The guy with one leg

This isn't exactly a theory, but I don't really know where to put it. Remember the guy in the Pilot whom Jack & Locke pulled out from under a beam or whatever? His leg had been cut off; Jack put on a tourniquet. Then later, Boone (I think) asks Jack, "So how's the guy with the leg?" and Jack said, "The bleeding stopped, I think he'll be ok." Unless I missed it, I have NEVER heard or seen reference to him again. Did he die? It does't seem likely that a cut-off leg would, like, heal right up. Infection, if nothing else, would have to set in, gangrene or whatever, ugh. Is he still there, fine and hopping around? Discussion?

My guess (just a guess) is that he was beneficial to that scene only. He has not been necessary to move the story along. Although it may have helped to provide more insight on Jack's character, they seem to have shown us what they want us to know as far as Jack's characteristics of being a physician.

This makes me think of Rose. We have not seen anything of her lately.

I could be wrong but I don't think they cut his leg off... at least thats not how I remember it.
I thought it was just a wound and Jack wrapped him up with a tourniquet.

I was hiding my eyes a lot during that scene, I must admit...every time I watch it I go , "Eeeeeewwwwww" and try not to look. But I once looked just as they're pulling him from under some big metal thing, and it looked to me like the leg was gone below the knee.

Re: The guy with one leg

I don't think there was any cutting of a leg.. I think it was more smashed.. the guy probably just lies around on the sand, eating coconuts and has to wait for months for it to heal.
