Javi, sorry if this is a sore point

For some of us, we never thought the "smoke monster" had anything to do with the black shapes zipping around in the pilot, and we always understood the reason the engine exploded was because someone got sucked into it.

But some of those black shapes in the pilot seem to be something other than random debri floating around is all, and it makes some of us curious. It's a subtle thing, and the show is known for subtle things.

Now, a couple of similiar black shapes hit the water before the tail section did in "The Other 48 days" so it has sparked some interest and discussion, and renewed interest for some in the pilot episode.

I wanted to post in the "Javi you're killing me thread" but I could not, so I just wanted reach out in a new thread, and apologize if it's a sore point for you. You seemed kind of short about it in the other thread, I felt bad.

I am one of the members who enjoys diving into the smaller details of the show and talking about them probably beyond what is neccesary. It's only because I love the show though!

So I guess the real question I'd like to ask is, are these black shapes we think we see in the pilot episode, and the black shapes in the other 48 days anything important? Are they clues, hints, or otherwise to be considered, or are they nothing important in any context whatsoever and should be completely ignored? I understand they are not the "smoke monster" and never were.

Aagain, apologies if this is a sore point, or if I'm kicking the crap out of a dead horse. But hey, you know we love you right?

Thanks,

Re: Javi, sorry if this is a sore point

it's not that its a sore point - and believe me, i appreciate your desire to get into the deepest nooks and crannies of the show... it's just that no matter how specifically i ansswer this question... it just keeps coming back... i just have to try to find a more definitive answer...

...how about this?

the monster does not appear anywhere in the pilot or in the other 48 days as a manifestation of black smoke.

better?
