Shannon's age

I've seen mention of this a couple of times but I haven't seen anyone expand upon it. Shannon said to Boone in her flashback right after her dad's funeral that she is 18 years old. Has she or anyone else mentioned her current age? If not, I think at some point, it is mentioned at how old Boone is in relation to Shannon. Something like Boone is 2 years older than Shannon? And I think someone has posted a screen shot of Boone's drivers license with his birthdate showing. Maybe with all this info we can piece together what the current year is.

Re: Shannon's age

That's easy, and the best 'timeline' we have so far. Shannon, when interviewed by Hurley said 'age 20, residence craphole island'. She had previously said her Dad married evil stepmom when she was 8 and Boone 10. Dad's death was when she's 18, so 2 was years before.

Re: Shannon's age

That timeline seems off to me (not your fault; the writers') This would mean that Jack met his wife 2 years ago. She spent several months in physical therapy, then they got married AND separated. That sounds awfully rushed to me.

That doesn't even seem right if you think of Desmond, who said (I think) that he had been on the island for 3 years (am I misremembering?)

I think the writers fudged there. They needed Shannon to be old enough to want to go to College or something and to be emancipated (18) so that Sabrina wouldn't have any legal obligations towards her and could desinherite her the way she did. In reality, I think Shannon should have been 16. Everything would make a lot more sense.

Actually, that's true! Two years is too little for everything to happen.

Re: Shannon's age

The writers did no such thing. Desmond was about to leave for his race around the world immediately after Shannon's father died. She was 18. Desmond crashes, is in the hatch for 3 years. That would put Shannon at either 20 or 21, which she is. She easily could have not had her birthday yet.

Re: Shannon's age

Ok maybe Shannon was only 17 when her dad died and turned 18 during the time that she was living on her own and when she went to her evil stepmonster for money. and just hasnt had her birthday yet to turn 21...that would give you 3 years or more..ie the 3 years of Desmond.

I think the writers might have been stretching it a bit. But I think it might still work. Shannon said she was twenty when Hurley interviewed her. She could have been just about to turn 21 and she could have just turned 18 when her father died. That would make the 3 years that Desmond has been on the island.
