clean shaven young men dragged off Eko . . .

I think he must have seen something scary, or freaky.

He told Michael 'You have no idea what they are capable of" but nothing we saw in the episode led me to that conclusion. It must have been somehting we didn't see, and that would be Eko getting drug off.

The look on his face once they found him was incredibly intense and in and of itself was scary. My girlfriend actually asked me "Is he a VAMPIRE?" And I did a double take and said "I doubt it, but yeah . . . creepy"

The other thing that got me was the look of the Others. Yeah, they had ragged clothing, well the one who tackled ana had a hoodie, but their hair was not matted or otherwise out of order, and they were SHAVED.

Mean anything? Probably not. What I also didn't see was a shot in the promo pics of Eko hitting one of them with his club while laying on the ground near a camp fire. I guess they cut that shot?

I concur.
I did not find any reason for them to think the Others were so sneaky.

Re: clean shaven young men dragged off Eko . . .

Eko was able to fight off and kill two of the others even after it seems he was attacked by surprise. Yet when he is with Jin looking for Michael he hides like he is very afraid of them. I would have thought he might even have attacked them then as there were only 5 and he has Jin with him and they both have clubs and the element of surprise. We know the Others are regular people in the sense they can be killed, so what is there to be so afraid of? Yes they are very stealthy but they didnt seem to be great fighters or have any super powers (Ana even kills one), and Eko is much bigger than all of them..

noeland - I think (hope!) that we will get to see more of Mr. Eko's encounter with the 2 Others. When he was hiding with Jin, he was really frightened. Yet, we didn't see anything last night that would lead to such fear. I think something more went on or Mr. Eko saw more during his fight than we were allowed to see.

Yes, but consider how upset Eko was when he killed those two others - he stopped speaking for 40 days. In terms of his conscience, I think he'd much rather hide than kill people, especially since he really doesn't know what they're doing with the people they've dragged away.

Re: clean shaven young men dragged off Eko . . .

I thought that Eko was looking like that because he wasn't fighting to save himself, but rather someone else. I leapt to the conclusion that the black woman he helped earlier and was talking to was his wife or something, and since we never saw that character again after that night, I assumed they had taken her, and he was trying to stop them, but couldn't. So he was completely devastated that he lost this woman, and that's why he didn't speak.

I agree the others that passed jin and eko wouldnt been a match for them. At worst they would get a teddybearslap in their face. oh no...

I dont think they are affraid of them couse of their strength or intellegence... i think they have some other power....

perhaps some "vulcan" power of some sort... (star trek vulkan i meant... mindmelt etc etc)...

Yeah, they showed that other black woman a lot, but I don't remember seeing her EVER with Ecko precisely.

Oh, and I seriously think the Warrior Others were not MEN, but kids... like age 14/15 max. Thus, they would have very little facial hair.

I've been wondering why Eko was so afraid of them, too. I mean, out of what we saw all they did was kidnap people.

I agree with other posters. In previous episodes, the Tail-Enders made the Others to be these horrible, nightmarish creatures from your deepest darkest fears. But, when we actually see them, they are simply creepy people that kidnap people in the night. While it may be nasty to get kidnapped in your sleep, the Others shown in yesterdays episode do not match the description given by AL and Ecko to Michael.
