Sometimes it honestly sucks to read some of the minor nitpicky criticisms about this show, it takes all the fun out of the show itself. So far I have been loving the second season, every bit as much as I enjoyed the first. I think what makes it for me so far is that I enjoy every one of the new characters.
Eko - Top of my list already. Eko is just fricking awesome. He's got a calm demeanor (when he's speaking), he seems very wise and I've already been hearing Locke-comparisons, he's got that priest-like deep religious background thing going on, ...but do NOT piss him off or he will hit you in the face with a big club or a rock.
Libby - Maybe I'm biased because I really liked Cynthia Watros on Titus as Christopher's girlfriend. But so far I'm already liking Libby a lot. She's a clinical psychologist, whose way of keeping the group motivated so far seems to be "If I talk to you really nicely it'll keep your mind off the mind-blowingly intense pain you're going through right now." AND she can set a compound bone fracture.
Bernard - Such a nice man. Really at this point already, I can't envision Bernard being anything else other than the way Sam Anderson plays him. Minor characters or not, everyone wants to see him back with Rose again, ever since they found out that yes, he is still alive just like she said.
Ana-Lucia - The dominant one of the pack, I guess you'd say. As much as people have hated on her in the past few weeks, we know now at least why she acts the way she does. Sawyer and Jin both started off the same way. Some may disagree, but I see a lot of potential in this character.
Cindy - Whether she's a "redshirt" or not, just remember that Cindy was/is a flight attendant for Oceanic. I just think it's a really cool touch that the writers tossed in a living reference to the Pilot episode to add to the cast, just as a reminder that they did indeed come from flight 815. I hope they develop the character more, and that her disappearance won't be the last we see of her. A constant reminder of the plane they crashed on is too good to pass up.
And let's not forget...
Desmond - The International Man of Mystery, I guess. The only new character that isn't one of the 'Tailies'. What happened to his roommate and what were those drugs he was taking? He barely knows anything about what's going on, but he still knows more than he's already told. I'm sure he'll turn up again, but I'm also sure he's just glad he got to give up his old job and get out of the house/hatch for a change.
So, anyone else really liking the new characters so far?
I like everyone else except ana. she has the same "I'm the toughest chick alive and I keep making my face look like I've chewed on 10 lemons and I have to open my mouth as wide as I can when I say a word" attitude that she had in resident evil. and it's just overplayed and doesnt suit her. bleh she just bugs me out so much.
I disliked shannon aswell for her vincenty attitude. was driving me nuts. but later she started to ease up and now she's dead hehe. hopefully ana wont act the tough chick in every frame we'll see her in the series..

Re: New 2nd Season Characters Appreciation Thread
Loving everyone except Ana-Lucia, and my intense hatred for her has dimmed somewhat, so, there ya go.
Bernard. I cannot say enough good things about Bernard. Bernard/Rose is one of my very few OTPs. I love them both so very much.
Eko. After seeing "The Other 48 Days" I've discovered I've fallen madly in love with Eko. Not in the same way that I'm madly in love with Desmond and Charlie, which is a I-wanna-tie-you-up-and-keep-you-under-my-bed love, but a please-please-please-let-me-see-more-of-this-man love. And if Ana-Lucia is only seen in scenes with Eko from now on, I may actually grow to like her.
Libby. Libby is awesome. I've read all the spec that she's
Spoiler:
a ficus
but I really hope not. I her so very much. She's so good-humored, in a way that no one else on the Island is.
Cindy. Yeah, yeah, I know she's gone. And I know she had to go. From a storytelling viewpoint, if nothing else. But I loved her time with us anyway.
Desmond. Desmond I want to tie up and keep under my bed and ravish. Bring him back as a regular, PTB!
Okay, I have to say that Ana Lucia is my favorite so far. Granted, I didn't love her the first couple of weeks, but man, when she and Goodwin went up on that ridge and only she came back down, that was awesome. She's just Jin and Sawyer and Kate and Locke - clearly lots of secrets, clearly haunted, but basically good.
I've enjoyed this season and meeting the tailgaters, but I don't know that I have a fondness for any of them. I loved their episode though, but it will still be good to have our originals back next week. I can't wait to see what happens between violent uber toughie and the Iraquie Republican tortur inflictor.
I too hate seeing all the criticisms, that's why I just don't read those threads. I know off the bat that I disagree with them and there's no point in trying to change their minds so I keep it simple and just ignore them all together.
I've enjoyed learning about the tailies too, but it's time to get back to the Losties and learn more about the island, hatch and everything else.
Ecko - he is really cool. I hope he has an incredible backstory.
Libby - I didn't trust her at first. Loved it when she set that guy's leg while telling that story. Cynitha was great in Drew Carrey even though that show went down hill at the end.
Bernard - Nice regular guy but he sticks up for himself to Ana. I'm looking forward to his reunion with Rose. The writers should be subtle, and have them hug and Rose say something like, "here honey I saved a candy bar for you, I'd knew you come back from the bathroom soon."
Ana - I understand why she acts the way she does, but someone needs to control her destructive tendencies. Why did it take her 4 weeks to do something about Goodwin?
I'm really liking all the new characters too. I didn't really like Ana first but she's grown on me. I enjoyed the scene between her and Goodwin, with the knife and the scene with her and Eko, when she cries...I think those two moments really helped to shed light on her character. Eko is just awesome, nothing more to say that hadn't already been said. I like Libby, if she's not

then there's potential for some really good story with a psycologist (sp) on the island I think/I hope we'll see more of Cindy. And I too, can't wait until Bernard and Rose get back together (although I must admit I'm slightly more exited about Sun and Jin).
Libby is my favourite from the Tailenders; her ability to be unsubtly manipulative just kicks butt - for example in the "Other 48 Days" when she tells Ana exactly what she wanted to hear. I really want more on Libby (and Ana)
Although there is something about Eko which makes him too similar to Locke I still like him
