Walt

Does anyone else notice something funny going on with Walt? His role concerning the island is getting weirder and weirder. When he kept winning at baackgammon, when he was talkng to Sawyer he was pretty much discribing the situation involving the "others" on the island. I think Walt has more of a Locke complex with the island than meets the eye... ???

Re: Walt

I couldnt' agree with you more, I was going to post this myself. As soon as I saw Walt consecutively role what he needed in backgammon and then nail the "others" thing when talking to Sawyer. It goes along with the Walt controls what happens on the island thing.
Going along with this maybe Walt made the plane crash? a desire to get away from Michael or to join his mom in heaven? who knows because then Locke made it rain too... hmmm ???
I really liked Walt's scene with Sawyer it was really cute to see someone different interact together. I like Sawyer's newest nickname, Tattoo for Walt

Re: Walt

Locke didn't make it rain, he said it was going to rain in about a minute, meaning he just knew. If someone is skilled, usually people involved in armed forces or hunting, they can tell what the weather will be like, especially rain by looking at clouds and such.

Re: Walt

I think Walt got a whole lot more complicated this episode. Since an upcoming episode is entitled "Special" and rumor has it that it's about Walt and Michael, I'm going to go out on a limb and declare that Walt has some sort of mental powers.

I don't have access to playback of the episode, but he said something about his "other dad" (can't remember his name) saying that he was the luckiest kid he'd ever seen, or the luckiest kid on earth or something like that.

This combined with the polar bear, the rain stopping all at once, rolling exactly what he needed each time, etc. makes me think that he has mental powers he's not aware of, or has no control over. It's his "lucky feeling" or whatever.

Also, as mentioned before, he pinpointed exactly who the Others are, and Ethan's role on the island.

It makes me wonder if he created the monster without realizing it. The fact that he wasn't at the cockpit site sort of invalidates this theory, but what if he created it and it is now out there on its own without further input from him?

I think Walt is going to have a lot more impact on the events of the island than we think.

I was watching the Pilot again today when I also noticed something interesting. Walt reveals to Locke in their first meeting that they move around a lot. If Walt is "Special" in that he has mental powers of some sort, it would make sense that they would end up moving from place to place. What I don't understand is why his "other dad" (whom I think is named Brian) didn't take custody of Walt after his mother's death. Michael didn't seem to have much to do with Walt's upbringing. Maybe he doesn't even know how "Special" his son is.

There really is a lot of coincidences with Walt; the polar bear, the others on the island, the rolls of the dice. Could they all just be red herrings? I hope not.

Re: Walt

What about Sawyer's new nickname for Walt, "Tattoo?"

Tattoo was the midget on Fantasy Island. And let's all remember that on Fantasy Island, anything that you requested, came true. *This really contributes well to the Walt manifest theory.

Re: Walt

I was just about to post about this! It reminds me of the posts about the characters paralleling characters in the Stand.

I think he could be telekinetic, or/and whatever that term is when you can manifest whatever you want. Back in the pilot, the polar bear was one of the first things I thought about, that comic he read. I would think that Walt's always had these abilities, but that whatever is on the island, or whatever the island is, is making it much stronger. You have to wonder now, if he was thinking about the plane crashing when they were all on it.

Also, what's up with him having a step(or other)dad? Makes me think that kidnapping theory might have some weight to it.

Ahhhh... good point! * It could be nothing more than a smartalec nickname that Sawyer came up with, but then.. it could be a clue! *(must go stick this on my wall of theories...)

I'm thinking that the reason they moved around so much was to stay away from Michael, and it was only after Walt's mom's death that they had to go find Walt. *I don't think that Michael knows anything about Walt's special abilities. *And now that I think about it, the "Special" episode, it will be told from WALT's point ot view, not Michael. *

And yes, there was a comic Walt was reading (Spanish version of a Flash/Green Lantern comic) where one page had a polar bear on it. Not long after that, the polar bear appeared..... spooky, eh?

more theories soon...

Re: Walt

The front of the comic I believe had the polar bear picture or maybe just one of the inside pages had the polar bear on it but yes, there was a picture of a polar bear in the comic book.

I also believe the whole step dad thing gives more weight to the fact that Michael kidnapped Walt. Considering the circumstances, the step dad would have had more rights to the child; I should write I think the dad would have more rights in this situation. Maybe the stepfather died too. Do we know how Walt's mom died?

I thought Walt rolling the dice so well was fishy but do not know why yet.

Maybe Walt is telekinetic but just does not realize it yet. Kind of like the X-MEN School of Arts. The kids are mostly there because he or she does not understand his or her ability and is learning how to properly harness the power. I honestly have no clue.
