although everyone would probably just complain about the flies on her body!
Kate has always been pathetic my eyes. Desperate, immature, needy, flaky, self absorbed, short sighted, and a number of other terrible characteristics that make me wonder why anybody ever liked her, aside from being a big flirt.
This episode definitely served to highlight how pathetic she really is though.
Here Sawyer is grieving over a woman he loved more than life itself, and Kate is already trying to convince him to help her out on her own cause, and make the situation about HER. Note to Kate: NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU.
It's also pretty ironic that if Kate had stuck with Jin, instead of running like she always does, she would have run into the person she is looking for -- Claire.
Yeah, Kate really sucks. They better have something to redeem her somewhere in S6...otherwise her character will always be a majorly crapty part of the show. I mean, I have enjoyed her in the past, but it's just gotten to the point where...I cant even understand how they could write their female lead's character sooo badly. The triangle stuff was always tiresome, and the "help Claire" mission seemed sort of tacked on for me.
The the OP...yeah, in a way I agree. When you put it like that, I do feel sorta bad for the character, but then again, most of it's her own fault...for being so flightly and fickle.
"...Jack and Sawyer. They're the duality. They're one of the most important character axes on the show."
A few times she iritated me but in last night episode i was really sad for her....i didn't find her self absorbed i thought she was just a woman in love ...but the guy she loves he's grieving another person and wants to be alone...
It always used to struck me how alone she was. It stood out for me for instance when the O6 landed all the relatives were there to greet their beloved ones, heck, even Sayid was smooched by Hurley's mom, and there she stood, clinging to Aaron, looking really really sad. With a crap of a father whom she blew up and a mother who calls security every time she lays eyes on her, it was a given.
But in today's ep they underlined that she really does bring it upon herself. Jack was so eager to hold her back but she was itching to run after Sawyer, why? Because she can't have him. As simple as that.
It's also pretty ironic that if Kate had stuck with Jin, instead of running like she always does, she would have run into the person she is looking for -- Claire.
Nice catch and I agree. It can't be a coincidence that Jin meets up with Claire (zombie-Claire?)
Aw, I always loved Kate. She's very brave and loyal despite her faults. When the chips are down, Kate is a good person to have by your side. She is not a fair-weather friend.
