...to make sure Jack didn't die alone. That thought adds a whole 'nother layer of beauty to the scene for me. Makes me teary eyed just thinking about it.
I have a dog named Vincent and he looks like Lost's Vincent. When he came over so Jack wouldn't die alone, I started crying. Not soft sobbing, I was bawling like a baby. I did that for hours untill I actually had to take a Valium. Today my eyes are still all swollen. What a beautiful, touching image of loyalty. It is a image I will never forget.
rocker: Not sure if your post was meant to be funny, but thanks for making me laugh. I saw the Finale this morning and have been incredibly sad -and crying every now and then- all day.

I love dogs. My dogs follow me wherever I go and sleep by my side. But that scene just didn't touch me like I thought it would. Jack had no real 'relationship' with Vincent so I don't believe loyalty was an issue. Why would Vincent be loyal to Jack? Michael, Walt, Rose, Bernard...that makes sense. But Jack? Though Vincent was watching Jack in the very first episode when we saw Jack's eye pop open. And he was there, by his side, when we saw his eye close. Jack's eye closing had much more of an impact on me than Vincent laying by his side. Probably because after the beginning episode, along with many, many others, starting with an eye opening (Jack's on more than one occasion), that his eye closing made it seem like it was truly the end of the story. It made me sad.
Or....maybe because I was a tad distracted by the obvious fact that Vincent was played by a different dog in this episode. Maybe not.
I think Vincent had a special relationship with Jack. One of the mobisodes featured CS on the Island sending Vincent to wake up Jack as he had "work to do." Maybe he was a "guardian angel" of sorts? He kind of reminded me of Odysseus' dog Argos.
