Jack/Shannon and the Timing

So...If Shannon was 18 when her Dad died...and she is 20 ish now ...and Jack met his future wife when Shannon's Dad died... then that was only 2 years ago???BUT Desmond, who Jack met when he met his future wife 2 years ago, has been on the Island for 3 years already? so how does that work?

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

Someone brought this up already... the idea that most have is that at the flashback point when her dad died she was possibly in the first months of being 18... and on the island she may already be towards the last months of being 20 (going on 21).

That would span almost 3 years.

Didn't Shannon say she was 22 (when she implied Kate was "what, like, a year older" then her). So that would make it four years.

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

I find it amusing that you say she's "20ish" and then totally disregard the "ish" which would allow the timeline to make sense.

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

For the Census that Hurley is conducting Shannon states that she is 20. That means that yes.... Only two years has passed since Jack met his wife. So it would appear there's a a discrepancy with the run in Jack had with Desmond.

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

So in two years.... Jack's wife 1) broke up with her current fiance (or vise versa) 2) got engaged to Jack 3) married Jack 4) and left Jack (or something happened to take her from him). That's a lot in two years.

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

Because there is no way that Desmond's view of time could be the least bit skewed. He lives in a place with artificial light where his life is measured in 100 minute bursts, not days. He probably was not being too specific when he said "3 years..."

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

was it mentioned in last nites show that Shannon was 18 when her father died? It may have been but I might have missed it. If not then it is very possible that Shannon was 17. I was 17 when I graduated from high school and well into my freshman year. Its possible...

But I bet that you can count on future discrepancies. I think that the writers are doing a hell of a job with coordinating and advancing the storyline but I promise you that they do not keep up with the ever increasing number of details in the emerging sub plots nearly as well as you guys do. You guys are on the ball!. I dont cosider my weekly viewing of Lost to be over until Thursday morning when I get to find out about all of things that I didnt pick up on. This is a killer forum and with thousands of posts eyeing every conceivable detail you can expect more idscrepancies to come in the plotline. Hell the damn thing is under attack every minute of every day...

I'm sure 3 years wasn't exact... Time runs together even if your not pushing a button every 100 minutes and being a hermit.

Re: Jack/Shannon and the Timing

Yes, mbsieve, they specifically mentioned Shannon being 18 when her dad died. I think I always thought Shannon was supposed to be 22-23. I don't recall Hurley taking the census and she saying she was 20. I'll have to go back through the DVDs.
