Course correcting the nature of the candidates

Hurley: Comes to the Island with bad luck. Bad luck turns into good luck in the episode where he finds the Dharma van. Never loses weight because it seems the island keeps supplying him with food. Becomes a leader.

In time-line B he has good luck, is still overweight and is now a leader-like entrepreneur.

Sayid: Comes to the Island as a killer. Ends up torturing people. Reinforces his nature as a killer when he goes on his rampage for Ben. Loses his girlfriend to a horrible accident.

In Time-line B, he's still a killer and never marries the love of his life...and he finally accepts that.

Sun: Comes to the island as the victim. Seems sweet natured. Ends up stalking Ben much like someone that might work for her father.

Will it wind up that she was working for her father in Time-line B?

Jin: Comes to the island as a stubborn hard-head who is working for Sun's father. Ends up sweet natured and loving.

Will Jin be the one running away from Sun's father in timeline B?

Sawyer: Comes to the island as a conman criminal. Ends up the head of the lawmen of the Dharma initiative.

Will Sawyer still be a law man in Timeline B?

Finally, Jack: Comes to the island as a man of science. He turns into a man of faith, but he's STILL Having problems.

In timeline B we find him as a man who finally forgave his father and moved past the whole being scare of him thing.

I bet you $10 that the person coming to the Island is NOT Desmond, but Christian, and Christian will finally apologize to Jack and Jack will finally be able to forgive him and move on.

See what I'm getting at? Timeline B represents the true nature of our Losties. Everything that has happened to these people on Timeline A was part of course correction to get them back to their true natures...for better or for worse.

This is why I think Sun and Jin will never get together on the Island. They weren't together in Timeline B and that is how it is SUPPOSED TO BE. Thus why Sun didn't time travel and was further separated from Jin. Course correction at work.

Locke is the enigma. He was supposed to accept his limitations and realize that despite them, he can still be happy. I'm not sure how Locke can return to his nature since he's dead...unless he's actually still somewhere within FLocke...or Locke is just one of the tragedies. But I have a feeling the MIB underestimated Locke in some way thats going to wind up his undoing.

I like the course correction theory you propose, however

For me, this would be quit the let down. I think Jack's daddy issues really have no place this big in the story line, but hey, I guess we'll see. For all we know, maybe Jacob only said there was someone coming to the island so Hugo would have the necessary incentive to be able to bring Jack to the lighthouse and "make him stare at the ocean". There may bot really be someone coming.

The way I saw the flash-sideways difference in the case of Sun & Jin was that this time around, Sun seized the opportunity to get separated from Jin by not helping him out of the situation with the US customs. Beyond that, the only thing we really know is that Jin eventually ends up tied to a chair in Sayid's brother's restaurant freezer. How did he get there though, that remains to be seen.

So I do think the course correction theory holds for now but it gets a bit fizzy with yesterday's episode, and I would attribute that to the MiB's influence/doings. Despite the previous events, all losties have been presented with a choice of which side to stand on...

What if Sun left him there?

Hmmmm that would be interesting... How would it have happened though? Foreplay gone bad? The old freezer fetish roleplay deceit bait and switch trick? LOL

Or ...maybe Locke was always supposed to be dead, and he confounded his destiny as a newborn when he beat the odds of being born premature, with all the complications ...just by his will to live. This was maybe what got Richard interested in him after getting the tip from the 1954 time-traveling Locke to witness his birth in two years. Richard maybe then saw his incredible "life-force" and saw him as "special". Of course, course-correcting caught up to Locke when Ben killed him.

Except that Jin was actually planning to run away with Sun once they were in the US. It was revealed that Paik knew about their plans when the paper-towel guy in the Sydney airport men's room warned Jin. We don't know if Jin and Sun would have still attempted to escape Paik's influence in the US, because the plane crashed. But I think Jin had had about enough of the "mob enforcer" life. I think he was always good-natured, and that was what made working for Paik so difficult.
