Ethan and Danielle

I thought of this randomly while perusing the first season. I didn't see any theories specifially on this, so, I'd like to open the forum up to postulation.

In 124, our finale, before Danielle whacks Claire and steals Aaron, we see her flashback to her 2 weeks gone from the rest of the group. We discover that the thick scratch marks on Roussaue's arm are none other than Claire's scratch marks.

So we discover Danielle had an encounter with Claire during her time in the woods. Was she trying to help her? Or hurt her? (I feel since she mentions nothing of her encounter when warning everyone of the Other's, we can assume it's something bad).

Now, go back to episode 115. The fusies are dealing with Ethan. I found it interesting. When Jin gets knocked out, Ethan appears out of the jungle and confronts Charlie.

Notice the scratch marks. Familiar?

So my question that I'd like to pose is, what (if anything) do Ethan Rom and Danielle have to do with each other. Was she really lying? Maybe she knew for a fact that the Other's would return Alex to her if she procured Claire/her baby.

Any thoughts? There certainly a connection, whether directly or indirectly.

Re: Ethan and Danielle

There was a thread on this a long time ago but it didn't really go anywhere. Here's the link.

Ok, I didn't read through the entire thread, I guess there were a lot of posts.

Re: Ethan and Danielle

I think that Danielle's scratch marks occured when she tried to attack Claire in the cave.

Claire likely did scratch Ethan during their time together.

You may be right that they have something to do with each other, but I don't think that the scratches are evidence of this. Though they are evidence that Claire can really scratch. Then again, perhaps no-one has nail clippers on the island.

Re: Ethan and Danielle

I thought that Ethan was the original kidnapper, Claire tries to escape, runs into Danielle who tries to grab a hold of her and maybe use her as a trade, but Claire scratches her and runs into Boone and Locke, crying because she just went through a rough ordeal of fighting for her life.
