for the whole pregnancy issue. Is it really because the statue was destroyed, or was it because Mother doesn't want anyone to have a child born on the island? I mean really, who has been born on the island since MIB and Jacob? Just Aaron. And Malkin knew he was special... (or was that just Abbadon getting him to get Claire to the island on behalf of Widmore?) Widmore must have something to do with everything. Was he born on the island? Does he have knowledge of future events?
Oh yeah. Ethan was born on the Island... Does that mean that the pregnancy thing started after Ethan was born?
Was MIB causing the issue?
Interesting that Ethan was the one trying to get a pregnant woman to give birth, since he was the last person to be born on the island (theoretically).
I believe D&L said somewhere that if you think about what happened after Ethan was conceived on the Island, then you might be able to come up with what caused the pregnancy issue. I took that as meaning that something having to do with the Incident caused it.
For those of you mentioning Aaron as being special, remember that it's always been that women who conceived on the island would die if they gave birth on the island. You could conceive or give birth on the island, but not both. Examples: Sun conceived on the island but safely gave birth off island, Claire conceived off island and safely gave birth on the island.
I feel silly for thinking about this as I doubt there's ever been a clear reason even in the writer's room, but if the Incident is responsible for this phenomena then we haven't seen anything to go against that. Alex was also conceived off-island.
BIB/MIB spent 30 years with his people digging holes all around the island, though we didn't see any, shouldn't we assume that at least one child was born in 30 years? If the women were dying in childbirth, would there be any women left after 30 years? I'm pretty sure we saw at least a few carrying tools and such.

Ethan was conceived and born on the Island. Therefore the problem began subsequent to that.
