Shortly after the show started, I saw a news program calling Lost the little show that no one really expected to last that suddenly became a phenomenon & how it had generated millions of fans worldwide..."and all of them are talking to each other on the web".
Well - I'd been a fan from the 1st episode, but had never registered or posted on an online forum before...but that last quote did it for me! I searched 'till I found the fuse, and mustered up enough courage to register and jump in - and it has had a huge impact on my life!
The last 6 years has been an adventure I (almost) wouldn't trade for anything!

Awww, Lunch, I loved your post! It's wonderful that you are going to watch the finale with the fan who matters the most to you.
I have a similar story only I'm the mom who did the LOST enabling. My son was never interested in anything on regular network tv. But he moved and was without satellite tv for awhile, so one day while he was visiting I told him to take my S1&2 dvds of LOST. He was hesitant but I told him, "trust me, LOST isn't what you'd expect from network tv." He ended up taking the dvds home with him, stayed up til 2-3 in the morning for about a week and called me every few episodes with the usual "OMGs! I can't believe this show is so good!" And he even said those beloved words, "Mom, you were right!"
Since then, he has come over nearly every week to watch LOST with DH and me. We have a satellite feed for the eastern time slot so we watch it at 6 P.T. and then he goes home and watches it again at the regular P.T. of 9. He dvrs it, too, as do I, so we almost always watch it again before the next week's episode. He isn't a forum kinda guy but he does always want to know what we on the Fuse have to say. He also started a tradition of buying us the dvds as part of our Christmas gift. Then he would borrow them and get his friends hooked on the show. So the LOST enabling legacy continues.
Soon he will be coming over for one last LOST supper. Boar, in the form of chili verde, is on the menu, as is shrimp salsa, pina coladas, pineapple sorbet. I can't hardly wait for him to get here. I know we're going to both shed a few tears, but the sadness won't be as hard to bear knowing that I have enjoyed this wonderful journey with someone I love so much.

LOST and the Fuselage made a bunch of us internet savvy. We learned because we wanted to learn more. Surfing the web is second nature to me now. I can pretty much find anything, by using a few key words. It's not something anyone can teach you. You discover it out of necessity, on the spot, because you can't wait, hit and miss. I love that about LOST.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who bought a bigger tv with Lost in mind... I got it this year, in fact (finally saving up enough) and I knew I had to have it in time for the show.
When Lost started, I had a big clunky 32" tv...today, it's still 32", but flatscreen and a whole lot clearer! DVD recorders hadn't come on the market yet, so I had to record it with an (old fashioned) VCR. There's been a lot of changes in 6 years...seen a lot of people come and go from this board. I've been seeing a lot of familiar names posting today - it feels like a family reunion!

Lost and the pursuit of intelligent tv conversation...
Thanks to the writers, the fans, and the fan frenzy that has made this the best tv experience of all time. It had everything: love and lust, chaos and destruction, death and childbirth, special effects (both good and very bad lol), and it made us all pick up books and research things we never thought we'd be interested in! I caught myself researching egyptian writing and the inspiration behind Alice in Wonderland simulataneously
This was the best tv experience I ever had (sorry Friends, General Hospital, and Party of Five).
*applause applause* you fans rock too!
How many apologies do you owe for insensitively saying "you're theory sucks" in so many words? Lol
Re: Lost and the pursuit of intelligent tv conversation...
Anybody as excited and sad as me?
We are having a party at my house. We are planning down to the time the ribs(in memory of the boar) have to go in and mangos! The rules in my house are no talking unless a reaction to the show but no discussing unless commercials or after.
We are also wearing black. A sad occasion indeed. The last of Lost.
And we are truly sorry to see it all end and no longer have The Fuselage and the posters, even the nasty ones, to come to.
Re: Lost and the pursuit of intelligent tv conversation...
I only owe about 5 apologies because I usually just roll my eyes without leaving a comment lol. I was going to a party then decided I'd like to make noise and be quiet at my own house so I could have my own rules lol. I am the Jacob of my household.
