At the caves:

The caves are less than a mile from the beach
‘I believe it’- Kate referring to being rescued

Sawyer carries 2 suitcases as he moves into Jack’s living quarters, one in each hand
Back to the jungle:
Charlie starts to get chased by a boar. He is wearing a horizontally striped shirt
Flashback:
It has been one week since Charlie’s last confession
Charlie confesses about having a 3 some
‘We all have our temptations but giving into them, that’s your choice’- Priest
Charlie makes the choice to quit the band

Back to the jungle:
Locke uses one light and one dark suitcase as counterbalance for the boar trap
‘You make excellent bait’- Locke to Charlie
Charlie asks Locke for his drugs- first time
Locke tells Charlie he is going to let Charlie ask him 3 times for the drugs. He says it has to be his choice to get rid of the drugs, not Locke’s
‘If I did that you wouldn’t have a choice Charlie. And having choices, making decisions based on more than instinct is the only thing that separates you from him (points to the boar)’- Locke
Back to the beach:
Sayid tells Kate and Boone he needs 3 points to triangulate the signal
Kate’s spot is 2 km into the jungle. Boone’s is on the beach. Sayid will take the high ground
If the signal is inside the triangle Sayid can locate the source. Is the radio tower that close to the beach and not near the Black Rock?
There are 2 complications. The power cells are dry and the transceiver’s battery is dead
They use bottle rockets to signal one another
‘Thank God for fireworks smugglers’- Sayid
Scott/Steve is in the background
Sayid will launch his rocket first; the he tells them to launch the rest
Sawyer is still reading Watership Down
When Kate approaches Sawyer about a laptop battery: ‘I don’t feel sorry for you, I pity you’- Kate
The laptop battery serves as a handle. It is a long large battery. Military laptop or Arzt’s?
Back to the caves:
Charlie wants to help bring the baggage. He starts to talk about his band
Charlie gets caught by Jack going through the pills
‘I don’t need you right now’- Jack to Charlie
Flashback:
‘You want to take away my chance to be somebody?’- Liam
‘It’s not who I am. Sometimes I jut get lost in it’- Charlie
‘I’ll be there looking out for you. We’ll look out for each other.’- Liam
‘If I say we’re done, we walk away’- Charlie
‘You’re the rock God baby brother’- Liam
Back to the caves:
Sun tells Jin he should see Jack about his wrist
Jin does not like Sun wearing the blouse she is wearing. This time Sun doesn’t change but rather gives Jin a reason, ‘it’s too hot’- Sun
Hurley brings Charlie his bass (?) guitar/guitar case. Charlie brings up his band days again. He tells Hurley he wrote ‘You All Everybody’ on it
Hurley doesn’t care to hear it. He says Jack wanted the guitar moved. Charlie is visibly annoyed. He goes to confront Jack in the cave
‘You’re going to look out for me, yea? We’ll look out for each other is that how it is?’- Charlie. It is the same thing Liam told him outside the church
Charlie gives Jack 3 mock reason why no one wants his help
‘You don’t know me. I’m a bloody rock God!’- Charlie to Jack
As he says this, the caves collapse
Charlie makes it out. Jack is still inside
People visible at the caves: Sun, Jin, Hurley, Charlie, Jack, and 2 or more extras
‘And make sure you tell Kate’- Hurley to Charlie as he goes to the beach to get help
Back to the jungle:
Sayid mentions to Kate how they all survived the plane crash again. He says the fuselage cartwheeled through the jungle
‘How do you explain that?’ Sayid
‘Blind dumb luck?’- Kate’s response
‘No one’s that lucky’- Sayid
Back to the beach:
Walt is wearing a horizontally striped shirt
Charlie approaches Mike first to tell him about the cave in
Mike calls Steve Scott. Scott corrects him
Scott wears a solid light blue shirt. Steve wears a horizontally striped shirt
Mike tells Steve to get a couple of guys to help
5:00 sharp is when Boone tells Shannon to light the bottle rocket
Sawyer calls Sayid ‘Mohamed’, Charlie, ‘Amigo’. He volunteers to find Kate
‘You keep doing, whatever it is you do around here’- Sawyer to Charlie
Flashback:
Liam sings Charlie’s part of ‘You All Everybody’. Charlie is visibly upset
Charlie confronts Liam. Liam promises it won’t happen again
Charlie sees his brother with the heroin
‘Chill baby brother’- Liam
Back to the beach:
Charlie has a lost look on his face after the Sawyer comment
Back to the caves:
‘8 years of construction work’- Mike on how he knows if the cave might be safe or not
Mike tells them there should be 4 digging at a time
First 4 are Hurley, Boone, Mike, and Jin
Back to the jungle:
Sawyer tries to tell Kate about Jack. Kate snubs him.
‘What makes you think I would be interested in anything you have to say?’- Kate. Sawyer decides not to tell her about Jack
‘Just came to tell you, you were right about me. That I don’t help anyone but myself’- Sawyer
Charlie walks upon Locke cutting up the boar
Charlie tells Locke about Jack
Locke stops momentarily at the news, then keeps cutting
Locke asks if there is anyone to help
Charlie found Locke to get his stash- Locke knows this
Locke shows Charlie the moth cocoon. He tells Charlie the moth can spin silk; it’s stronger, faster
‘Struggle is nature’s way of strengthening it’- Locke
He then tells Charlie this is the second time asking for the drugs
‘Ask me again and it’s yours’- Locke to Charlie as he holds the bag on front of him
Back to the caves:
Jack is pinned and can’t move
Jack mentions Charlie was with him. He still shows concern even though he is incapacitated
Back to the jungle:
‘I don’t trust him with you’- Sayid to Kate
‘I can handle him’- Kate’s response
Back to the caves:
Hurley tells Jin they don’t understand Chinese. Mike corrects him and tells him it’s Korean. He looks at Sun as he says this
Charlie volunteers to go into the small crawlspace.
‘I’m alone here, no one on the island. Let me do this’- Charlie to Mike
Back to the jungle:
Sawyer grills Kate about Jack
‘Give me a couple of Band-Aids, bottle of peroxide, I could run this island, too.’- Sawyer
Kate asks if he is really comparing himself to Jack
‘The difference between us ain't that big, sweetheart’- Sawyer
Sawyer calls Jack ‘St. Jack’
After he tells Kate about Jack, she throws the bottle rocket at him
‘Look at the bright side. Now you have someone else to pity’- Sawyer
Back to the caves:
Charlie quickly turns the flashlight on 4 times to test it
Mike and Hurley tell Charlie ‘good luck’. Boone tells him ‘be safe’
Flashback:
‘Hey baby brother. Grab a bird and sit down- Liam. Bird reference?
4 girls are in the room
Charlie suggests the walk away
‘I am Driveshaft!’- Liam
‘If you’re not in this band, what the bloody hell use are ya?’- Liam
Charlie sees the heroin on the table. There are 5 film containers of heroin on the table. Charlie grabs on with his right hand
Charlie is wearing his right from the second tour of Finland
His right index fingernail looks like it is painted light blue. All the other fingernails are black. The blue one looks back after he grabs the heroin
Back to the caves:
As Charlie is crawling through towards Jack, a second cave in starts
‘I’m here to rescue you’- Charlie to Jack. A Star Wars reference?
Kate shows up. She looks frantic
‘Why is nobody digging?’- Kate. She gets to work continuing the digging. It inspires everyone else to continue digging
Jack’s right shoulder is popped out of its socket
Charlie says he can’t do it 3 times referring to popping Jack’s shoulder back into place
Flashback:
As Charlie approaches his brother’s house, the camera shows wind chime with 2 bells on it. A larger one is on top and a smaller one is underneath it with a ceramic piece at the end. It looks like the design of a sun. Do the bells represent ‘big brother, little brother’?
The house number is #52
Charlie first knocks 4 times. Then 6 times
Charlie tells his brother he has booked 8 weeks on tour opening for MeatCo.
There are 2 bear stuffed animals in the sandbox with Megan
Liam missed Megan’s birth because of Driveshaft/heroin.
They were in Dresden, Germany stumbling around trying to find a fix
Charlie blames Liam for making him a junkie by taking away his music
A swing in the background is hanging really high off the ground. By about 4 or more feet.
‘You never looked out for me!’- Charlie
Back to the caves:
Jack knows about Charlie’s drug addiction. Charlie says it’s been almost a day and a half since his last fix
Jack tells Charlie he won’t forget he saved him
Charlie says the caved in cave reminds him of confession. He asks Jack if he wants to hear his confession
‘I’m no saint either’- Jack
Charlie sees the moth in the cave. He follows it and starts to dig
Mike starts to get Kate to quit unsuccessfully
‘I can see light’- Charlie
Charlie sticks his right hand through the ground. He snickers as he does this
Walt is the first to see Jack
Kate gives Jack a big hug
Hurley hugs Charlie.
‘Dude you rock’- Hurley to Charlie
Back to the jungle”
Sayid sees its 5:00. He places his left arm to his head and says something before he launches the rocket
Back to the beach:
Shannon is talking to another girl about being in Malibu for part of the year. She says the guys are such idiots
She says ‘damnit’ 4 times before launching rocket
Everyone launches on time. Sawyer included
Sayid gets a signal. The bars on the LCD read 1, then 6, then 5, then down to 4, then to 3, then up to 15 bars
‘Where are you?’- Sayid. He says it 3 times. Once after he gets the initial signal. Then twice more after he gets it. This is just before he gets knocked out. Hit is on his left side of his head. As he says it the last time he starts to look over his left shoulder
Back to the caves:
Hurley gets water for Jack and Charlie
Jack covers for Charlie when Hurley asks if Charlie is feeling ok. Jack says it’s the flu.
Locke is brushing off the cooking boar with a branch with leaves on it. Keeping the bugs off?
Walt asks Mike if they can live at the caves
Kate makes Jack his first sling.
Charlie asks Locke for his drugs for the third time
At first Locke has a look of disappointment/failure on his face. He lets out a big sigh
‘I’ve made my choice’- Charlie to Locke
Locke held the drugs in his right pocket. He hands them to Charlie with his right hand
Charlie takes the drugs and throws them into the fire. After seeing this, Locke smiles
‘I’m proud of you Charlie. Always knew you could do it’- Locke
Charlie sees the moth again. So does Locke. He smiles again.
A look of relief comes over Charlie’s face
Did Charlie know he was being used as bait?* He didn't seem too upset after the boar was trapped so I guess he knew.
Locke seems to have a motive behind his actions.* Wonder why he helps Charlie?* To make him stronger like the moth...* Stronger for what?
Hurley made a point to tell Charlie to tell Kate about Jack.* Did Hurley know they were in the jungle trying to get a signal?
Charlie wanted to make sure he was the one to go in the cave to get Jack.* I think he thinks this is his opportunity to prove his value in their new society.
I really enjoy reading you minutes.* I hope you don't get discouraged from the lack of posting.* They will be here when season 2 starts.
taro- thanks. I will keep posting here. I understand its slow on the off season. what I just learned is they aren't replaying Raised and my original one stinks. so I will have a gap in the series which really bugs me.
after the boar incident, I think Charlie was kind of upset but ultimately I think he has his mind on his drugs.
I often wondered why Locke picks Charlie as the first he helps. was it because Charlies problem was so obvious? everyone else seems more complex. maybe Charlie was Lockes springboard. Charlie does tell Jack he would trust his life and everyone elses in Lockes hands. pretty decent endorsment
I agree that Charlie felt the need to prove himself. especially after all the comments from everyone dismissing him as useless. with a guy that used to be a 'rock God' this takes a swipe at your ego. maybe the island 'knew' this. instead of Jack saving Charlie, Charlie saves Jack. Locke saves Charlie. so in effect, Locke saved Jack in a round about way. was Locke aware of this?

I would like to see Raised again. I think there were some things said I missed the first time around. Guess I'll have to buy the DVD. I didn't record any of the episodes, halfway through the season I wish I had.
Maybe Locke somehow knew Jack would make it out OK, or did he even care. Charlie told him about Jack being in the cave but he didn't offer any help. Locke is so focused on his own game plan. We all now know what Locke was up to in the jungle.
You would think they would show it considering it has to do with Ethan and Aron.
I think Locke didn't offer to help Jack because he knew Charlie was going to be the one to do it. after CHarlie asked him twice for his drugs is when Locke showed him the Moth cocoon. Myabe this is what kickstarted Charlie to take matters into his own hands. If you watch carefully when Charlie tells Locke Jack is trapped in a cave in, Locke does stop what he is doing and does look like he is concerned. but a type of concern of 'not my place to help'. after all, Locke and Jack doesn't have issues with one another yet. Locke did save him from falling off the cliff. vice versa in the finale.
