The last scene

I know they've been doing the whole echo season 1 thing, but that shot for shot recreation of an episode at the end when Hurley and Jack rolled up, wasn't that from season 3 when Kate and Sayid went to get Jack and he brought Juliet back? I can't remember when it was or what the return was, but Sayid was throwing logs on the fire, I think Sawyer or Hurley was sitting where Miles was, and Matthew Fox even gave pretty much the same performance. It just struck me as strange because everything has been season 1-ish, but I can't for the life of me remember a slo-mo homecoming like that in season 1.

Yeah you have the scene right. It was when they brought Juliet back.

I thought the recreation was beautiful.

I did too...it was very stunning to see it and immediately recognize it. And if I remember correctly, Jack's facial expressions and actions were almost exact as well. Kudos to all involved on that scene.

Re: The last scene

Actually that scene has played out like 4 different times on lost.

There have been a lot of long-departed parties that appeared from behind that bush/corner on the beach.

Season 2: Bernard, Jin, and Libby

season 3: kate and sawyer after coming back from Hydra

there are maybe one or two more I can't remember

Yeah, there have obviously been homecoming moments, but my point was on this scene, it was shot for shot. For the entirety of the scene starting with lapidus putting logs on the fire all the way through, it was exactly the same scene when they showed up with juliet, the differences were different people in the roles, and a mirror image of a lostie frowning upon an other, who was it, Kate looking nasty at Juliet when she came around the corner vs Jack looking somewhat icily at Ben as he noticed him. Also the way Jack shook hands, when he smiled, etc. There was a bunch of minutiae that was a direct copy as opposed to just being somewhat of a homecoming scene. And it makes me wonder why they would pick that scene to mimic, especially since it is a season 3 thing, and they've been aping season 1 when they do any kind of self reference. Though I guess the answer to that is in your statement...no season one homecoming?

Yep, exactly. Even the music was the same.

What I'm wondering, though, is who in that scene was in the place Ben was?

Off the top of my head, I think it was Sawyer, but I'm not certain.

Re: The last scene

Just so everyone has it for reference:

I honestly don't see more similarities in this than any of the other reunion scenes. My point was, whenever there was a beach reunion, EVERYONE comes out from behind that same bush, and the scenes all play out pretty similar.

I also don't think they are very focused on the mirroring season 1 thing anymore, since this was a Ben episode anyways, and he wasn't even in season 1.

I was thinking of these two:
