They were both asked to sign away thier child in the same damn room.
My friend said "That's probably nothing man" and I said "You don't think it means anything?" and he said "No, it's a big show but they probably don't have a big budget for lawyer office sets man."
And then I thought. "Can't be the reason this was done!"
I know the episode with Michael was supposedly a last minute change, but I cannot imagine they just have this set laying around from last year.
I happen to think it's important. Any chance of getting a VIP to chime in on this one??

I'm going to guess this was a production decision also, but this is the type of show in
which the writers can turn production limitations into something meaningful. Who
knows if they will?
Re: I was right, it's the SAME ROOM -claire/michael law office
I noticed that the standing lamp in that conference room is also down in Desmond's hatch. And I can't remember where I got this (TV interview?) but apparently the same car was used to hit Michael and put him in the hospital as well as bump Locke in that parking lot. Maybe they just reuse stuff. And maybe it's significant. I doubt any VIP will clear this up, though.
Re: I was right, it's the SAME ROOM -claire/michael law office
So the art seems to be some sort of flora in both shots. But interestingly, note that there are 8 people in the Michael scene, and 4 in the Claire scene. I know, the numbers and all; but ALSO there are two chandeliers in the Michael scene and only one in the Claire scene, and there are two lights on the side table behind the lawyer in the Claire scene, and four lights (two on the table, and two large floor lamps) in the Michael scene...what does this doubling of the lights mean?
Re: I was right, it's the SAME ROOM -claire/michael law office
Claire was in an office in Australia. Michael was in an office in NY.
The show is filmed in Hawaii. Since the production can hardly take over the state for filming, I'm sure they will re-use a lot of locarions before all is said and done.
Re: I was right, it's the SAME ROOM -claire/michael law office
Maybe its a chain of law offices each set up with similar furnishings
What we would get from that so far CHILD placement seems to be one of there areas of practice
Re: I was right, it's the SAME ROOM -claire/michael law office
The thing is it would be easy to make the room look very different for Claire's and Michael's scenes. They used the same set for Michael's lawyer's office, and in that scene it looked completely different.
I think the fact that they didn't make it look different could be meaningful. They used the same arrangement for the paintings. The could have used smaller groupings. They could have draped the window, or hidden it completely with a bookcase. There are a lot of things they could have done to make it look different, and they wouldn't have necessarily been costly.
