"Spread The Love" Thread Michael Edition

Spread The Love! ile:

I'm starting a "Spread The Love" Thread for everybody who isn't getting much love (post/replies) on the message board. I really don't hate any of the characters on the show, they all add something to the story. Everyone has a reason for being there even if they test our patience at times. I mean the time that they put into doing this show they all deserve credit where credit is due. I hope you all will post to show your appreciation for this character.

My thoughts On Michael

Michael is a father who is trying his best to be there for his son. He finally gets his son and now they're stranded on an Island. Recently, his son gets kidnapped and he goes into "overprotective parent" mode. First he tried to blame Sawyer, but who he was really mad at was himself. He was probably thinking "How could I lose my own son? I'm supposed to take care of him, he's my responsibility". If you're a parent or you know someone who is(my sister), whenever your child is in danger you'd do anything even if it means risking your own life. You don't care how crazy you might seem to others just as long as he/she is back in your care. The reason why I bring this up is because some have become annoyed by the character recently. I just wanted to write how he must feel. The reason he is irritable is because he lost his son. His SON. He doesn't know where he is, that kind of anxiety could turn someone mad (Danielle).

Getting Personal

Michael's story makes me misty because he represents one part of my life that I missed out on (not trying to be cheesy). I wonder if I would've been a different person if my father had been in my life (still not trying to be cheesy). Even if I was 10 when he started back up a relationship with me it would've been WAY better than the way it is now. Are there any other people out there with single dads/moms?

Reasons For Michael Being On The Island:

1) His knowledge of constuction
2) Just my perspective but it seems like his love for his son has a healing effect on Locke and Sawyer who had bad experiences with parent(s).
3) The more the merrier, also the more they have to fight The Others.
4) He's always ready to help (and impress his son lol).
5) Michael is special

Well Happy Posting

Re: "Spread The Love" Thread Michael Edition

I really like Michael's character now. At first, I wasn't too fond of him. He seemed to harsh, like he was always mad about something. But after I learned his backstory, I understood him alot better. You understand that he acts that way for a reason. I mean, he hasn't exactly led the happiest life, ya know?

I definetely agree with you, Ana-Lucia. I don't understand why some people have been so hard on Michael, saying he's too mean, he's being to rude, etc. HE LOST HIS SON. His only son. I can't imagine what that would feel like.

On another note, one of the things I love about Michael is his straightforwardness, honesty. I love how he just comes out and says what he wants. I know some people would say that's not an admirable quality, but I think that I would rather have someone tell me that they hate me to my face, rather than behind my back.

By the way, this was a great thread to start, Ana. I'm spreading the love to Michael!

Re: "Spread The Love" Thread Michael Edition

I love Michael. I think he's a sweetie, for the most part, and I really get where he's coming from, even though I've never had to suddenly take responsibility for my ten-year-old "special" son who has hardly any idea who I am and then is kidnapped by mysterious Others who blow up my boat. Although the way my life is going, the kid's going to show up on my doorstep any day now, and then I'll know firsthand where Michael's coming from... :whistling

Ana-Lucia, it's about time somebody did this. Michael is not getting his share of the love!!!As badly as things are going for him he needs it.

While some people think of Michael as an angry black man, I really dont see it that way. It is obvious that he really cares for Walt and needs to find him. Think about it. He never had a relationship with Walt and then when the relationship finally developed, he lost his son. His "anger" is just showing his love.

Thanks. It just seems that people are being too judgmental about Michael, even when other characters have made similar mistakes or have appeared "angry". And most of the characters have never experienced the unconditional love that occurs between father and son, even if they just developed a relationship.
