The Light

Is this the light that Locke was referencing seasons ago when he was talking to Eko?
"I saw a very bright light. It was beautiful."

Or is it a different light? Did it go away after "Adam" floated into it?

Locke said he saw the "eye" of the island. "Eve" said it was the "heart" of the island. Maybe they were talking about the same thing.

Re: The Light

I thought it might have gone out when MIB was thrown into it. Perhaps the light was keeping the darkness (Smokey) at bay. Or perhaps Smokey was just hiding and pretending to be light, but could be released if someone ventured in there?

Re: The Light

They talked about the cave/light as being "the source", bringing up all sorts of symbolism!
Biblical, "Let there be light..."
Joseph Campbell always talked about "the source"...

Re: The Light

I think that Locke saw this same light, but I'm not sure how. It's important to remember that the light was still there when Ben and Locke turned the Donkey Wheel.

I'd love to see some scene from Desmond's perspective to witness what the heck happens in the Light....

Oh, man, that would be awesome. Ha - I wonder if we'd then have two Smokies - one light, one dark? Talk about a terribly confusing yet epic battle scene.

Re: The Light

Yep, I think this was the light Locke referenced when he met Smokey and most likely where he would have been taken when Smokey grabbed him if Jack hadn't thrown the dynamite.
