I mean, it was Shannon who died in his arms, but the last one to die in his arms was Nadia. That would be the person fresh on his mind right? Nadia was dying and asked Sayid to "take her home."
Does it really matter? I think it would be a way for TPTB to write Shannon back into the story at least....
Re: The only thing I cared about died in my arms....
You know, I actually completely forgot that Shannon died in Sayid's arms as well. I always thought it was weird that after spending so much time focused on finding Nadia, Sayid got into a new relationship within, what, a few weeks of crashing on the island? Still, I think he must mean Nadia, based on who was important to him in the flash-sideways. Shannon didn't show up at all in his other reality, so I'm not sure the connection is all that meaningful.

Great point and insight, but I am pretty sure they meant Nadia, especially with the parallel flash-sideways.
Re: The only thing I cared about died in my arms....
It had to have been Nadia - he was married to her and described it as the happiest time in his life. The whole Shannon relationship was always somewhat odd to me, considering Sayid was heading to LA to find Nadia and that he promptly married her as soon as he got there, which was about two months after Shannon died.
What would Sayid have done if Shannon had lived? I've always wondered that.

I'm hoping he meant Shannon. But now that he appears evil... neither!

Re: The only thing I cared about died in my arms....
The writers appear to have a thing for a loved one dying in someone's arms...just a few episodes ago we saw Juliet die in Sawyer's arms.
You know, what if Locke promised Sayid that he would bring back to life the woman who died in Sayid's arms? Sayid thinks he means Nadia, but due to the technicality of the law he can bring back Shannon...or something.
Re: The only thing I cared about died in my arms....
Did anyone else find it hard to swallow that Sayid believed Flocke's ploy that he could bring Nadia back to him? That's pretty out of character for Sayid to believe something so unrealistic.
